I went to APO and it is pretty close to what it was a couple years ago. There are a few decent lookers and and quite a few not so decent looking, but the big difference now is that they are asking 3 million instead of 2 million. None of the ones I talked to were worth half of that. Most of the action seems to be in the Pham Ngu Lao area. There are a couple bars on Bui Vien across from Crazy Girl bar (where there is no barfine but girls with average / below average looks) around 57 or 59 and the cross street Do Quang Dau. Despite the slim pickings, I was able to find a couple diamonds in the rough. There is a small bar called Kimis on Bui Vien that has about 6-8 girls working. A few were above average. This is where I found one of the diamonds. She was a solid 8 and had a fun and playful attitude (a rare combination here) and quoted 2 million for all night and 1. 5 for short-time (I was able to talk her down a little from the short time price). Lady drinks are 90 k and they drink them fast. I met her the first night I arrived and went back a few times looking for her but never saw her again. If you go there looking for her, I would advise going early. I wish I took her all night and got her number but I was jet lagged and didn't have a SIM card yet. I met the other (a very cute 20 year-old freelancer) at Go 2 Bar a couple days later who didn't want to be paid. That should have been a warning. She gave me the girlfriend experience, and while it would have been cheaper to just pay for sex, I have no regrets. I took her on a cruise of Ha Long Bay and spent a lot of time (and money) with her throughout the month I was there, and she is still text me and wanting to know when we are getting married!

I never got that far. I would only ask that if I was with a girl I was interested in. That did not seem possible in ANY of these bars. Seriously, D.ones on Bui Vien and Do Quang Do are much cuter and younger than these. I don't see how these places can possibly bounce back again.

In the spot where 49 Bar was before, there is now a new "lady bar" called Lounge The High. Strange name, I know. Inside, the place looks fresh and classier than most of the old HBT bars were, but the girls sure did not. Definitely the older and less attractive type at this place, some faces that seemed familiar from bars from days gone by. Also the young bartender was previously the bartender at 91, and I think at Thien Loc before that. And she's not "available". The place looks very new, and so there's hope yet, if they get some new girls in.

Across the street and down an alley was another brand new bar called "Ly Ly", and it's similar to Lounge the High where it's brand new and with some older veteran girls working there. They told me they would be getting new girls in next week.

I looked in at a few other places, including Thien Loc, 29 Dong Khoi and Smile Bar, and none of them looked like they had any young attractive ones. Sometimes when bars close, girls shift to the new ones and you can see nice ones in some formerly bad bars. Not this time. All bad, so far.

Back in 2012, I visited a bar called Lodge Bui down towards the end of 39/2 Pham Ngoc Thach. Would anyone know if this place is still open and if the girls hanging out there are just regular girls or freelancers?

It seemed like a decent place to hang out. Live band and pool table upstairs. Saw a few bargirls hanging out back then, but never had a chance to chat them up (was with my Ex at the time).

Bui bar closed about 6 months ago. These girls where neither just hanging out nor freelancers. They were "hostesses". You can get friendly with them by going to the bar a few times, tip them, and get their number to see them after work. But that whole process has always looked pointless to me. You either make an effort and get a free girl, or pay and get a WG, but making an effort to chase a girl who's job it is to sit on your lap for tips. ? Pointless.

They did always have a nice Pilipino band, not sure where they went.
