    Hourly hotels, general question

I have a question about the hourly hotels, as they are everywhere in my neighborhood. Obviously you can bring girls to them, but someone told me if you show up without one, they will supply one, like they have them on call or something. Any truth to this, and if so, what has been your experiences? Do they have pictures of the girls, or is it a crapshoot?

Well, not really looking for girls 24/7 but it's nice to have a beer in a happening place in a walking distance at night.

So was looking for a 2/3 star GFE hotel (30 range) with a reliable Internet connection (cable or WiFi) for work. Looked at the Eden Garden and Mifuki from above recommendation which are nice, any feedback on their internet connection and location is appreciated, any other hotel candidates that fits that I should check. !?

Also is it easy to just pick up a SIM card for a daily / weekly 3 G data as a backup like in Thailand!? Which company is the better. (I don't really need a very fast speed, just reliable.).
All the hotels mentioned have fairly reliable wifi. I did not have any problem except one time with Mifuki due to some maintenance / remodeling activities.

I bought a SIM card with Mobi for 200 k VND, you get to pick your own number from a list, and that comes with 50 k credit for calls. I then ask the guy to add another 200 k VND to my account. With the credit, I subcribed for a data package 70 k VND for 600 MB of 3 G data. I find that usually last for the 2-3 weeks in typical short trip to VN. Total cost 400 k VND (about $18 USD).

    Hope that helps.

The other was a Saigon girl, small A boobs with big butt, beautiful and assertive. She got turned on by my erection and told me to lay back and let her **** me. She did have her lusty ways with me. Hehe.

I gave their phone numbers and locations to a few bros. Hopefully they can add info about those girls.

Chinese girls are much sweeter and nicer, not to mention more beautiful. I would much rather spend my time with Chinese girls, even though I cannot speak Putonghoa.
Agree with your assessment of District 1 girls. That's why I left D1 several years ago and has not been with a girl in D1 for a long time. Also agree that you get better chances in D10, one of my favorites, as are Tan Binh, Phu Nhuan, and D8. Hanoi girls are also high on my list.

When in the UAE I also prefer Chinese girls, have mostly positive experience with PRC in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. But the Viet girls there are also good and moving up quickly, in terms of performance and satisfaction.

    Cheers,

Most 2-3 stars by Ben Thanh market are also GF, I stayed at Xavier, Mifurki, Saigon Bloom.

For all of the above mentioned hotels, the girl must show ID, but other than that, no problem.

Have a nice stay in VN.

10 PM cut off time means no guests after that time.

Thinking of trying Liberty Central this time. I've emailed them for clarity on their policy, but from another web site it says.

"Unregistered guest allowed and no extra charge at our Liberty Hotels. Just please mention it at our front desk during your check-in and booking. Thanks & Best regards, NGUYỄand THỊ THANH THẢO, Kate (Ms.) Corporate Sales Manager (SM) ".

    The lawless jungle

In the US, if you hold someone's passport, that's a felony.

In Vietnam it's the jungle with no law, or laws that are ignored. Most traffic infractions are just bribes for the police. Police will not investigate or prosecute any crimes unless they are paid off. People are so rude and uncivil to one another they [CodeWord140] me off.

I saw a few fist fights in traffic that I had to carry a protection device while riding around on the rental motorbike. I will protect myself if assaulted.

Hope you had some good times in that hotel.

I gave them a full page copy. I don't see any reason for them to 'hold' my passport. My room was already paid for through agoda. If they wanted to verify anything, they can easily compare my passport with the copy.

When I checked out, the young lady even gave me the copy back. LOL.

There are two reasons for this, both are based on the backwardness of the communist-controlled economy in the past: 1) People cannot move / travel around without paper ID, and 2) You could Not buy sh*t without your ID (I. E. , you buy food and everything by ration-stamps along with your ID and money). Of course, money in those days has no link to any hard currencies in the free world, and credit card was almost unknown. The government-issued ID had some real purchase power back then (being tied to food / goods ration). The rules have now been changed (no more ration) and credit card is slowly making inroad. However, old habits die hard, and most lower level hotels (2/3 star and below) still believe in using ID as a form of deposit. Since it is not credit card, the only way to make sure you pay the bill is actually hold the physical ID card (you will get it back as a refund after all bills are paid). Many owners of 2-star and lower hotels still don't trust credit cards. They only believe what they can hold in their hands, that means cash or your ID. They have no idea that holding someone passport is against the law (even their police don't know that). Slowly they are learning, hence some are now willing to take copies of passport instead of confiscating it. The value of this lesson is that next time someone wants to keep your passport, just say NO, and ask them to make a copy. Some will give fake reasons such as they must report to local police with your passport, that is complete BS and the police, if they want (no legal reason, but they do, whatever, being local lords), they will take copies, not originals.

Still, overlook the minor inconvenience, there are still a lot to enjoy Vietnam, just do.

    Hotel holding passport

I had other countries to go after Vietnam. I asked them what if they lose our passports, I would lose my trip waiting for replacement. They said they never lose passports. Some stupid assholes at the hotels could potentially used the Asian passports, impersonating the visitors, and cause a lot of problems. What an ass backward way of doing business.

In HCMC and Hanoi, the big hotels asked to see the passport and took down info but did not hold it.

As far as a 4 star hotel I'm currently staying in the Liberty hotel Saigon Parkview in District 1 which is a great location in the middle of the park with the backpacker area directly behind it. No problem bringing girls in with no joiner fees up until 10 PM at night when they charge $ 15 USD for a 'third person fee" when the guest is spending the night. Right in front of the Hotel starting about 10 PM at night there are girls available along with a few women "pimps" that will bring women to choose from for $ 40 USD which I don't know if it included a room but was for short time.
That's what I would call an awesome trip report. If folks wrote reports like yours, there would be no need for anyone to yell RTFF to newbies. I have not mongered in Vietnam yet, but would like to one day. Viet chicks are slowly becoming among my favs. I would like to see more reports like yours, straight to the point. A big THANKS to you buddy.

    Government vice monitors

Vietnam employs thousands of officials to monitor the internet. I am pretty sure the latest trends and developments in vices are noted by the right authorities. The vice apparatus usually targets pimps and sex tour operators who cater to foreigners and make Vietnam look bad and lose face.

There was a Chinese Singaporean who operated a sex tour widely advertised on various monger sites. He was prosecuted and never found to return to Vietnam. The Chinese and Korean KTVs are far more discreet but they still get busted eventually. A guy who pimps models to foreigners for $500-$1000 a night was busted recently. The cops even had someone with camera filming the girl and the foreigner in bed and subsequent interrogations. The girl ratted on the pimp who was quickly hauled in. Someone posted the clips on Youtube.

Even bars and barbershops that cater to foreigners on HBT are eventually busted. The call girls web sites are shut down frequently. They have to change names and move their servers around.
