    Manila Pavilon

Has anyone ever stayed at the Manila Pavilon either in it's current carnation or its previous one as a Holiday Inn? I have found that it's getting better as they are finishing the renovations.

    LA Cafe -G-Point

was in la cafe a few weeks ago. girls were all freelancers and on average a 6.5. a few pains in the arse. prices for st were about pesos 1,000. more importantly the food was good and cheap, and the draught was cold! at the time of writing i heard that g-point has closed for a few months attributable to a pesos 3m fine for employing **** gros. anyone have more information on that?

    Cherry Blossoms

Asian Rain - I stayed in Cherry Blossoms a few weeks ago and completely agree with your report. Value for money, location and service, it's a top hotel. It's close to LA Cafe and all the Ermita action, staff are attentive without being intrusive, breakfast is great and the rooms are clean. Highly recommended.

    Cherry Blossoms Hotel Review

A rare stay in Manila on my own account, so decided to give a new place a try. I had seen the Cherry Blossoms Hotel on my walks from Robinson's mall to LA Cafe before as well as read some positive reviews, so decided to give it a try.

Found the phone number and address on the web thru Google. They don't have a website, just got the info from a listing of hotels. Cherry Blossoms Hotel is at 550 Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila and thier phone number is (+63) 025247631. E-mail address is: blossoms@i-manila.com. I gave them a call and reserved a standard room (see pics) with a queen size bed at PHP1850/night nett. Room fee is for double occupancy and includes breakfast for 2 pax. To summarize my experience:

HOTEL AND STAFF: Tourist class hotel - 3-star at best. Check-in was friendly and professional. Staff was courteous. Security was good - guard was roving halls frequently. Very basic tourist class place - lots of families staying there as well as some Japanese mongers. Nice and quiet.

ROOMS: Clean and orderly with cable TV and minibar. Deluxe room has a true queen bed (I got upgraded on my first night)... Standard room (featured in pics) bed is more like a large twin bed. If you sleep alone, then the Standard room bed is okay. PHP30 charge for extra towel... I like a lot of fresh towels. I didn't see any value to getting a Deluxe room... the shower is better than the bath. My room on the 5th (top) floor was quite quiet considering the bustling Robinson's location... best to ask for a room at the top. No in-room safe, but safety deposit boxes were available. Cleaning staff never fussed with my stuff.

MONGER ASPECTS: No problem bringing in girls. Staff just nodded approvingly at my choices. They screened girls coming up to my room as well as leaving my room (evening only to prevent rip-offs). I noticed a number of other mongers bringing in girls. Quite a low-key place. CB is well-known at LA Cafe amongst the girls.

LOCATION: Main attraction. Next to Robinson's mall for easy dining and shopping (as well as mall hunting if that is your thing). There is also a taxi queue in front of Robinson's for easy transport to other mongering destinations, although there is plenty of taxi traffic nearby. 30 sec walk to Mini Stop convenience store. 2 min walk to Mabini for money exchange. 5 min walk to LA Cafe, Amazonia, Malate bars, etc. I was very pleased with the access.

All-in-all I give this place a solid thumbs-up. As long as you don't need a pool, this place is superb location at a good value. Enjoy MNL, AR+

    City Garden

I use this place most every time I go to Makati. The place is clean and secure and good price.3000-3500P per night.Walking distance from P Burgos street.
You willfind it better than most for this price.

I would send anyone here and I am sure they will agree.Who needs 5 stars when this 3 star is under scored.Big rooms modern first class for the price and location.Makati avenue. After all the gal will fuck your brains out in the bar so why dazzle her with the shangra la, or hyatt.

As for Cherry Blossoms you can not beat the location. Right next to the mall, 2 blocks from G spot, 3 blocks from Amazonia and 4 blocks to LA Cafe. You get a free breakfast but it is not much.

Read about both in the forum. Girl I am going to see recommended Garden Plaza - but the review on TripAdvisor is not too good.

Good review on TripAdvisor for Paco Park Oasis.

Finally, cost is a major factor...I don't really want to go above 2000 pesos (preferably under 1500 pesos) for a room.

