I look at my watch, see that it is 7:59, and figure that if I sprint I can just make it. I race up Makati ave, cross the street, whiz past Mercury Drug, and stop just short of A Venue to catch my breath, wipe my brow, and slowly saunter through the front door.

There she is, with her back toward me, long, silky black hair, shiny tight blouse, short skirt. I paste a casual smile on my face, sit down across from her, stick out my right hand, and say, 'Hi, nice to meet you, I'm...' She doesn't smile, just sticks out her left hand to show me on her watch that it is two minutes past eight, and says, 'You're late.'

I think fast but my mind is blank as this is a dating first for me in Manila. After a pregnant pause, I just give her my best smile and say, 'Wow, our first lovers quarrel. You're beautiful when you're angry. Let's just skip dinner and go have some hot make up sex so we can be friends again.'

With that she bursts out laughing and all is saved. We have a nice date, and she ends up leaving my place at 11 the next morning--as friends.

My profile on DIA is very explicit. Amongst a few statements about how I am NOT looking for a wife or a serious relationship I also say nobody under 28; you need to be 160 cm or more; no smokers (even social smokers). My mistake is that my profile starts off with "I am a foreigner who...."

So what do I get? Lots of short teeners or early twenties, many girls who smoke, and all with profiles that say they want a genuine serious guy looking for a wife. It proves to me that most girls read the first 3 words of a profile (if that!) and immediately fire off a "Hi" or a "Hello" and that's all. I now have a standard reply that suggests they should read profiles before they send out blanket "Hellos" that [CodeWord140] off thoughtful guys like me LOL.

BTW, I also get the gems who read my profile right through, understand exactly what I am looking for, and send me a sensible, long reply that makes me want to reply. i wouldn't read too much into the smiles/message distinction. The fact is that only maybe 10-20% of guys write anything meaningful or honest in their profile. Therefore its not an unreasonable strategy for the girls to just browse the profiles and send a message to whoever seems vaguely plausible.

Your message seems a bit too sophisticated for 90% of CB girls to understand properly, unless you are only interested in college girls.

For the "fun girls" I think you can say "Sorry I'm looking for a girl who is open minded about sex and willing to stay with me at my hotel. Do you think that is possible for you? " This will put off some girls but there will certainly be enough to keep you busy. Mindinao as a whole is fine. Because of the bad publicity there are perhaps only 10% of the foreigners that you might see in Cbu or Luzon. But thast can cut both ways. On the one hand the ratios are good, on the other hand the girls are in general more conservative maybe because they havent seen so many foreigners. If you are just looking for a few girls you should be fine, but if you are looking for 2 or 3 different girls every day you will have better chances in Cebu.
