Some bears read in restaurant / dining area. Not complete sure if there is enough light to read downstairs by the indoorpool during the night, may depend on your eyes. Regarding Berlin tour: Take the train to Alexander platz, take your walk tour visit the Berliner Dom, and continue to the Bradenburg gate, getting the 'street feeling'. From there take another long walk to checkpoint Charlie and visit one museum about the wall (there is one just opposite checkpoint). If you have time take the Ubahn to east side gallery as you mentioned. The Reichstag is impressive but you will need time and there is also a queue this time of year.
