Both of these vaccines are very good, far better than most used for other diseases although Pfizer and Moderna are even better. What's needed is to get people vaccinated with whatever is available. More infections with less severity means one of two things, maybe both, more testing and vaccines protecting the vulnerable from getting very sick.

I think we ISG readers have been subjugated to this phenomenon on this very thread as well as our various social media and "news" accounts.

The FDA and CDC are dropping the ball big time and letting the agents of misinformation dictate the conversation. They should probably be making press releases 5 times a day right now, giving a play by play of everything they're doing to clarify the investigation process and explaining relative risk data. Instead, they've allowed the poorly informed to perpetuate their half truths to an impressionable public.

This is definitely another fail for public health administrations. Letting physicians lead the pandemic response was the biggest mistake of 2020. Providers are trained scientifically, empirically, and methodical. But this pandemic should have been led by public health officials because they are better apt to handle the problem from a population level approach. Clear, effective communication of strategy and succinctly informing the public at the societal level have consistently been constant failures. Strike 1.

Now in 2021, the handling of what any insightful person could easily predict to create "a perfect storm of misinformation" has been incredibly mismanaged. We need public health people to direct the response to a public health problem and we need them to do it much more effectively. Strike 2.

Revising my thinking slighty and getting optimistic. I think GT with its many cabins *outside* is in great shape to open in Summer.

- Especially with rapid / quick COVID tests coming up.

- We will have to assume that showering is most likely NOT an option. So please all, come already clean. Washing after the toilet of course is doable.

- And there will be heavy mask restrictions, outside, indoors, and esp. In the room.

- Significant room ventilation / desinfection after usage.

- Eating can be implemented nicely outdoors too.

- no hovering around indoors. Unless you have FFP2 masks on. Zip on your glass outside.
