Just coming back from a 5 days trip in Berlin including 3 visits at Artemis.

Usually that's my same time of arrival, maybe a bit later beacause I'll stay in until the morning.
I usually hang around downstairs, under the stairs, but after what I've been reading.... I'm not sure :-)

When a large group of people, possibly friends, hit Artemis or any other place for sure you are going to get attitudes. I went through this once with a group of Iranians, the security stopped a guy and prevented me from ending up arguing heavily. One thing I like about Germany (and many other places) is the general feeling of order and civic sense. Not saying it's perfect but for sure moving around in Berlin is different than Milan.

'Alone in Berlin' by Hans Fallada is an interesting account by a Berliner of everyday life in Nazi Germany.

I've just finished that book Charlie and thought it was an excellent read. Although fictional, it is based on a true story and gives a great insight into the little known subject of dissidents to the Nazi regime. Reading the information about the author at the end of the book, he led an incredible life. Highly recommended.

Returning to topic, I am also English and wash. But only on days like today, when it's 27 degrees and after having to travel on the Tube.

One final P.S.-I think it good to remember that even in Nazi Germany earlier in this century most folks were not "Jew hating Nazis". Most people were just plain folk trying to survive a crazy situation. But as the Nazi were so damn "loud" this is what gets remembered.

I think that it is fair today to say that German people are amongst the most liberal and socially inclusive and least prejudiced of all the European nations. It is also true to say that Jewish people enjoyed generous German hospitality for many decades before the ascent to power of the Nazis. However, your widespread exoneration of the behaviour of German citizens during the thirties and forties is tough to support. Modern-day Germans appear to have accepted the principle of collective historic responsibility for the crimes of their predecessors during this period and this appears to me to be appropriate. 'Alone in Berlin' by Hans Fallada is an interesting account by a Berliner of everyday life in Nazi Germany that has only recently come to light and entered publication. I found it very educational. Whilst the book does not in any particular way focus on issues of Jewish persecution, it certainly doesn't serve to support your viewpoint either.

I think that there is far too much national stereotyping on this forum. Whether it be the suggestion that Romanian girls are generally poor SP's, or that Italian males are badly behaved guests or that clubs in Hessen are right to exclude Turkish guests as potential pimps, these blanket generalisations have no place in an arena such as this.

Before the Artemis thread descends in to becoming the "All Italians are shits" thread (and I know that is not necessarily what you are saying SC) I think we should revise, at least I will take it upon myself to revise, the above to-The behavior of some Italians shows a lack of culture.But they are certainly not alone in this.

I do not think Italy or Italians are by nature culture-less rubes. It is just that as a nation they may share a shadow identity that puts women(who*es in particular) down. After all, the Madonna/Who*e complex was probably born in Italy, where by every woman is a reflection of either THE MOTHER (Madonna) or THE WHO*E (Mary Magdalena). Simply there are the women you marry and then those you fuck. But I also might ad that the Italian cultue is by no means alone in disrespecting working girls. Look at the US of A, or anywhere really, but especially where prostitution is criminalized.

In the end I think it comes down to how we, the individual men who visit the individual girls in real time, act towards them. Do we also, as in any good business deal, take a bit of time to reflect that the girl is getting what she needs in the deal? Money yes, but also a bit of respect and recognition.
