I was driving around in the area where so many of the girl bars, the ones we used to call HBT bars back when there was more than one on that street (I think there were 6 or 7 once).

Down at the start of LE Thanh Ton street there was one bar there that was around for a very long time, since probably 2005 or so, called Bin Bin. Recently it had changed its name to something like Moon Night. It was usually one of the best of these kinds of bars, with only 91 HBT being better, at least in terms of your chances of finding hot young girls. Anyway, this place looks like it's closed. Sometimes they get shut down for a while and reopen, so maybe that will happen this time. But the way things have gone the last year or 2, my guess is that it's a goner.

It seems like these bars have lost all their mojo the last few years, with all the police closings. Now the wechat and zalo girls seem to be the #1 way people connect with girls of this type, and that's kind of a pity because that's a purely wham-bam-thankyou-maam type experience, and there's no warm-up time with the girl, which is a huge part of the thrill for some of us. What's more, with the app girls, the pictures you see don't even look much like the girl you meet, so it's just a crap deal for the consumer. And from what I hear, the prices are the same or more than what the girls in the bars were going for.

Bin Bin / Moon Night was the last of these bars where you could go in and have a good chance of connecting with a young hot girl. Maybe those days are over.

I've checked out those other bars. They're mostly small and with mostly ones who really should be retired by now (too old) or else shouldn't be in this line of work (not cute enough). If there's a cute one, it's a surprise. That's no good, you can't go hit all these bars in a night in the unlikely hope you'll run into one hot one eventually in the 3rd or 4th bar you go to.

I haven't been inside these kinds of bars in months, so if anyone has good current info, it'd be good to hear. Maybe there's some bar I don't know about that's blossomed with hot young things recently due to the demise of 91 and Bin Bin.

I am a Vietnamese american and visit Vietnam once a year to visit some family, but some days I sneak out and try to have some fun.

Some of the most fun I have is going to the Karaoke bars where I I can call girls to come sit with me.

Before I would normally ask the taxi guys if they knew of any hot spots with cute girls and usually at least one or two knew.

I've had a few encounters with FLs at Lush. A couple years ago I went a little overboard with bottles. Long story short, I made friends with a bouncer to watch my back, and in exchange allowed him to drink freely from my table. I met a local girl but couldn't quite seal the deal. So I asked the bouncer to bring girls to the table to make her jealous but they were all FLs. Mostly 6's who kept coming back every 15 minutes. Very annoying. Last month, I saw a few FL's by the upstairs ledge. They tend to fly solo. They'll wait til around 1:00 am (when the crowd is drunk) and constantly stare at you.

Agreed. Apoc Now is absolutely horrible. I've heard people say some locals go there but it's 99.9% FLs. Several years ago, it was a great place to start the night. FL's would come through at 11 pm on the dot. By 11:45, I could find at least 3 girls I'd want to bang. I'd use them to warm up my game before hitting the clubs. And if my game was off night after night, I knew I could always go back to Apo as a worst case scenario. Now, you'll be lucky to find a 6 in the crowd.

On my last two trips, I planned to check out Chill Sky Bar but never made it. I've heard a lot of models hang out there. I'm sure plenty of FLs go there too but at least they're better looking than the typical bar scene. Any thoughts?

Like I said earlier, I spent most of my trip hanging out with the two Viet girls I met in Singapore and Shanghai. Only had one night alone, which I wasted by going to Apocalypse (I was pretty tired anyway form shagging my babes and really just wanted to take a look at what it was like).

We never made it to Chill Skybar. The one night we wanted to go it was raining pretty hard and It didn't make much sense to check go if there was no view to be enjoyed.

All in all I really like VN. Food, people and the communist / colonial ambiance are amazing. But I didn't' really get a chance to check out the scene as my girls kept me happily busy.

The problem in Apo is the price they ask nowadays, IMO you can always find a real hottie in the crowd, but when they ask 200, 300usd or more, and they still think they are doing you a favor, it makes me crazy! The best deal around in Apo these days would be 100usd for 1 shot. 2 shots for this price would be fair if the girl has good attitude and service, but almost impossible to negotiate with most of them.

