Interesting! I had a look on google maps and it's closer to the corner of Carrera 3 with 10 c. Is it safe to walk around there at night, because north of Calle 11 is supposed to be the dodgier part of town!

Well, I am staying in Calle 11 myself. The streets look a bit rough. Quite a few addicts sleeping on the streets and a few rough looking girls offering their services. But I go out most nights and never had any hassles. Calle 10 C is only 30 m walk away and it's a similar vibe tomy street. Calle 12 and down the people on the streets are rougher. But so far, only friendly.

Yes, it's closer to Cra 3, but the address is "con 2".

I heard from a little bird that there is another girlie club. Its called Club Castillo and it's in Playa Dormida, on Via Aeropuerto.

If I can be bothered to go out there, I will check it out. .

Finally got to visit another of the Putatorios (sex clubs) - Reno Bar.

It's a small club in Calle 10 c (con 2). It's a bit run down to say the least, but it is cheap. It's open 4 pm til late. There was approx 10 girls working there when I went aboout 8 pm. They mostly looked a bit rough, but it was definitely picking up a bit when I left, so it might be worth a look later on. I just couldn't be bothered to hang around.

I was definitely the only foreigner in the place. I doubt they ever see any! .

What are you talking about? The beach sucks. OTOH, Cartagena is definitely worth a visit for the old walled city. But three days is enough.

My first visit years ago was to Cartagena, and I'm glad I got to see it. But haven't been back since.

Well, you said it yourself, three days is enough to see the place, the beach sucks and you haven't been back ! Yes, the old town is gorgeous, as I said myself on the Cartagena thread. On the other hand it's not much fun wandering around it with all the hagglers and beggers!

Well, personally unlike a lot of you guys I coudn't care less about a beach so that didn't bother me. Like you said it has decent hotels and a lively bar and restaurant area. My hotel also had a great rooftop pool where I could hang around. The average woman walking around Santa Marta was WAY better looking than Cartagena, and its an authentic small Colombian city that doesn't only count on tourism. That's what I liked about the place.

Cartagena on the other hand seems to rely entirely on tourism. I was only there for 5 days but wasn't sad to leave the place. Bocagrande had NO redeeming features to me whatsoever (as like I said I'm not into the beach), it's just a concrete sprawl of tourists, fast food joints, restaurants and pretty ugly locals. I can count the number of sexy looking women I saw there on one hand. The old town is pretty but packed full of street vendors and beggers, and the talent at the clocktower was pretty desperate the two nights I checked it out!

That's easy. Beach. I love Medellin, and look forward to spending some time in Bogota. That beings said, Cartagena is a shithole- a hot, humid tourist trap. Everything is more expensive, everyone's on the take, and IMO the women are not even in the same league as Paisa chicas. You can't blame people for trying to find a beach town with a good mongering scene- well, you obviously can, but most reasonable people don't. Lighten up, Francis!

I can't disagree with any of your observations and experiences. My biggest gripe just about anywhere on the northern coast is the constant barkers and vendors harassing you every 10 seconds, just too much to bear, in my life I have been know to have the patience of Job but now when I am anywhere on the coast I just look at them and tell them to fuck themselves, sad but true.

Have to agree with you about Cartagena. I can just about understand it's attraction for tourists looking for a beach holiday, but that's about it! I reckon the mongers who like it either have too much money to care how much or how they're spending it, and just don't notice or don't care if the locals and the chicas alike are unfriendly and jaded!

Not me! If I am in a city or place I want girls available 24 hours a day. In the morning and afternoon you get a choice of one of the six little piggie at Bananas and just about nothing in Santa Marta around the parks. Sometimes absolutely nothing. In Parque de Novios there aren't hookers and there is always police to chase them out. In Parque Bolivar and the Malecon. Yes, but very hit and miss until hours that I like to be sleeping. I live in Rodadero and there is nothing here. Al fin. With all that Colombia has to offer why anyone would bother with Santa Marta for chicas is beyond me. (I have lived in Cartagena, Medellin and Bogota. Bogota is a capital of Chicas!

We will be in SMR 7. 2-7. 6 and are looking to do some offshore fishing. I got 3 contacts off of Fay-boo! 2 had sailboats for rent & one guy knew a guy who had a boat but no gear & didn't know where to go so we would have to hire someone else to go with us as well as rent the gear. What a nightmare.

Does anyone know a fishing charter Capt. That a boat, has fishing gear, knows where to go and whose job is to take people fishing?

Any help would be appreciated.

I will be in town hitting the street scene (Malecon, Parque Bolivar / Novio) this coming week if anyone wants to meet up. Besides looking for Chicas (I do not do the bar scene) I will be taking a day trip up to the nearby town with waterfalls, etc.

Have two Hotel rooms, one at the AC Marriott and the other a few blocks from Parque de Novios for all of my Novias!

I went there at New Year during the day time to ask if it was open! Haha. It was, but I got distracted in to doing smthg else and never got to round to going in the evening.
