Sorry guys, I did RTFF but I am not sure.

1) So it is illegal for a foreigner to share a room with a Vietnamese of the opposite sex without a certificate of engagement or marriage. This law is enforced more at 5-Star-Hotels and less at 3-Star Hotels right?

2) This hotel staff will apply this law only to obvious hookers coming in at night or even if I check in with a well educated Viet cutie while travelling with her? Actually I'm interested in bringing in hookers as well as travelling with a Viet student girl I already know.

3) The following post is confusing for me. If I can solve the problem by paying 10$ extra then it wouldn't be much of a problem for me. Does this policy also apply to luxury hotels?

I think question 1 is a rule of thumb. But I personally have the same quesitons 2 and 3. What will happen if I hook up with a Viet cutie and take her back to my hotel?

Can't find Di Nam Hotel but is over in backpacker / bar area near Ben Thanh market. Rates under $50 so should be GF. Would not get too enthusiastic about the 'nightclub' next door though.

I did mean the Dai Nam! I chose this Hotel as it is well located for all things I will need for a trip. I am only in HCMC for a few days, this time, but will try to post any useful info on the Forum.

I have stayed at Rennaisance and there is a lift to the left when entering the lobby from the front door, far away from the front desk, and no staff hanging around the lift. This lift is also the closest to Hard Rock Cafe and the small arcade attached to the back of the hotel,.

Are you sure it was the Renaissance? I've been to their lobby and I couldn't find a lift to the left nor was the Hard Rock Cafe somehow close to the Renaissance. In your post you are also referring to the Sofitel. Did you mean the Sofitel?

I've recently stayed at the Continental. Not really a modern 4-5 stars hotel but if you are a little into that Graham Greene thing it might be a good choice. Rooms were somehow dated but in a very nice way. Seems much of their interior is from the 1920s. Girls were allowed but only during daytime. I've been there with a non p4p girl so maybe it would be dfferent if someone showed up in high heels and hot pants. A hooker I've spoken to said to me she could enter most 4-5 star hotels before 7pm.

Coming to Saigon in December and have never been there before. Looking for a few ideas on where to stay, close to the bars etc for nightlife and girls, from what I can see it seems to be best to stay near Hai Bai Trung is this the case or is there a better place to head?

Where are the best areas for finding girls, is it the bars or are the discos better.

Not a chance. The rule of thumb is no overnights at 5-star hotels, especially Western chains.

After a recent visit where I stayed at one such hotel that didn't allow girls, I just don't see it as a problem at all - and I'm someone who normally goes for long-time when available. Saigon is a late city so if you're just on holiday and out partying, you likely won't leave the bar until 2 or 3 AM. Then you just go to a S/T hotel (the girls all know where they are, they're clean and safe, and they're not expensive - $20 usually), have your fun, and stumble back to your hotel and sleep comfortably alone. If you didn't get enough of the girl, invite her to come back the next day for an afternoon session (which is fine at all hotels - no problem during the day). The cost is the same for 2 S/T vs. 1 L/T anyway, and in my experience if she likes you at all and you invite her back, you're going to get even better service on the 2nd visit.

Was 4 night in this hotel. Is GF, but if you book singleroom, sometimes you must pay difference between single and double room (5 dollar). 50 m from Apocalypso Now.

Seems to be complicated to find the perfect hotel in Saigon especially having its girlfriendlyness in mind.

What if I can resist the desire for girls for one or two nights and want to have a nice 4-5 stars hotel instead. What would you reccomend then?

I have narrowed down to the ones of Sofitel, Renaissance, Majestic and Nikko. Any other recommendation in that range is appreciated.

Grand Hyatt seems to be excellent but IMHO too expensive. What I'm looking for especially is a comfy bed and an outstanding breakfast buffet (like the ones you get in most of 5 Star Thai hotels).

This lift is also the closest to Hard Rock Cafe and the small arcade attached to the back of the hotel, some good lookers hang about there, but just nice girls practicing their english, but maybe you could invite them to Hard Rock for a drink and check them out. The Sofitel has an entrance downstairs under reception, you can take a lift from there to your room, a friend staying there thought it would be no problem. I would try both out, and go somehwere else if challenged, of course you could always register her and take her off the room next day.

I booked this place for 4 nights in Jan and I am worried they are not GF!

This is a repost of my response in the main HCMC thread.

Any hotel under $50 is probably GF but you will not get pools and gyms etc for that money.

This hotel used to be the Kim Long one of several owned by the Tran sisters (one ugly and one gorgeous) and it certainly used to be GF. You might need to befriend the male night receptionist. There are three rooms per floor and the center one has no windows, the back ones are not much better but the front rooms are not bad with a balcony.

Somerset's two locations used to be GF but tightened up so overnight won't work anymore. But they have no problems with daytime visitors. As many as you want, LOL!

Thanks for your feedback! I'm aware that it's almost impossible in a 4-5 stars hotel. Maybe I wasn't precise enough in my post. At least you gave me a glimpse of hope that it might be possible when checking in with the girl together. Might be an option if I travel with a VN "online gf".

Just in case I might want to spend one or two nights alone: which of the 4-5 stars hotels would you recommend for a touch of luxury?
