Thanks DS! I'm looking at either late April or sometime in May, so this info will is quite helpful. Regarding the Crowne in Cebu, I am assuming you mean this hotel right?

    http://www.crownregencyhotels.com/ho...mmodations.php

Seems to have in-room internet (wired, I assume), which is more important to me than wireless throughout the hotel, so this is looking like a good candidate for me. If I head up to Davao for a few days I'll keep the Marco in mind.

    Working remote from the Philippines?

ds, ge, hope you two can help out here. i've been trying to plan a vacation to pi for some time now, but various work emergencies keep coming up that prevent me from taking more than a few days off at a time.

fortunately though, i have a job that lets me work from anywhere, as long as i have a good internet connection, so i am considering an extended working vacation instead (2-3 weeks). maybe put in 4 hours/day keeping up with emails, a few phone calls over skype, etc., then spend the rest of my time enjoying the company of the lovely ladies.

so, any recommendations for quiet, companion-friendly hotels that are reasonably secure with reliable power and high speed internet? price wise i would prefer something under $80/night, with decent food in the area. at this point, any city is fine, as long as "opportunities" abound. i figure i could always take weekend trips to other locations as desired.

    Xman and GE - Thanks

    Thanks for the replies.

I made it to Davao for a short week.

No offense intended, but wanted to share my experience with Chardon's, Red Knight, and Paradise.

Chardon's may be good, but very expensive compared to before (at least what DS ballparked alterations). Brian quoted me P850 to take in my slacks (waist and thighs) and P4000 to take in my jacket. Lead time. At least a week. For that I decide to just buy new suits in the US. 3 Day Suit Broker in LA has CK suits for $159, less for less famous tag.

Red Knight was ok, but the others with me didn't care for the ants in the kitchen, bathroom, or living room. Also did not receive daily towel service. The restaurant was good with reasonable pricing. Karen is a sweet girl. Interesting seeing the 60. 70 year old men with the 18. 20 year old females. Since I was with company, I could not party with a few of the perm. Residents, could be a good time.

Paradise was good for day trips. Enjoyed it even with low tide and weekday.

    Thanks again.

The answer is yes, as has already been posted. Just a quick warning in case you are a late riser like me, the place seems to shut down about 5pm. After 5pm the boats will try to convince you that a private boat charge is necessary, but there are regular boats after 5pm. At least one for the employees who live in Davao.

If you go snorkeling, be advised that there is a strong current. Figure out where the current will take you and enter the water up-current. Don't be a dumbass like me and spend 15 min swimming and getting nowhere.

Thanks for the feedback GE. I don't have PM function for the dentist information, but will look for the one in Matina Square as mentioned by DS.

How much for a massage with HE or BJ at the Apo View basement?

    Thanks again.

Davao sounds like a nice city with many city conveniences.

I am looking for recommendations for the following:

    - Tailor for alterations for a few suits (I've recently lost alot of weight and need my jackets and slacks taken in) What is a fair price for such work? Chardin Tailor around the corner from the Apo View Hotel. It's the best in town and does and excellent job, with lovely cloth from Italy, France and England.

    - Dentist: I have a few crowns needed in the molars. The price I've found in Manila is starting at 150 US with standard metal Contact me by PM and I'll send you the contact information on my dentist. She's excellent.

    - A nice condotel or hotel that can hold 3 adults and 2 toddler.

There are several. You could take an apartment at Red Knight Garden, or try the Micro Hotel on Aliongto Rd. The latter's not a condohotel but it's got some enormous rooms.

Also is Paradise Island close enough for day trips? Paraside Island is about a 5 minute boat ride and you can easily spend a few hours there and make it back to Davao whenever you want.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Firedick, consider Sabang/Puerto Galera/White Beach

Some of the best land-based diving in the country, plus five or six girlie bars on Sabang Beach. From what I saw last month in two of the bars plus walking around Sabang during the day, the attractiveness of the girls is consistently higher than the girls in AC. I was with my gf so I couldn't do a test drive, but there was some very decent trim walking around.

    CDO...another option

DS is correct. I've not been to Dumaguete and, despite the fact that its laid back, I probably wouldn't find it appealing. I'm strictly a city boy and get nervous with too much nature and not enough concrete! However, one alternative that I would consider is CDO. It's a smallish city, but it's got pretty much everything that Davao has, albeit on a smaller scale. It's reasonably clean; it's got decent (but not outstanding) restaurants; good hotels, malls and other shopping areas, and it's reasonably attractive. From what I understand from colleagues of mine who live there, it's also got a reasonably low crime rate.

DS has written about CDO fairly extensively and recently, and commented to me while we were there together that he could live in CDO. I understand fully why he said this.

    Thanks

    Gentlemen,

I'm a former regular poster and former resident of Angeles and Manila (commuted).

Back in the states now dreaming of the day I get to retire and move back. As with many of you, it seems, I'm looking for something less hectic than AC. So, I'm considering the south. As an avid diver, the under sea side is almost as important as the top side fun.