I stayed at Garden City in makati last year - nice hotel. A little pricey and traffic is pretty bad in Makati.

What makes you lean towards these?

    Great imput Mahku!

Thank you for your imput Mahku. It was a great addition to my post on the Dusit and it is nice to see imput on a thread that can be beneficial to everyone coming to the P.I.

    Dusit

i've also stayed in the dusit a lot and agree with all of the good points. my pet peeve about this place is the taxi policy. i know about it and i don't mind walking down to the street and getting a meter taxi. however, some of the taxis that wait down below try on a scam where they pretend to be a 'hotel taxi' and charge a flat rate of 500 or more. i know how to handle this situation and put these asshole drivers in their place but a couple of my girls have been caught up by this. they didn't know any better and paid up. so before you send your girl back out into the cold cruel manila taxi world make sure she knows how to get a meter taxi for herself.

also, when going to the airport from the dusit take your bags past the left side of the checkin area and out to the side door. here you can get a meter taxi without hauling your bags down to the street. if you get a hotel taxi at the front they'll charge something like 800. the meter fare should be about 150.

    City Garden Makati

This is on Makati Ave just off of Kalayaan Ave. I can recommend this place. Only reason I left was because I found a really good deal on a condo nearby. I got an Executive room for Php 2900. This rate required at least a two week stay. Less than that, you'll get a Superior Room. That included the taxes, service charge and breakfast for two. I thought it was a good deal.

    Here is their website: http://www.citygardenhotels.com/makati/main.html.

City Garden have two other hotels in Manila, City Garden Suites and Lotus Garden, but I don't know anything about those places.

    Pros
    - clean room
    - good bed
    - decent view
    - courteous staff
    - good breakfast buffet
    - very close to P.Burgos
    - easy walking distance to Palacio Don Pedro (a good MP; search Makati thread for reports)
    - Greenbelt and Glorietta are just a Php 50 cab ride away. Sometimes more if traffic is very slow.

    Cons
    - Only 2 elevators and staff uses them as well as guests so I often found myself waiting awhile.
    - breakfast buffet closes at 10am, even on weekends.
    - Broadband connection was Php 573 per day or Php 17 per minute until you hit the maximum (doesn't take very long). If you have more than one laptop (as I did), each laptop is charged separately. If you don't mind not being in the room to do your work, take your laptop to Station 168, tell them you'll be there awhile and ask for one of their private booths. Not a whole lot cheaper if you stay 8 hours, but their pricing is more flexible for shorter stays and while I had to alternate my laptops, I wasn't charged extra.

Last recommendation: when taking a taxi back to City Garden from Greenbelt or Glorietta, get off by the 7-11 on P.Burgos. Sometimes it's jammed in there, you can get back faster on foot at that point.

    Oxford Suites

Stayed at the Oxford Suites last week, here is my information.

The good - you are right in the middle of the action on P. Burgos.

The bad - this hotel is beat. The rugs are stained, and the place stinks. On arrival they tried to put my friend and I in suites, claiming they had no other rooms. When we said "no thank you" and indicated we would get a cab to another hotel they came up with two Deluxe Standard rooms. The rate was 3200 pesos.

I did like the security. Female guests had to register, but with no hassle at all. The hotel called you to report they were leaving.

    Hotel Favorites And Why

Members are always asking about different hotels e.t.c. so I am curious to what other members opinions are for the best low end hotel, mid range, and the high end hotels in Makati and in Manila. I always choose to stay at the Dusit in Makati and usually get a rate between 75 to 80 U.S. dollars per night booking off a website. I choose this hotel because I feel it offers you the most for the dollar to meet my needs. I enjoy its location as it is close to Burgos and not far away from the malls. There are grocery stores, restaurants close by, it is girl friendly, it is not noisy, it has security, the rooms are clean and if you are not happy with your room the staff will do its best to move you. It also has a pool along with a bar and restaurant. Another great thing I like about this particular hotel is the fact that you are able to get a buffet breakfast included for 2 with the cost of the room, and the buffet is excellent. Anyone else care to share other hotels and why they choose them?. Another question I have is what websites do you use to book your rooms?. I have used asiahotels.com, and asiarooms.com
