Since my return to Beijing I have been getting those little massage cards more and more often. They advertise FS for 300rmb but the last one I got (two days ago) had it for only 258rmb. One card does not make a trend but there has been a lot of competition recently. In my experience most of these girls are not very pretty but about half the time I am happily surprised. agree with phil. china is generally safe in terms of getting ripped off, robbed or killed, at least compared to the us or some other countries. i also frequently use his method to find a hotel. once a hotel does on line bookings, the price goes way up and the quality is not necessarily better. it is often better just to go and ask locals. regarding girls, the danger is not so much from them or their pimps but from local le and from diseases the girls who may not get medical care. also, i have suspected that some of the girls that work at low end bbs and similar places are ****. it would be terrible if this were the case and you were caught by le in the act. so i stay away from the sleazier cheaper bbs places at least most of the time.

The whole thing reminds me of cheap hotels in China. Like last time I was in Shanghai this summer I arrived at the new Shanghai railway station looking for a cheap hotel. I looked at several supposedly budget places like 168 Motel close by, but they all asked for something like a 250-300 RMB minimum for a room. Then I just went with one of the women who lurk around the railway station offering cheap hotels, she lead me to some guy in a van, we drove for 20 minutes or so into a low-class neighbourhood and I got a perfectly decent room for 130 RMB. The next day I walked around that place and there were lots of low-end brothels around there as well. Just depends on whether you consider it too risky to step into a van with some Chinese people you don't know who just tried to sell you a cheap hotel room or cheap sex.

My first sex in China back in 2000 I had the same way. I just got into a taxi in Beijing and asked the driver whether he knew where you could get girls, he took me to some buddy of his, I got into the buddies van and we drove to some Hutong which also doubled a a brothel. The whole thing worked out just fine, even though at the time I was also shitscared they were going to rob me, kill me and dump me into a ditch or something.

Shanghai and Beijing are far safer than Southern Guangdong, for instance. Also I believe 'Phil' speaks good mandarin. In Moscow, a driver once took me to a desolate area instead of my hotel. Fortunately I could speak passable Russian. I grabbed him by the hair, put my knife in his ear and asked him to take me to my hotel.

I dont know catacombs exist in KM. I have searched Chinese blogs on da pao in Kunming and found only neighborhoods with BBS or massage places that offer FS for 100 to 150 but nothing like those catacombs for less than 50. In any case, even the cheap bbs are not very safe. Once, I went into a hidden room behind a mirror (really) with a girl and while we were in there, the police came to check on the place outside. We had to stay there for almost an hour before the police left and we could leave our hiding place. Not too much fun.

I would imagine it would be nice to check into a hotel in a small town and take an inexpensive xiaojie to my room.

There's been reports of fights, beatings, robberies, etc. at the Catacombs in CP. Perhaps even kidnappings, since there has been reports in CP of touts or girls or promises of girls luring guys to a enclosed space and then he's trapped. Over at another site, one guy mentioned that a girl tried to persuade him to go into the Catacombs. who knows if she's legit or a scam, but better safe than sorry. Don't go with her.

Problem with this is that it not safe, not clean and short. Also the girls are not trained and not experrienced and do not like oral. It is bette to pay a bit more but not too much.

Just like being offered cheap iPhones "stolen from the factory"... just say NO and don't regret passing up a too good to be true deal in China (especially CP). Lots of scams and the consumer getting a great cheap deal for the real thing in China is pretty rare.

IMHO, the cheapest is still "Catacombs" style action in hutongs. Standard FS price is 30-50 RMB depending on location and some of the older gals may give it up for 20 RMB.

Most HJ places in S. China have raised prices to 40 RMB.

Next level up are the BBS catering to local punters for 50 RMB. These are usually located inside small villages where the girls are just sitting inside a room, rather than any BBS front.

You can still find older SW in some places for 60 RMB FS.

I reckon the average price for standard BBS action near a major city is 130 RMB. It gets cheaper the further out you go from the city, and in smaller cities, with FS at 70-100 RMB for locals. It is difficult to find it for less than that.

As a foreigner, you always risk being charged a "laowai surcharge" on the above prices.

Run a thread search in Dongguan and you will find a wealth of information. Most cities in South China have these areas catering to locals; especially migrant workers. Not for the faint hearted. I have not seen this action in other parts of China but I have not gone looking either. Does it exist in Kunming?

Cheapest I know in my neighborhood is in the mid size cities south of Kunming. BBS full service for 50 to 100. In Kunming near the train station there is a report of 150 but possibly lower and in the poorer xiao Qu barber shops, 150 is standard.
