I will be there from 10-12 March, if you want, we can hook up for a few drinks on 11th. I'm there every month for work. I usually meet up with another forumer there from KL. He's there every month as well.

I did the KTV thing in Donguang south China and did not like it at all. Waste of money and time.

Agree with you about chang ping, if you remember we had a KTV experiences together plus maybe 20 others guys last October, it was my last night and your first if I remember well.

I'm hooked with Jakarta now, by far better than chang ping!

I'll be back in town for a full 6 days of fun between 19-24 April 2010.I hHave got an open view on itinerary but will include AFF and AE contacts, visits to old haunts and forays into new:- Kartika, Alexis, Maribaya among the old and as I've never done other than eat in Blok M that area will be high on my agenda for the week. I have never had the karaoke experience eaither but reluctant to try it on my own.

Are you suggesting that a sophisticated world traveler such as yourself can not afford a $20 subscription to support this forum and all the work I do to keep it maintained.

A forum subscription is less than 40 cents a week. That's less than the price of a newspaper.

Hello there fellow mongering gentlemen,

Next week I'll be coming to the country for the first time and wouldn't mind meeting up for at least a brew or two. For any ex-Pats &/or experienced ISG brothers in Jakarta who are up for helping a newbie get his "sea legs", there will be much gratitude for their efforts. (It's been over 20 years since having been anywhere in Asia.)

I've a lot of reading to do here on the ISG and haven't even my accommodations yet. Yeah, I must be nuts. Staying in hostels and non-luxury hotels have been my normal mode when traveling and I hope to find something along those lines. I've at least a month to find my way around.

Any suggestions or advise are always welcome. Please feel free to PM me. Thanks.
