I found a girl's profile on ThienDia which has the rate mentioned as 500 k / shot. I contacted her and asked her how much would she charge for 4 hours. She said 3000 k and I can have 4 shots. I told her it doesn't make sense. Your pricing says 500 k / shot with that logic I should be paying only 2000 k. Now she tried to explain herself but of course this was in Vietnamese so I'm not sure what she meant. I don't speak Vietnamese and I don't know the Vietnam scene so a bit confused. I'd really appreciate if someone can explain how these rates on ThienDia work. The rates there are always mentioned as price / shot.

Unfortunately, my three regulars were all out of town, so I had to searching for new partners. This time I was alone, since all my foreign business colleagues were women. Went to Apo and was pleasantly surprised to see a relatively hopping place at 10:30 on a Tuesday, probably because of the band. All the parties and groups in the front, all the working girls in the back and the guys lounging around in-between. I set up shop along the bar, got the buy 2 get 2 beer special and drank, listened to music and looked around. Of course, the prettiest girl there was already with a guy. I'm sure there's some action to be had, but quality didn't look great. Going back to the hotel, I noticed a high end bar / karaoke place called Catwalk. Looked it up and it seemed like a hostess bar. Went in, got a beer at the bar, and saw some nice girls in sexy dress and heels hanging out with some older men. Eventually more girls came in and sat down. Eventually the mamasan noticed me and came over. She showed me 2 girls, both of which were pretty good, I picked the prettiest of the two. The deal is she sits with you at the bar and you pay her 1 m VND and give another 500 k to the mamasan. That might seem like a lot, but I quite like it as it gives you some time to get to know her and make your mind about whether or not to take it further. Also, most of the girls in there are well dressed and of decent to great quality. There are some real lookers amongst them.

Eventually she said she'd call me at the end of her shift (ended at 12:30 local time). I found out later her period was just starting, she actively reached out and was very apologetic, especially when she couldn't meet me the next day as she was out of sorts.

Tried again next day, picked a girl not quite as pretty, but tall and with a nice rack. Again, talked an hour or two, she was a bit more pro-active, would kiss me and asked if I wanted her to come to my hotel. Cost was 5 m VND for short time or 7 m for long. Short time is usually from 300 k-1 m depending on the girl's looks and services.

Take a look at Ruby Bar on Pasteur st. The lower end towards the river. Also some other great bars on the same side of the street. Had much better luck here than Bui Vien st. Or De Tham. Much better vibe with no hassles.

I want to go to Vietnam in February. Which city is the best to monger for stunners? I guess Ho Chi Minh; or is it another city? Not sure how the Nang and Hanoi compare to Ho Chi Minh.

I was in HCMC and I noticed there are quite many hot girls, but you have to be careful not to be scammed. I've never been to Hanoi or the Nang, so I can't compare!

Anyone ever have trouble just walking a girl in and bypassing reception? At the Sheraton, the elevators are really far from the reception desk.

Won't happen, not at night anyway. There are security guys in the lobby all night, standing at the front doors. Now during the day you can do it if you're smart. Don't go to the elevators; instead go up the escalator like you're going to the restaurant, then get the elevators on the 2nd floor up to your room. Even in the day you'll probably be stopped if you go to the main elevators. Not the end of the world if the girl has her ID, they'll just ask her to check in at reception. But that doesn't work at night; after around 9 PM they won't let her up period unless she's on the booking.
