It's smack halfway between both, so I figured it'd be a good place to stop to break up the long 2. 5 hour drive. I figured why not drive just an hour or so from Bad Homburg, stop at Finca for 3-4 hours to make a "deposit" or two and get a decent meal before finishing my journey to NRW?

I am pretty sure you are correct. I remember seeing older frauen with their groceries walking down the hill from the store next door. I took it for granted they were going down to the bus because I did see some bus signs there on the main stretch but I don't believe I've ever met a monger in Finca that has used public transit.
