You have to keep in mind that many people come and go, all the time, so most people aren't interested in dating someone that might leave at any time. There is also a huge imbalance between the number of men and the number of women, so there is a very tiny pool to choose from for men. And amongst this tiny pool is a lot of gold diggers, professionnal hookers, girls that have a full lineup of men. Then the expectations here is much higher. I rememver talking to a girl that is so used for men to pay for everything (and everything expensive) that she wouldn't consider paying for anything and she wouldn't consider anything not luxurious.

Being entitled to a "rest day" didn't necessarily give them the right to step outside on their own, the law was vague and the DWs would have to seek their employer's consent to do so on their day off or it was left to whatever agreement they had with their employer. Some contracts did give them the right to but some didn't. Now its a definite right stated on unified official contracts.
