I read today in the Bangkok Post that Japanese tourists have declined 95% from a couple of years ago. That's remarkable. Since they are well known for certain haunts such as Rainbow and other venues in NEP, this must be having a drastic decline in income for the staff at these places. Also, I wonder what Thermae is like? When I was last in Bangkok in March 2020, it was not worth going to Thermae since I got the brush off so frequently. They have a reputation there of only catering to the Japanese crowd.

Speaking of the 90 Days Residence Report, the physical location for that in Bangkok has returned to the big Immigration Office in Chaengwattana. I was there to submit mine in person about a week ago, I showed up during their 12 noon to 1 PM lunch break and when it reopened after lunch there was practically no queue line at all. Maybe 20 people sitting in chairs ahead of me. I was in and out within 20 minutes.

I used to do it by mail, which was very easy and the only cost was for a stamp on the envelope and another one on a self-addressed envelope inside that one for the receipt to be mailed back to me. Then, during the Covid closures, my receipt got "lost in the mail" and it cost me 2000 baht in penalty fees to submit my next report form without that receipt. At that time the lady behind the counter said, "Oh yeah, a lot of people are not getting their receipt in the mail now."

There was an app to do it online but it never worked for me and many others. The line to submit it in person around that time was longer than before the app.

Now I think the app is gone but it appears we can submit it online through a Thai Immigration website. Maybe doing by mail is on again too. That might account for why there were so few people there to submit it in person a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know if this online method will work for me next time, about 80 days from now. But at least I was able to register for it in advance here, unlike that lame app before:

It gets worse than that. Online, often you're the one being filtered out, and being a Farang is working against you. I had a few ok experiences, but online scene is just not my thing. For me, taking a long stroll among a bunch of eager hookers and picking one is 60% of the fun, often better than the session itself.

If I'm going to do all the legwork, might as well go for a civilian and squeeze several sessions for "free" out of that while pretending to have a normal relationship. I realize that's not an option after a certain age, but it still in the age bracket where it works, albeit just barely.

If the oilies were still the way they were in the late 00's and early 10's, I certainly wouldn't be messing with the online scene. But unfortunately, they are not. Chasing civilian chicks just isn't possible for me.
Yes there are some that aren't okay with Western dudes, but the same was true in Thermae and in many Go-Go's.

I am a bit surprised by your mentioning of some success with online girls. You did mention taking time to research but that is something that is quite difficult and dangerous for most punters when they are still in the home town. Think wife LOL.

I love the option to inspect goods personally and have a little discussion to gauge language skills and willingness to go the extra mile. Not sure how one can achieve this level if filtration while dealing with girls and their photoshopped pictures.

In order to really get better reviews and better pictures you have to join the telegram groups where the local lads post reviews of the gals.

Still say I'm finding some of the prettiest girls I've ever had and with a lot of time-consuming research some real performers to boot. I am sure you are finding some very attractive girls on these Thai language sites. But you said it yourself, it takes "a lot of time-consuming research" to find the real performers.

Pre-covid, I never used internet sites to find girls preferring to meet them in brick-and-mortar establishments and test drive them before making any decisions. I always enjoyed my nights out and about. But in April 2021, a dark time in recent history, I flew into Rio De Janeiro during a code red lockdown. All the termas (bordellos) and Prive's (oily massage parlors) were closed so I had no alternative other than going on the internet. And guess what? I found some beautiful and amazing girls online and they gave me some of the best sex I have had in the last 10 years! But here is the catch: it was very time consuming to find the right girl or girls online. I would usually start my search around 4 pm and with some degree of luck and tenacity, I would have a hottie knocking on my door by 8 pm.

On my 2nd trip to SP & RJ in October 2021, the Boates in SP and the Termas were open. As a result, I hooked up with a few of my favorite internet girls from the previous trip, and that was great, but very happily I began hunting for sexy girls in the bordellos and never looked back. I am currently on my 5th week in SP on my 3rd visit. My 2 favorite internet girls are on working road trips in Spain, so I missed seeing them. I think it has always been true that most of the girls working in the Thai go-go bars are not pretty. And it was true in my eyes as well in Billboard last Saturday night as in every bar I looked into that night and every night.

But IMO there was the same usual small percentage of girls who stood out as barfine-worthy (based on looks) as there would have been on any Saturday night in 2017, 2018 or 2019.

I would concede that many customers today are likely to accept less due to 2 years of denial. But my experience, observation and shared testimonials from long time punters suggest that is more about accepting less in terms of service than in looks.

That "shell of its former self" comment might be the most glowing review of any Nana Plaza go-go bar lineup I have read from you, Goatscrot. And by "former" that can only mean as far back as it existed under that name.

So maybe enough time has passed to be certain most of the better girls are no longer working there, as you already suggest in this discussion, to make it possible for those of us who were here at the time to reminisce over the good old days back in 2017 and 2018 and 2019, how much better it was back then, how lucky we were to have been in on it and how sad it is for all you unlucky souls out there who missed it.

In pre-covid times travelling to Thailand during rainy season was never a problem. I actually enjoyed it. Sure, it rains, sometimes there are torrential downpours, and city streets in BKK & Pattaya overflow with water ankle deep, but the sun comes out too plenty, sometimes for weeks on end. Just bring a good umbrella and some sense of humor. You will be fine. I would rather be in Thailand during the rainy season than during high season. I won't go to Thailand between December and February. Too many people.

I recommend a Google search on "Seasonal Weather Bangkok". It will quickly display typical high and low temperatures as well as the number of days per month with rain. If you are thinking of traveling about Thailand, substitute your expected destination in place of Bangkok.
