Dedalus's advice is spot on. Razzias are always a possibility. Basic rule-of-thumb: if it'll get you through immigration at the airport, it'll be OK for a razzia at an FKK. I've not once visited an FKK without my passport.

Well I am certainly grateful that this topic came up. Truth be told it would never have occurred to me to bring my passport on an Artemis visit and I have never heard of a Razzia before.

First off, thank you all for the kind words on my first report, I always appreciate feedback!

I'm heading home today and have a flight to catch in a few hours, so I can for now only give you my report on my second day at Artemis.

But first though, a few corrections to my last report:

When you get off the train at Westkreuz, the signs above the stairs aren't yellow at all as I first stated, but the standard dark blue as in all stations.

You get up the stairs and then another set of (smaller) stairs, and you then get to another platform. Look for some stairs that seem to be at the "end" of the platform and walk toward it.

You should now see a sign which says "Ausgang" and something else, get up it and the rest you already know ("tunnel", parking lot, etc.) I'd just like to make this clear so some other ISGer won't be walking around looking for some stairs with a yellow sign hanging above.

And also a general tip for anyone travelling with the local transport in Berlin: as someone else stated, make sure you ALWAYS put your ticket in the little red box OUTSIDE the trains (on the actual platform).

Not sure how often Artemis has to deal with a "Razzia" but legal business or not, this is something that ever FKK in Germany has to expect from time to time. It really is usually not that big a deal, but having either your passport or some type of accepted ID just in case is a good idea.

I've posted about this topic before, but it is worth repeating. I've been in different clubs during various raids. Most were simply routine and a few were close to scary (Oase, a few years back). The first one I was ever at happened at Babylon. They kept all the guys in one area and the girls in another. All of the guys had their identification documents looked at very carefully and even photographed. One dude had to leave with the police because he had no ID on him. He was probably OK, but the cops were serious about their control that day.

Here's the point: If you have acceptable identification when a raid occurs (and you are not a wanted man), then a Razzia may be annoying, but it is relatively painless. Carrying one's passport, or European identity card into a club is a sensible way to avoid possible inconveniences that the German Kripo can cause a Gent if they decide to.

Artemis is a safe club and a guy's passport and wallet are going to be fine in those tiny lockers.

If there is a Razzia or a police raid, you will need to show a passport. You cannot go running around the country without an ID. They will ask for similar documentation if you are stopped driving a car or in the subway or walking down a street.

I've never stopped in Germany (No, wait. I was stopped once leaving GT behind the wheel of a car - it was an alcohol check) but the police have the right to accost you anywhere, anytime in France and demand to see an ID. Its done very often in the Paris subway.

They also had a requirement that you have a minimum amount of money on you (I can't remember correctly any more it was something like 50 Francs - this was way before they introduced the Euro).

This isn't the US and they have the right to do so.

If there is a Razzia or a police raid, you will need to show a passport. You cannot go running around the country without an ID. They will ask for similar documentation if you are stopped driving a car or in the subway or walking down a street.
