Why is it cheaper now? Two days ago they didn`t even published the rate on Asiatravel. Had to look at their crappy homepage.
Is it really the ec crise or just the season?

Also, general comments are appreciated. I stay the weekend and want to party.

Thanks for all the input brothers.
Very GF hotel stayed there in the past but now I stay at the Dusit since it has been given an excellent refit. Both GF both close to Greenbelt. SM Mall, Glorietta, Burgos and Havana Cafe a short taxi ride away (though you could walk to Havana) but Robinsons, LA Cafe et al 20-30 minutes from the hotel, as is ESDA etc. Your choice

    It is definitely girl friendly.

As a rule of thumb, I have never heard of a non-girl friendly hotel in anywhere in the PI. I think people would be so outraged on this board they would have their own section.

I have stayed at Diamond 3 times
    Hyatt 4 times
    Pan Pac 10 times

I visit Manila regularly on business so it's actually quite cheap and staing in 5 star hotels in a slummy area can be a good refuge!

Pan Pac has some great restos in it also....my fave is Miyabi Japanese..

Have fun Primo! Wish I was back there!
    Thanks! I will!
Now I have to reorganize my thinking. But yes alot of good things about PP has been on this board.

    Suggestions for longer stays

If you are going to be in Manila for more than a couple of day's a very good alternative to hotels is rent a condo.

There are modern decent fully furnished AIRCONDITIONED condos available for sub letting around Pasig/Cainta area which is not far from Ortigas.
Realty agents handle the initial enquiries & pass you over to the private owner.
The condos developments are typically huge with a central 'clubhouse' & large landscaped pool areas.

If you pick up a long term BF or GF its is much nicer. I have had good experiences with this. Beats being cramped up in a hotel room IMHO. YMMV.

Prices $27 - $35/day or sky is the limit depending on how much you want to impress yourself.

Can be had by searching the Internet or by local contacts.

    Cheers

    Hyatt??

I dunno. I thought the Exec Plaza at $57 a night (or thereabouts as I recall) was quite fine. Is the Hyatt really $85 better of a hotel considering one is still in a crappy area?

I would have to agree that the price is higher in general vs. Pan Pacific, then again, I don't really think the Pan Pacific is worth it either. I prefer Pearl Garden which is diagonal from PP and is less than half the price but has been remodeled. Diamond is probably the most expensive of the three but with these economic times, I"m sure there are varying sale prices on the different websites.

    Hyatt Four Star Maybe?
