I wasn't here 10 years ago because I had taken about a 20 year hiatus from traveling to Asia up until about 8 years ago. But I can believe everything you and others have said about those times. The change for the worse must have also come about due to a much improved Thai and other Asian economies compared to the prior 15 years or so, which also enabled the greater influx of non Western punters in the most often mentioned tourist areas.

Maybe we will see a return to that dynamic once the reality of today's economic conditions really sets in and shakes out all vestiges of the mindset that was able to thrive over the past 10 years or so.

I saw a lot of new young faces in the couple of go-go bars I have visted so far since they reopened. But I have not yet had the free time to check out the attitudes in the privacy of my apartment. Hopefully, soon.

But in terms of the level of looks in the newly reopened go-go bars, I would say those new young faces and bodies fall into the usual tiered breakdown; 10% snooty, aloof lookers, top tier for the particular venue, 20% second tier aspiring to take business away from the top and more willing to do whatever it takes to do so (my favorite tier for that reason), 20% acceptably fuckable if you are willing to forgive more apparent to all flaws and the rest falling much more predictably in the "needs to accept even 1,000 for no discussion BBFS+CIP" tier category.

One point I would add is to not believe anything is certain until it's been posted in the Royal Gazette. There have been many cases over the past few months where changes have been announced by a government official, from the cabinet or CCSA only for it not to be approved. Recommendations and decisions have been made public only to be reversed at the last minute. Complicating that is that provincial governors have the ability to add greater restrictions than set for the nation.

We should not underestimate the pressure that will come from a situation where other countries are opening up to tourists. The uniforms may feel, they have absolute discretion to control but with the economy tanking and millions out of work it's more than possible that this overly cautious approach will be relaxed quicker than we currently anticipate.
