Long time Bangkok and Santo Domingo visitor here.

Heading to Medellin for my first trip in early June. For first timers, would you recommend Energy or an Airbnb? I do appreciate having other like minded hobbyists around, but La Mansion is booked up while I'm there.

I'm laid back, not a drinker or partier.
    Energy is an Airbnb.

    Hello all,

I have been to Medellin 4-5 times and always stayed at the mansion. Loved the fact that it was safe and there were experienced mongers to hang out with every day. However, increasingly, I feel like I am well connected with girls on Facebook or like to pick them up from Lleras park / Gusto. So, don't really pickup much from Mansion's bar anymore.

I will want to hence stay at Luxury hotels (nice room / good food / jacuzzi in room etc.) in Medellin going forward. High cost of hotel is not a concern. Which hotels are near LLeras park, and are super nice but are chica friendly as well (and don't give me any headaches or asks for fees to bring different girls every day)? I have heard of Marquee hotel, but didn't find anything mentioned in this forum about it if it is girl friendly or not. Please suggest.
Haven on Calle 10 A is a solid 4 star Jacuzzi hotel option. I heard they just started 24 HR room service, and 24 HR room service is rare in Zona Rosa hotels. Haven is a small hotel and rooms are smaller than Click Clack (very good upscale option with very few jacuzzi rooms), but definitely Haven is way more guest friendly at almost half the price for the rooms. Since you are asking for high end, I would say that I one day plan to splurge for one of Haven's penthouses. They are classy. For the most upscale option, Wake is hard to beat, but it is an Airbnb. I like daily cleaning so I prefer hotels. That is a personal choice.

    Jacuzzi Room

I am looking for a girl friendly room with a jacuzzi. I have messaged Wake, Haven, Selis, Epic, and a few AirBnBs. I am hoping to hear more from personal experience. I am down to share my resources.

    Disposal of toilet paper

Not everywhere. I once clogged the toilet of a Mexican friend in Miami. Very embarrassing. If I remember right in Colombia and Peru the stinky disposal bin next to the toilet is compulsory. Why don't they generalise butt sprays like in Asia? Problem would be solved.

    Energy

Does anyone know if in Energy apartments one can flush the toilet paper?

    Here are a few

I would say to call them.

It does not cost that much.

Every public bathroom in the country has the garbage can for disposal of toilet paper, and most have signs saying that all toilet paper must be disposed of in the garbage can. The whole country. So it is not "my thing" or unique to your one Airbnb.

And of course very few in Central or South America would tell you that in person, although there are signs about it in many bathrooms everywhere. And many places assume you would know that, since every child in Colombia would know that. Anyway. Now you know. And it's not that hard to do.

So people like you are why people hate gringos. It's the norm to use the bucket all the way from Mexico down to northern South America. Argentina no, Chile no, Uruguay no. Mexico, all of centro America, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador are all "bucket countries. " If you can't handle that, don't go there.

They train their kids how to use the toilet in all of these countries, but I guess you take that information as an insult or rudeness.

As far as visitors, yes, most of the time the house rules have it in there. Once in a while it is talked about in the description or stuff about safety. But if there are no rules, and they just have the sign up, that is a bit strange. Often there will be something about laws around minors, which is no problem in my opinion. But the "say no to sex tourism" thing is a big push in Colombia, and I've seen those posters in some of the hotels as well.

I was in Laureles just two weeks before and was not greeted with such rudeness. BTW, there was no rules against having guests just a maximum of 2 people staying and no parties.
