Cartagena Hotels and Rental Apartments

I sorry to be so discouraging, I did like the city and the area, but the action has a lot to be desired.

Too few and far apart. See the Map.

You will find many better looking chicas in Bogota, Medellin or Cali.

Thanks for the discouraging and honest advise. I have read as you suggested the other threads to get a better idea of what is out there and found the threads quite useful but most posters don't share a lot of places and bargains and more all about the Colombian people don't like you to bring chicas to their Hotels and blah blah blah. However, I am a bargain hunter even in expensive cities like Cartagena and don't give up that easily. I have also been checking on booking.com and surprisingly I saw some pretty good price deals with all tax included near the beach in Bocagrande such as: Hotel Bocagrande $50, Hotel Pueblito playa $48, Hotel Veleros $50, hotel la Casa del Turista $51, Hotel Balcones the Bocagrande $49, etc etc. Perhaps those hotels are not chica friendly but still they are pretty good prices. Also, I notice some good deals over $50 in el Centro also at booking.com: Hotel Sol del Mar. $61 (someone mentioned this hotel in a post), El Claustro Hotel $64, hotel Puerta de Cartagenas $71. I don't know any of the noted Hotels, but if anyone been to any of the hotels and can share their good or bad experience, please share it?

From reading the post, I won't break my head in trying to find a cheap chica friendly place in a great location. However, I should be find with finding a place in great location, decent price, clean, and safe place to rest after an active day, and If necessary I can do the love motels or casa visits, massage places, for the other great fun.

As for the Dominican Republic, I was there in July in Sosua and Cabarete towns and found a great Chica friendly aparta hotel in Cabarete for just $30 per night (San Souci apartments) and it was close to all the action and the hotel was a beach front. Lots of Chicas out there in both Sosua and Cabarete, but more in Sosua. I am not looking for the DR now as I want to experience the Colombian beautiful women.

Thank You Tomasb. I saw that hotel Sol why Mar in El Centro through Booking.com for $60 pe day which is not that bad as long as it is Chica friendly.

Unfortunately, you would be lucky to find a short term hotel for $50 per night though the Sol why Mar near the Reloj plaza used to offer rooms at this price several years ago. I think I paid some ridiculous price for two hours last July at the same place. As World pointed out, this type of budget price does not exist in CTG. I paid $125 per night for an apartment that was, at least, GF and in El Centro. However, most of the hotels are not GF and cater to families and couples on romantic getaways.

Can anyone share some good or a good budget chica friendly hotel in Cartagena near all the action? I plan my first, a one week trip to Cartagena in the third week of October? What do the experience mongers recommend to stay. I usually don't like to pay more than $50 USA dollars per night and like to be centrally located to bars, restaurant, and close to beach, massage places, casas, etc. Or is it better to stay in one hotel to sleep and use the love motels for the chicas activities? I hope to get some responses and which are the best areas to stay. Is it better to stay in a Hotel in Ell centro, Bocagrande?

Response (IMHO):

1) Ditch the idea of a hotel. Read further back through the posts on the preceding pages within this thread.

2) Contact Juan and inquire about availability and price for an apartment in the Playa Mar building in Laguito. I can vouch for Juan and the apartments he manages.

3) If you don't like what Juan has to offer, get a paid membership so you can PM the guy who posted on this thread right before you stating that he has apartments starting at $50. I don't know the guy or his apartments, so I have no opinion on him or his apartments.

Your best option is to Call Juan. I cannot tell you how easy it is to get all set up there. The place he has a 1 bdrm in Laguito is perfect for the solo traveler. All the staff is really cool. Ac and clean and modern. Excelent wifi and in room safe. The place is literally on the beach. 5 min walk to LDV and 10 min walk to Playa Hollywood. It says hot water also but there is no hot water. Which is totally fine since its quite hot there. You will not need it. Believe me I am a chicken shit when it comes to cold showers. I was glad to take showers with cold water due to the weather.

Juan's 1 BR does not have wifi. If you need it, he can set you up with a 3 G USB stick free of charge.

No, thank GOD I am done with the rental in Cartagena. Laguito has a lot of apts for rent, many in the new bldgs. Check with Juan Ventura.

Haven't been to high end hotels in Cartagena, but in Medellin some hotels require the second guest to check in the same time as you. Hotels are just a pain in the ass in Colombia. Best to avoid and stick with apartments or if you must, consider a ST motel as a backup plan.
