It may be a dumb question but is the Tune in Ermita Girl Friendly?
Does anyone have any experience staying here?
IF so, could you give me a few Tidbits on the place.
Thanks

beggar boys can't walk so fast (you ever see a filipino walk fast. saunter is about their max speed0 so they soon lose interest when you see you are in your serious striding mode. but won't stop them trying to get a handout or a "hand-in" as you zoom by.

One of the hotels on Hotman's list is Microtel.

Has anyone stayed there? It looks as if it is right next to Mall of Asia. Can you walk over or is there some kind of wall forcing a walk around. The web site shows a pitafully small rooftop pool.
I can also see the Metrostar ferry from which you can take a bay cruise or go to Cavite.
This looks really interesting. X

All that said, I would consider staying there again if I saw a good deal on Agoda, but I wouldn't pay full price. Right now I see deluxe rooms for about $85 USD breakfast included. I've seen better deals, but this is certainly in your price range, and if someone else is footing the bill then who cares anyway.
One last thing. Getting from the Heritage to EDSA can be a pain, even though it is across the street. If I remember right there is a barrier in the middle of the street so you can't just dodge traffic and run across. There is a pedestrian bridge not too far away, but it is really sketchy. I walked it once and was hit up for change about every 10 feet. The girl I brought back later refused to cross that way claiming it wasn't safe, that we were likely to be assaulted, and insisted we take a cab instead. Just an FYI.

Thanks Hudsori,
I appreciate your help.
This will be a 5 day business trip and I will only have the evenings free so no chance to get to Angeles. I do like freelancers but also enjoy bar girls some evenings.
I have a couple of 'Freebees' lined up but location is not a problem for them (they are both able to travel!)
It looks as if, from the three hotels that my business partners suggest as being in a convenient location to THEM that my best choice may be The Heritage Hotel, unless anyone has a better suggestion!
Hotel costs are not a major problem. Something around US$150 / day would be just fine.
Hotman.

Anyway, of the three hotels you listed The Heritage is across the street from the EDSA Entertainment Complex, a spot of several go-go type bars where the girls are barfined. The Microtel is too far removed from anything but mall wandering and the sunset. The Midas (on Roxas Blvd) is roughly halfway between EDSA and Ermita, where there are freelancers at MBC, Amazonia, and G Point bars and Robinson's Mall.
If you're here for a 3-5 day all-play stay, I. E. No business meetings, you may want to consider Angeles.

Hi Guys,
I am making my FIRST trip to Philippines shortly (Manila.)
My local business contact has suggested one of the following hotels.
The Heritage Hotel Manila
MIDAS Hotel Manila.
Microtel Mall of Asia.
The Heritage looks good but I thought that I should check that the location is OK with the local ISG experts.
I would appreciate your advice.

There is a Eurotel a hundred meters further north too and much further to walk.
All the other Sogos and Eurotels are a 30 min taxi ride away in Cubao, or the short term hotels in San Juan.

Red and Pip, thanks so much for the advice. And hey, forget the Mason Dixon line, there are rednecks everywhere, I've encountered rednecks in New Jersey.

IMHO whether someone is a redneck or not is more of a state of mind as opposed to a zip code. However, being from the land of where the "homes are mobile and the cars ain't" there's no question to my roots, but I prefer to be called a Florida Cracker. My family origin extends back here over 5 generations.

And my Ma was born there also, and My dad raised there. We did move to Alexandria when I was 4, So you know where the Armory and RFK is. It is a good area out to about 12th st. NE. Now. But my uncle was a Lt. On the DC police force. I was in the back of a squad car and they asked if I had family on the force. They called my Uncle. He was screaming about locking me up and I was a pox on the family. This young un pulled over and let me loose. I said didn't you hear what my uncle said? They said he sure was my uncle and told me to move on. When I was a kid it was still the sleepy little town. Not now! But it is my home. I still do service calls where ever people will pay. Ain't nobody going to tell me I can not earning a living in my birth place. My X Philipina wife got a degree from Howard as a dental Hygienist. I was worried you would not understand what I was saying. I went to London. I like Paddington, and not Earls court. In rome I like old town around the Spanish steps and Albania girls. oh, yea I was born at Columbia Hospital for women. andBut worked at DC general, Marine Barracks, National captitol housing, My great Aunts lived on H st NE before the riots. I scapped and painted the 11 th st and south Capital st. bridges working summers for My Dad. Also Barry farms. DC government use to be at 6th and H NW. I got my licenses there and permits for years until they moved. Now the hall use to be on Kansas ave NW, but they moved that to Maryland. Road the Trolly with my great Aunt. Now she was from NW and came down from Penn. switch board operator for bell atlantic for 42 years. But most of this happened before you were born. But yea stay in the Hyatt in Malate and have the best of both.
