I went back to Canada last month to see family.

Booked on Expedia and flew combination of Air Canada and China Air through Taiwan and Vancouver both ways.

My cost was 2,600 CDN or almost exactly $US 2,000.

I have been on the Manila to Sydney run twice this year on Cebu Pacific. Cost was 3999 php each way (or 155 USD round trip). I pay extra 2 x 500 php for an exit row. Easy trip. Planes are good. I don't eat food on board which I feel is unnecessary anyway (apart from it being crap). Who wants to eat dinner at 12 midnight? I practice my intermittent fasting, with dinner pre-departure and then brunch around midday next day.

You pay more than twice as much on PAL for exactly the same duration trip.

Damn! I got to do some more advanced planning!

And I'm with you on the food. No loss. Don't even eat the breakfast meals on Qantas and Emirates, though I do usually eat the dinners.

Assuming that you are buying your flights reasonably in advance (for me that advance means about 1 week. So I don't count), then flights from Aus can be had for around $350-400 USD. Of course, it is also the closest destination of this type (at 7-9 hours) for us.

Let's take a look at the economics for the average tourist monger.

Just a few comments because I think the average tourist monger is paying less.

Airfare here say $2,000. Could be less if he lives near an airport with direct Home to Manila flights, less for an Aussie perhaps more for a European.

Don't know about the USA or Australia but for a European the average airfare will be $1,000 at the most. Maybe even lower.

Accommodation for 12 nights. (two week vacation with 2 days lost in transit) say $100 per night.

That is around PhP 5000, which is quite a lot for a hotel in the Phils. The average monger is not staying at the ABC Hotel for example. I think $50 or $60 per night would be more realistic.

Meals, travel and beer money say another $75 per day.

I guess this amount depends a lot on how much alcohol you drink. I spent only about $25 per day for this.

The guy takes a short time and a long time for overnight every day he is here.

These amounts depend a lot on where you get your girls (in the bars or elsewhere (freelancers, street girls)) and how many you want / need obviously.

I really don't see why guys come from North America to here strictly for mongering when there are many closer destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America that offer similar experiences at much less costs.

Let's take a look at the economics for the average tourist monger.

It literally cost more to feed her than fuck her. Do the math over 14 days and the exercise cost 60 k. In hindsight, this could have paid a lot of tourist mark ups for local short timers, a hell of a catch up blow out upon return to civilization or even an extension to the holiday.
