Just for the records, I confirm that the map was stolen from me. When I was informed of it, I just deleted the image uploaded so the link no longer works. To confirm I'm the owner of this map, it's now re-uploaded here: http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?i...tesalontv9.jpg.

He has also stolen a couple of my reports, and even my "avatar" (custom-made logo) used on other forums (but to be honest he removed it immediately when I contacted him by PM).

Like I say, it's just for the records. I don't care if he's banned or not.

i've been searching thoroughly in vv history + google and that's what i found. according to his blog, he has never been to serbia, turkey, estonia, albania, armenia, montenegro, belgium, spain, finland, bulgaria, bosnia and herzegovina. i know that "members are permitted to post the results of their internet research". but he never mentionned the source (so we could evaluate credibility and date) and reports as his own experience.

Greetings everyone,

After receiving several complaints over the past year, I reviewed Aganguly80's posting history.

In three years he has posted 56 "reports", all of which are criticisms about other forum members, and not one of them providing any actionable information.

Apparently he was one of the older members who were grandfathered into Senior Member status three years ago, and thus his BS was never subject to review. Eventually, I will eliminate all of these unqualified members.

Anyway, enough is enough.

Jackson, I still don't understand why you let him spread so many fake informations about places where he has never been. You can ban him twice, if he comes back another time I think he will be easily spotted. This is not what I thought about this forum and it discourages me from contributing. I won't attack VV permanently like WB but I don't feel like reporting my last trip in Poland if plagiarism and mythomania are not punished.

The answer is: I haven't banned VV because I don't know with any level of certainty that he is posting "fake information about places where he has never been".

In other words, I can't disprove a negative, and neither can you.

If he was posting about Latin America, an area in which I would be well qualified to ascertain the validity if his reporting, and I knew that his reports were inaccurate, then I would be justified in taking action.

But he's not posting about Latin America, he's posting about Eastern Europe, and the only "evidence" I have that his posts are fabricated is an occasional complaint to the effect that "VV has never been to XYZ". Additionally, I have never received a complaint asserting that one of his reports are inaccurate.

My suggestion to all VV detractors:

A. Add him to your "Ignore" list and you'll never see his posts again.

or...

B. Send me links to three VV reports that contain gross inaccuracies that are concretely verifiable, and I'll delete everything he's ever posted and terminate his membership. By "gross inaccuracies" I mean things like posting an address that doesn't exist, or stating that he went to a certain "business establishment" and had a blond chick, and the website of said establishment clearly states that they offer only brunettes. etc.

To clarify:

1. He didn't change his name, my assistant inadverently gave him permission to change it, and I changed it back after I discovered what had happened. He is now barred from changing it again.

2. No, it is not Ok for banned members "to come back shortly after being banned".

3. "Could you ban Romano V aka Vince Voyeur for life?" No, it is virtually impossible to permanently ban someone from a free forum.

FYI, I have banned VV from posting links, which does take some of the wind from his sails.

Reason: 149 posts, none of them providing any information, 80% of them direct attacks on Vince Voyeur/Romano V (not that VV doesn't deserve the comments, but that's not the point).

Wise Buddy is one of the small number of forum members from the early days of the forum who was grandfathered into unmoderated Senior Member. As such, he was never vetted through the now established process of being required to post 25 non-problematic posts before being granted said status, and therefor has freely roamed the forum "under the radar" like a drunk driver.

Eventually, I'll get them all.