About Chill bar, absolutely not interesting, very Hi class and show off place, yes for sure you will see "models" kind of girls but they will be with rich locals already or you will have to show you are rich spending an insane amount of money for bottles etc. I think it doesn't worth it but if that's your thing and you can afford it then you can give it a try. Air 360 is a better option for sky bar with a nicer atmosphere, more reasonable prices and still nice girls around.

5/12 is correct. They promoted the event as the "final ladies night" before renovations. I checked out the pics and it seemed to be a crazy night. Wish I was there!

Damn man, if this was last week (5-12) you definitely missed a good ladies night at Lush. I was there with my friend and her 2 hot GFs. And there were wall to wall lookers. Including some girls that may have been FLs (I was with my girl so could not check).

I got the same vibe from Vincom, but I could not follow up as I was with my girl (again).

I had an awesome time with her and no regrets. But I'll definitely have to schedule some ME time next time I am in VN.

I woke up early the next morning and went to minh tam 2 for a massage. I won't go much into detail as I plan on writing a separate review on the massage thread. Smiley bar is near Apo, one block over going opposite direction from Hai Ba Trung. There's one on Thi Sach just near LE Thanh Ton. There's one on corner of Hai Ba Trung and Mac Thi Buoi street. Another at 29 Dong Khoi. They're all stocked with working girls, available for immediate takeout. And in the backpacker area, a short taxi ride away, thre are grungier versions of these bars, particularly in the area where Bui Vien and Do Quang Do street meet.

I just got back from my annual trip to HCMC. Here's a quick review:

My first night, I went straight from the airport to my hotel (in District 7). As always, my first stop was Bar 29 and I arrived well past midnight. I know the mamasan well and she showed me her latest "talents". Girls were friendly (and touchy) but no one in particular caught my eye so I decided to walk around the neighborhood. Outside Velvet club, I saw two hotties and exchanged a few words, but they quickly hopped on a motorbike and took off. From there, I took a cab to Go2 Bar around 2:00 am. It felt adventurous and was by far the best pork & rice plate I've ever hard. Definitely better than any halal cart in NYC.

It was a quick 3 hour nap and then back to work. I began to feel like my last night in HCMC would be a total waste. I got drunk during dinner with co-workers and by the time I headed back to my hotel for a shower, I had suddenly fallen asleep. I woke up at 2:00 am and dragged myself out of bed. While brushing my teeth, I had to listen to 50 cent to help get in the mood. There was nowhere to go but Go2 Bar so I grabbed a beer from the mini fridge and hopped into a cab. The bar was packed and the crowd was alive. I met a girl named Vi and we danced and made out on the dance floor. I wasn't 100% sure if she was a working girl. But then I met her friends and I was sure LOL. Long story short, we went back to my hotel and snuck past the sleeping attendant at the front desk. There was no mention of money until she was getting dressed to leave. She asked for 2 M but all I had was 80 USD (which was still way too much). It was my last few hours in HCMC and I was drunk, so I agreed to give her the 80 in exchange for another BJ.

Saigon. New ventures, new mongering market for me. My new employer has put me in a very basic, but clean and excellently located hotel in Thi Sach St, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 - 50 m from Apocalypse Now.

First evening, after stumbling out of Etihad Business class, managed to shower, clean teeth and feel frisky. Turn left out of the hotel and there's this dull looking entrance to what appears to be a bar with lots of noise coming out of it and a few women outside. Hmmm. Luckily, a doorman recognised my plight and invited me in. Free of charge. Ah hell, why not? Inside, 21:00 hrs or so, it is a little quite but food would be served upstairs in 'UpStation' ok.

Cut a long story short, the place started to buzz 22:00 hrs onwards with a variety of terribly nice (yuk!) expat hippocrocopigs, many young Ruperts and Rodneys and a smattering of VN girls. The VN girls drifted in more and more, however, the quality, generally, was nothing to get too excited about. (I lived in Sukhumvit for 6 years). Nonetheless, as in every pick up joint, there were a few diamonds in the rough. Some of these diamonds were just plain stupid and / or greedy.
