I haven't a clue what your point is. My point is clear: Democracy is a universal human value and 'cultural' practices that violate that value such as female genital mutilation and removal of the male foreskin (there is a difference between the two) need to adjust to that which is happening in African democracies and 'Northern' democracies. I have 'read with care' since I agree with you that reference to 'savages' is unacceptable. Hopefully, you can separate your African 'nationalism' from democracy as a universal human value.

African women are fighting genital mutilation. They could not do this before because of the fear of punishment for speaking out. Democracy in Africa is only now starting to take hold, partly to blame is the previous colonialism but that excuse is over now. But thee is no need to call anyone 'savage' as well as there is no need to support genital mutilation. Even democracies are challenging male circumcision despite its anti HIV benefits.

Africans have their culture and traditions which go back hundreds, if not thousands of years, sadly this is being eroded. People of the west look to Africa and it`s "children" Or "savages" As if they need guidance. This is very disrespectful and arrogant.

Do you see Africans causing problems in the world? No, because they have nobility and peace. You got scammed by a Nigerian LOL, then you deserve it for your naivety.

Read your history. Educate yourself. Learn from the African.

The lady you are referring to has still her clitoris. You may find excised ladies, even younger ones, more in Mali and Niger where the campaigns against it are not very forceful. I know only one lady in BF who has been excised as a child and cases of young girls being excised turn up from time to time in the media. So, I think this practice is losing ground all in all.

IAn African adult muslim woman told her story in this culture on film. The Dutch film maker was knifed to death on a street in Netherlands by his murderer on motorcycle.

I agree with you are that the practice is a bad one. The only problem I have is that people associate all african culture as "barbaric."Every culture has its positives and negatives.

Too often we see westerners who go to africa, coming back and saying how "barbaric" their costumes and behaviors are just because it is different from what they do or are used to.

Much like Roman Guy I think that some the african costumes are good. And has helped them thus far. But I digress.

Criticize as barbarism because of cultural costumes or dress or lack of clothing is ignorance.

Criticize as barbarism mutilation of young girls or stoning a woman to death because she spoke to another man not her husband is barbarism.

A father having his teenage daughter killed by his own hands or killed by his male family members (her brother, her uncles etc.) because the daughter socialized with a westerner is barbarism. The father maintained family honor. BS. Give it up if you want respect. You are not living in the 13th century.

A father-in-law castrated, then be-headed his son-in-law because he cheated on his wife. The entire male members of the family were present to this barbaric crime. The young man's body was then thrown in the harbor. Need I say more about barbarism?
