Posts: 812There are plenty of apartments that any taxi driver will be able to take you to in Rodadero. I liked Edificio San Carlos.

Maybe someone that has been to Santa Marta with their Colombia girl can recommend me some place to stay for less than 100k pesos a day. What are the odds of me finding lodging during the high season without reservation?

Hi Guys,
I've been to all the big cities in Colombia, and didn't like Cartagena too much because of the filthy beaches and the endless touts driving me crazy, although the CTG women were incredible.
I want to get away and just lay on a beach for a week, with clean beaches, good food, and good women. That's the type of trip I want this time. I'm getting mixed feelings about Santa Marta reading this board. Would you guys recommend it for what I want, or is there a better place, or is CTG still the best bet?
Also, if I do go to to SM how would I go about finding a girl-friendly hotel. I assume apartments are all girl friendly. That is, based on some of what I'm reading, if I'd even find a girl there.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You have to work a little harder. Flamingos and Bananas are about the best places in town and I'm sure they are hit and miss. A taxi driver told me there were 2 new places in town now too. Drove by one of them. I had my novia with me so I couldn't comment on the service. She was willing to go to Bananas but I knew that was a bad idea. That place is more of a chongo and less of a bar or strip club.

You can show up on the scene in Rodadero at the beachside (it's a really short street) and you'll be mobbed by people offering you apartments to stay in. It's not difficult there.

Any updates on a nice (beachside?) place to stay in SM? I'll be traveling with the gf from CTG, so no need for the place to be girl-friendly. I would like the place to be pretty nice, since I'll be on vacation and it will be her birthday.
Is there a normal (non-P4P) site that guys are using to find lodgings in off-the-beaten-path places like Santa Marta?
Also, any advice on the quickest way to get between CTG & SM overland would be appreciated. We'll be hitting the road in the late afternoon, so I would love it if the trip could be as short as possible.
Thank you in advance.

I recently entered Santa Marta on a few consecutive nights. I was quite disappointed by what I saw.
I went to Bananas first. The talent was mediocre at best. Beers were a little expensive at 4, 000. Somehow I ended up talking to a black chica who wanted 80, 000 or so for an hour. I left soon thereafter.
The street chica scene is centered around the bayside avenue that runs along the beach. There are some restaurants here with sidewalk seating and decent food. If you're standing on the avenue and looking at the beach, the street chicas will congregate down on the far side of the avenue to your right. The chicas come out around 9 pm. I recall seeing 12 of them. I chose the only one without a gut, a chica from Valledupar. We went to a nearby hotel- 40, 000 for her and 5, 000 for the hotel.
The nearby town of Taganga has no P4P whatsoever. I'm not sure about Rodadero.

Posts: 115Thanks for the reply but I mainly stick with pro's and semi pro's in Colombia. Life gets too complicated when you end up with 12 girls who all plan on saying goodbye to you at the airport !
So looks like I will relax at the beach during in the daytime, then off to manizales the following week.
