I have just got back from Minx and it has been a strange week.coming from a Good life of living in London I had found it quite hard in Minx in terms of the cold and daily struggle of Life. The Girls are friendly and honest and really very sweet. Most who I met did not speak english too well, but were happy to talk to me. I went to Shayba (Westworld). Very nice and also very seedy with old guys and moustaches. I also went to Overtime (Definately seems like all Pro's there, I could tell by the line of Gucci & prada handbags on the bar). I also went to the bronx but it was quiet and Madsion (which was very small). Finally went to WhiteTower which was nice and I met a really nice girl there who I hope to see again. So to summarize if you want a Pro they are there avaliable, if you want a GFE they are also there (but will be harder if you don't have any Russian Skills). I am using Rosetta Stone to improve before I go back.

Good report from a probably of my next destinations but still wonder the procedures to get a visa? is too complicate and expensive? please your advices and prices of the pros and non pros (young students looking for some extra money) there

This was my first trip to Minsk.
I stayed in the Hotel Victoria. Hotel is okay. Arrived in the morning an early checkin was possible.

At lunch time I had to go to meeting in another hotel ("Minsk"). The people I met invited me after lunch in the hotel bar for coffee and some drinks. I was really surprised to see nice girls (20-30yo) in the hotel bar. When I was leaving I asked the concierge about their services and girls. He told me that the hotelbar at the Minsk would be a hot spot in order to meet girls, also at lunch time. Next time I will check this out.

The dinner was organized in a place outside my hotel. Since most of the guests were drunken after 2 hours I left the dinner party and went back to my hotel.

The hotel bar at the Victoria was occupied by some groups of Asian and French people. I ordered a beer and found some interesting girls. After some smiles 2 of them approached me, we chatted a little bit (english was fine) and then they offered me directly 150 Euro ST and 250 Euro LT for one ot them, twice for two. I opted for Clara (24yo, tall) . We had some additional drinks together, then I went with Clara to my room.
We showered together and went to bed. Since Clara was a little bit drunken, she fall asleep while chatting in the bed. I waited for a while, looked to her body (7/10) and felt also asleep. Visa:
Use a tourist agency to arrange your Visa/invitation letter/etc... for you, it's just so much easier and only costs ~$40
After that you just take the documents provided and pick up your Visa when your arrive at the airport in Minsk. I was asked to bring a passport sized photo but they never asked for it or used it. Visa at the airport was $180.
I used www.belhuntservice.com They were quick and spoke good english. Payment via bank transfer or PayPal only, no credit cards (though you can get a PayPal account with your credit card).

Apartment:
Hotels were expensive. $200/night plus. Some also may gripe about bringing guests. Get an apartment.
I stayed in two different apartments. The first was a single bedroom somewhat renovated place for 40 Euro a night. Very decent, wouldn't be ashamed to bring a girl back there. The other was a two bedroom, two living room, newly redone (and very nicely) bathroom and kitchen for 70 Euro/night. Both were located near Victory Square, which is a ten minute walk or one metro stop from central downtown. Neither had internet access, bummer. I used www.belhuntservice.com to find an apartment. They have more than what is listed on the website, they're helpfull, and they speak fine english.

Arrival:
You'll arrive at the Minsk-2 airport, locating a scenic 45 minutes away from the city. No train service, extremely infrequent buas service. Pay a taxi ~$25 or better yet have the travel agency that did your visa waiting for you, though it costs a bit more.

Subway:
Cheap, comes fairly often, doesn't go a whole bunch of places but can get you to the area. Buy a 600 ruble single use token at the cash counter.

Taxi:
By meter or distance/price matrix print-out the driver has. Price was about $.50 per kilometer.
I asked a Taxi driver for help finding prostitutes and he offered up the classifieds section of a newpsaper and offered to help with calling. Didn't have any places to drive me though to look in person. Maybe it was too early or too cold?

Car Service:
Hertz (amongst others) offers cars with drivers. Price for a nice four door with leather interior was USD $20/hour + gas.

Great service, great driver. Over 9 hours I got taken to eat, to shop, to do business, to tourist some nearby towns and to pick up a girl friend. Fuck public transportation, this was far easier than trying to figure out the trains, busses, and other BS. Driver spoke good english, new everywhere I wanted to go, and not a single complaint or "we can't do that"

Internet:
Not so many internet cafe's around. All the business hotel (Europe, Victoria, etc...) have business centers with cheap internet access. Some also have free wireless in the lobby.

ATM's:
I'm not saying there aren't any, but none of the ATM's I tried would take my Visa debit card. Mastercard debit card worked everywhere.

Expense:
Minsk was suprisingly pricey. Expect to pay Western (or higher) prices for western things (clothes, food, alcohol, etc...). A main course at a mid level restaurant is usually $20 to $30.
The low end price for girls started at $50/hour, $150/night and went up to $150/hour depending on the website and the girl. Very reasonable selection at the $50/hour range though.

Phone:
You can get a prepaid SIM for your mobile on the spot at some local phone shops (but AFAIK not at gas stations, stalls, etc...)
Privet was one brand name. Charge cards for the phone again seemed harder to find than in western countries. Hotel front desk didn't have any, stalls didn't have any. Only the phone shops. Stock up!
Calling international is also outrageosuly expensive. I recall at least $.50 per minute to Europe and over $1 per minute to the U.S.

Country code for Belarus is +375. After that, mobile phones will start with a 29, Minsk landlines start with 17. Both are then followed by seven digits. I have no idea how to call from a fixed phone. The one in my apartment was 20+ years old (made in the CCCP even) and shocked me whenever I touched it.

May have been some at the bus stop, I was too cold to check at night. A local friend tells me though that they gather in the area of (bus stop, etc..) the circus at the intersection of nezavisimosti and....

Clubs:
Went to WestWorld (Hotel Belarus) once. Middle of winter and a weeknight but still a good size crowd when I came around midnight. Plenty of pretty young gyrating things to watch. Got approached by a few girls at the bar, assume they were working. Didn't follow through as I was with company.

Internet:

The problem with both is:

(1) The majority of phones are switched off. On the first night when I started with minsklove around 10pm I called 20+ numbers before getting an answer. It's not always the case that these are bad listings, as in some cases I would call a number later on or the next day and get through. So if there's a specific girl you're interested in, best to look and call/e-mail in advance so you have some way to get in touch on the day they're needed.

(2) Most of the girls don't speak english. Of the five girls I did finally reach through the sites, only one spoke enough english to negotiate and arrange. A couple did know a very few words and were willing to be patient with my stumbling Russian. Nicely, no one hung up when I asked if they speak english, as has happened in some other places.
