What concerns me is, lots if not most, of Senior members, rarely if ever mention the negatives of the Phils.

We have to know the negatives to enjoy the positives. And to survive! Many foreigner inmates of Phil prisons are testimony to that.

One negative to keep in mind, if your generous or half decent with the Phils girls, they will often interpret that as stupidity and try for 'more' , even though you have been more than half reasonable. Take the case of the guy who donated four thousand bucks to a chick holding a nude photo of him.

Controlled decency and generosity, is the way to go. With a smile on your dial, stay in control, and your relationship will be nourishing.

I think that most senior members, at least those of us who live here, long ago decided to accept the "negatives" and have decided, at least implicitly that the positives outweigh them. Over the years I've also found that warning newbies about potential consequences of their actions is a waste of breath and time. The inevitable response is some variation of: "I hear what you're saying, but this is different. " which, by the way, is never the case. Another variation is often: "I hear what you're saying but my girl is different. " which is rarely the case. So those of us who live here and have seen the same cycle repeated endlessly no longer comment on it for the simple reason that no one listens.

Just as an aside, I occasionally observe some Western foreigners in our restaurant, which largely attracts middle class / semi-rich Filipinos, behaving loutishly. Invariably they have their temporary girlfriends in tow. The Filipinos typically eating at our place look at them like they're animals in a zoo. I cite the latter only to suggest that some Westerners, whose focus is exclusively on picking up bar girls / street girls, seem clueless that there's a much larger culture in which what is considered appropriate behavior in a bar or on the street, is looked at with disapprobation.

Just my two cents in what is an endless discussion.

I've noticed that a lot of the Mindanao girls online are smoking hot. This is especially true of the areas that are far too dangerous for a horny white monger to visit. I noticed that the most stunning ladies at a certain website (not DIA but similar) had a listed address of Zamboanga. About 5-6 8+ model-quality ladies. Iligan, aside from having crappy hotel choice, is fine. DIA shows a fine selection, and better to be had in person. Both street food and restaurant delicious. For sights, the waterfalls are one day tour, maybe once in a lifetime or so. Beyond that, make your own fun. Avoid the many Moslem ladies, even though they are among the most beautiful, being a head taller than the Catholics. You may end up same height as said Catholic ladies if you insist on tasting the Muslim wares.

The idea when flying into Mindanao for a few days to meet fresh meat is: You don't go to the city where the girl is, you go to a centrally located city with contacts willing to bus in. You make a good point about bringing girls to you rather than going to the girls, even in the 'safe' areas due to shyness and gossiping friends. As I'm doing a city hop, I might investigate importing the reluctant girls from the city I just left rather than insisting they come to hotel lobbies in their home town.

As I said I've limited experience with freighting girls but in the few times I did they didn't bat an eyelid at several hours of travel even just for one night. I'd agree that there are so many in the safe areas but that's part of the problem: when I arrive in Davao with old numbers as a 'bird in the hand' I know I'll be lazy and just stay with them.

I've now also got numbers from the wrong side of the island who appear very keen to meet, are very easy on the eye and seem to be far less bitter and twisted than your average girl from a high monger traffic town. I'd be crazy not to at least investigate possibilities.

Sounds like CDO is worth a try.

I would agree there are many hotties in Mindanao. While CdeO and Davao are safe, there are perhaps even more cuties from other areas of Mindanao that are probably best avoided. I have had good success simply staying in Mactan or Cebu and flying them in. Sure I am taking a risk of a no-show, but so far, I have had good luck. I only make the offer to fly them in if we have established good chemistry on-line and they are certifiably hot. No investment is without risk, and for me, it has been a pretty good investment. Also, for the girl, a short plane ride will be more exciting than a long bus ride. Also, she will be excited and disinhibited to be in a big city where she will not be recognized. Cebu is perhaps better than Manila for this purpose because not only is it closer to Mindanao, but the woman will feel more comfortable with the language (Visayan as opposed to Tagalog).

KG's mention of Butuan is good. City of 100 k, farming / fishing / industrial. Two malls, a newer upscale small Robinson's and a much older Gaisano, both on the highway. One bar of note with good live band called Woodstock (on the highway). Several hotels to note: Almont (the one on the highway, not the one downtown / Urios area) has a nice pool, is getting older, pricey); Dotties (on the Hwy, no wifi in rooms, just in the common areas of lobby, outdoor breakfast area, older hotel with some recent room upgrades in some rooms only, nice pool); and Balanghai Hotel, off the beaten path north of the Gaisano, a convention center, nice pool (when there is a convention, the conventioneers hog the wifi bandwidth). Butuan is a nice central location for that area east of that imaginary line that I mentioned, you can bus in girls from Surigao (3 hours), Bayugan (45 minutes), Gingoog (90 minutes), CDO (6 hours). Most Butuanas won't want to meet you and be seen entering your hotel in Butuan -- "eberbody know eberbody". However, I have persuaded a few to do such.

Don't expect to do much here other than visit a museum for an hour. The joy is the ladies themselves. Do visit the museum at Balanghai Hotel, and also the museum across the street, and walk the Father Urios college area (cathedral downtown).

Not much there, it is a basic industrial city no attractions but two not bad low cost safe hotels to import the westerners, a shorter bus ride than taking them into Davao.

This is excellent advice for anyone visiting here. And fortunately, aside from some gorgeous natural beauty there's nothing much to see west of the imaginary line. Zamboanga is a fairly nothing place as is Illigan, and if you're into cities and "stuff" to do during the daylight hours, these are not great alternatives. I'm not sure how one would bring a candidate from Zamboanga to CDO; it would be a hell of a bus ride and Iligan would be further still.