I'm leaning toward Palawan, based solely on what I've learn from non-sex travel sites. Yes... I will "RTFF" deligently, but would appreciate any personal input you guys might have.

Next RP trip has to wait until April 2011, and I'm gonna try not to let my pecker do all the thinking,, as to where we're going, and do some real research into living locales.

Regardless of responses. Thank you much for the info already provided.

    Dumaguete

    Dragon Slayer,

I agree that Dumaguete is really an enjoyable place, even if it is "low rent."

There isn't fine dining, unless the steak place on the boulevard counts (Attilo's?). I like the simple stuff, like Shakey's, the Persian Palate, Jo's Chicken Inato, and the cafeteria at Scooby's.

I like the view of Siquijor from the food court on the upper floor of Lee Super Plaza.

There used to be an Angelo's Italian, owned by a guy straight from Italy, but it wasn't there this July when I was in town.

The town is safe and easy to get around on foot. I studied Thai boxing and eskrima there (Look up Khru Ike Villaflores), and there are nice places just out of town, like Sea Foerest, Apo Island, Siquijor, Casaroro Falls, Mabinay, etc. There are several small theaters, too.

When you get tired of Dumaguete, Cebu isn't very far.

My girlfriend really enjoyed it. I think it's a great place to get away from Cebu for a while.

    Dumaguete

I started the Dumaguete thread on the other Forum back in late 2004. I do not believe my pal, GoodEnough has made it here. I like Dumaguete City for its beauty, lovely sea views and lack of traffic or crowds. Nothing in the way of fine dining, elegant hotels or anything. I once viewed all the Hotels along the Boulevard. None were above standard and the Bethel House is owned and operated by some right wing religious extremists. Must sing an "agreement" upon check-in that you will NOT drink alcoholic beverages, smoke or bring women in the hotel. What is the point of staying there then???
    ty
I stayed at a smal resort on the opposite end of the Island once. Took a 45 minute taxi ride to get there from the Boulevard. It was nice but absolutely nothing there once you arrived and after 7PM you were stuck there until morning. When I stayed in a Hotel on the Boulevard directly to the left of the "What Not Bar" the room was standard and the hotel had nothing to offer in amenities. The "What Not Bar" and its Disco are where everyone hangs out from morning until evening.

This is a very inexpensive place to live. A good 25%-35% less than Cebu City. Quiet, peaceful but with little in what I enjoy suck as nightlife, fine dining and decent places to go and listen to music in the night. Does have a few Go-Go Bars with dancers that stay open until 02:00AM and down the corner of the Boulevard is an Open Air Restaurant that is open until 05:00AM.

You are 3 1/2 hour boat ride from Cebu and flights go daily to Manila from the small AIrport. Do not think any flights go to Davao or Cebu.

    Sorry for Late Reply

    Minuteman

Sorry for replying so late. I did not check this Board. I made my first twelve (12) Trips to asia solely visitng Thailand. Then I discovered the Philippines. My former wife is Thai. I spean the language almost fluently. I doubt there is a more avaricious woman than a Thai woman. And YES, I have had girlfriends there who were educated and from good families.

For the Airport proximity you need to stay in Davao City, Cebu City or Cagayan de Oro. Ormoc City is nice and has the internet access, coffee shops and tons of beautiful, young women. But you are one and one half hours to the nearest airport in Tacloban. Not much for fine dining, which is on my List, though you did not mention it.

Davao City would be your best move. It has Bo's Coffee Shops all over and the Airport is only 20 minutes from downtown. Tons of women to fuck. Pros, semi pros and regular women. I go for the regular girls here age 18-30. They love to fuck and most do not become clingy. I have three age 18, 24 and 24 that I see and fuck every Trip. It is my guess that all three have filipino boyfriends but I cannot state this absolutely. They all come by to see me before or after work or on their days off. The 18 y/o sees me between classes, blows and fucks me quickly. She then showers, puts on her school uniform and gets a cab back to School.

Drop down to visit Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Ormoc. Spend a few days in each place and then you will be able to decide. Also try Dumaguete. It is much like Ormoc: on the sea, clean and not crowded, tons of lovely co-eds. It also has an airport right there. Flights are limited and are mostly to Manila but this will work for you.

    What city?

I currently reside in Bangkok but several of my pals have adamantly recommended that I move to the Philippines instead.

I have to admit, I do favor Filipino women over Thai women.

I've been to Manila and didn't like it. What other parts of the Philippines do you suggest I look at as a place to live? What's important to me?

    1. Reliable and fast internet service. I like to work at coffee shops, bars, restaurants, etc because I get bored working out of my house.

    2. Reasonable airport service since I still travel 8-10 times a year (just around Asia) for business.

    3. Young, sweet, cheap pussy. In general, I'd rather pay for it and get rid of them afterwards.

    Suggestions please! Thanks!
