I have to disagree with the "Germans not as nice as the Asian & Dutch" comment. I am not German nor look like one. Asian & Dutch guys are nice, but I have met many local German men @ the clubs who were very nice & willing to share info. Some have really gone out of their way to help me when asked. Most do kind of have a serious look, but always were happy to help when I had a question. This also applies to the Germans outside the club (airport, restaurant, gas station, train station & etc.).

I do not know man. As NORE has noted sometimes customer service is not the forte of the reception staff. I mean read the reports on the Oase thread about all the guys that bemoan that they think the Oase reception staff have it in for them when they pay their 65€ entrance fees.

Some of the reception staff do not speak very good English and so instead of being embarassed by using their perceived bad english they use hand gestures. I mean she may not have realised that you spoke english or german and decided hand gestures were universal. I mean did you say anything to her or look in stunned silence as she waved no at you?

Before I even get to the black iron gate I had usually before then had smiled and waved and said "Guten Tag" to the car park security guys, waved hello to any other guys walking to the entrance, shook hands with any ijsberen I knew and taken my place in the queue for the door.

When the reception staff come out to look me over before letting me I give them a cheesey smile and a "Guten Tag" as well. As said before did you say anything to the reception person at all during your exchange?

What was the reaction of your friend? Did he feel like he had been mistreated?

I think they know some guys travel a long way to get to the club. I mean some ijsberen are amazed that men come across the Atlantic Ocean to visit this club or even come from the lands that are warmed by the Pacific Ocean.

For me, it takes from the door of my home from across the Channel to the door of Golden Time on a good day 5 hours in elapsed time. This involves walking to the bus stop, a bus to the airport, more walking to the airplane, a plane flight, walking again through the airport on the other side, picking up and driving a hire car and a short walk from the GT carpark to the entrance way. That is quite a distance and a fair bit of investment in time and expense.

I have made quite a few walks in that German forest around Golden Time and I have even walked across to the Netherlands as well as it is so close. There is an old army training ground, with buried bunkers, tank traps, military roads and debris of a by gone army's occupation. The area is now home to birds of prey, deer, a really huge black beetle that comes out in summer, big fat pigeons, different types of grasses and tussocks and yes dense forest to hide these creatures.

Even Camp Heide down the road on Barbarastrasse appears to be a converted army camp come bed and breakfast establishment.

GT is always pretty busy & can afford to be rude to a tourist that might visit again. I am not defending the way you & your friend were treated, but this is not the first or last time it will happen. Last year I saw a group of young Arab looking men dressed like hip hop wannabes standing outside the entrance until two security guards came & told them to get lost.

The place is always crowded & you hear reports of a "gay club" atmosphere. The GT staff has always treated me well & is the only "big" club where I have never seen a fight or argument among the male clients. The clubs that let the Turks in................ well, that's another story.

It really sucks to have it happen to you when you have traveled from long distances, but just man up & go someplace else.

Skristel, I have to agree with you on all counts. However, I dont they really put much emphasis on 'customer service', they aren't trained for that

1) Go to GT, why. I don't know but have something special not only girls, I found people from everywhere there especially ducths and asains which are more friendly than Germans as they are as lost as you.

2) Saturday or Sunday don't go to GT go to VV, you can get rejected at Gt or find yourself waiting one hour or more for a room. If you go to GT anyway go soon.

3) Food is ok no need to have breakfast or dinner outside this places (expecially good at VV and YY)

Praying for be healthy tomorrow and can enjoy GT a couple of times before leaing.

Yes, the thekefrau coming out to check on the visitors before being refusing entry is the usual way. It makes sense since how will the visitors know that they are refused entry if the thekefrau did not come out to wave no to them? Customers wil ljust stand at the door for ages before they realise somthing is amiss and keep buzzing the door thinking the thekefrau is busy or not heard the door bell.

I understand that there are cameras in the entrance way to see on coming visitors. Just like there are several cameras in the men's locker room covering all angles. You can see them. So when you take that shower or get dressed/undressed make sure you put on a show for the cameras!!!

I do not think their entrance system has an intercom system or loudspeaker that allows the thekefrau at the videoscreen to tell the would be customers that they are full. The thekefrau has to go out to tell them. And as you say give them a look over just to make sure that they do not recognise them as regular customers.

My guess is that turning away customers based on race occurs on busy days when they know they will fill up. I think the door staff has been instructed to turn away visitors who are obviously not regulars. This gets interpreted as non-Dutch or German, which becomes non-whites. I don't think they ever turn away east Asians.

BTW, the friend I was with who was turned away is now a regular there and is never turned away.

It happens, always have a plan B.

As Ekliges Lauern says always have a plan B when going to a club especially one as busy as Golden Time.

As Rigoleto says sometimes the club is so busy that they refuse new customers. Even in the mid afternoon the club can be packed by then already. The management do try and keep a decent ratio of girls to men and if not enough girls are working then the management will limit the number of men allowed in.

To be sure of entry come at or close to opening time and queue up with the others that open the club.
