OK, this is a long shot but here I go.

A year or so ago I was browsing You Tube on Bangkok and some dude was referring to an area in Bangkok known as Bangkok's second RLD. I for the life of me can't remember the name of the area he was referring to, and the video has since been deleted. A Google search didn't reveal much at all.

Can any BKK expert out there take a guess to which area he might have been referring to? Thanks.

Bangkok has roughly three "RLDs" if you can call them that. Soi Cowboy, the most famous one and Nana Plaza, are the most popular, Soi Cowboy was the old school one, but for many, Nana plaza overtook it, and post-covid, Soi Cowboy is much more shut down than Nana. Many people prefer Nana. The other one would be Patpong, but that much less visited and out of the way, and often little reason to bother making the trip when you can do the same or better at Nana.

Arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport last weekend on a flight from Manila, and before I went through Immigration, I was asked to provide my proof of vaccination record and my passport. They were only checking the name on the vax record to see if it matched the name on the passport, there was no validation check on the authenticity of the vax record, each inspection lasted no more than about 10 seconds. I don't actually have a genuine vax record so I was lucky that they didn't try and validate it, but my guess is with the numbers now coming through the airport they won't have the resources to validate every single vax record. You only need to provide proof of a negative test if you are unable to show your vax record.

Apart from the brief check mentioned above, there are no other restrictions for foreign tourists arriving in the country, all the other restrictions and requirements ie compulsory health insurance, the Travel Pass etc that were in place, were dropped on July 1.

I recently checked the Thai embassy's site in my country and it appears that they don't require a vax certification anymore prior to giving a visa. They want either double vaxxed people (with proof) or a negative test (PCR or Antigen) 72 hours prior departure. And as you said, every other requirements have been dropped (and no quarantine also).

Tilac bar looked very busy from the outside, almost all tables at the outside patio area were occupied with customers and had a few girls floating around, but inside there were only 3 girls up on the stage and about the same number of customers. It always used to be a very popular bar with dozens of dancers, and was always busy with a lot of customers.

That place was already dead long before the covid shitshow.

Last Saturday night I went to Patpong, the night market is no longer operating though there were still a few stalls open on Silom Road but very few people about. The majority of the gogo bars in Patpong were closed. Most of the area was in darkness and there were hardly any visitors about. I would be surprised it it ever recovers. The main Kings Castle bar (King 1) was open and had an acceptable number of girls up on the stage, but the numbers were way down on pre 2019 when the bar was always bursting with girls. On my visit last Saturday I'd say there were only about a fifth of the number. I thought the quality of girls was below average, IMO prior to 2019 the quality was always above average and the bar was always popular with the Japanese and other Asians, as well as with Westerners. There were few customers in the other bars.

One of my favourite bars at Nana Plaza was Billboard on the top floor, it was then a very popular bar always crammed full of girls, many of which I thought were very pretty, and you could always see quite a few really smoking-hot girls in the bar. I went in there last Sunday and was shocked at the extremely poor quality of the girls and the numbers were about half of what they were back in 2019.

I went to Kings Castle last weekend too. I think it was raining from memory and the customers were non existant. There were a couple of cute girls but nothing special. I always thought Kings Castle 1 had the hottest girls pre covid. But it is definitely an asian club and this white boy alwats felt a little unwelcome there.

I agree on your thoughts in regards to BillBoard. Precovid it was great. You could arrive at opening time (8 pm or 9 pm, cannot remember) and pick off a stunner amongst the 100+ girls. I have been in BKK since the pandemic started and have not seen any stunners in Billboard in 2 years. There are a few maybes but no stunners there. I hope they get their recruiting eye in again, as the quality is very thin right now.

None comes close to the quality of Rainbow 5 talent.

I went into Crazy House bar, it always used to be stuffed full of mostly pretty girls as well as some really smoking-hot girls, but on my visit on Monday the number of girls was about less than half of normal, and the quality was a bit on the rough side. It always used to be stuffed full of customers as well, though on Monday night the bar was quite busy with customers rather than being stuffed full of them. The upstairs area was closed.

Baccara bar used to have a system whereby you had to pay for a drink BEFORE entry into the bar, but they have done away with that and you now enter the bar, find a seat then order a drink. Girl numbers were way down, and there were not too many customers.

I realize it can be different for an expat residing in Bangkok like me compared to someone here for only two weeks. But, same as you, I am having no problem finding available girls at good prices right now. I would go even further to say I am getting some of the youngest and cutest girls I have had in a while. And I certainly haven't gotten any younger over the years. LOL.

Now, I apparently missed the Golden Age of Thai Mongering that reportedly occurred 10-20 years ago because I was not mongering here during that time. But these past 10 years here, including during the closures and now during the struggling recovery, were damn well better for me than when I was vacationing in Thailand a few times per year in the early / mid 1990's.

One thing I have noticed about the admittedly changed demographics where Thais began to have fewer kids over the decades is it is a lot harder for 2 adult children to support mom, dad, grandma, spinster aunt and drunk uncle than for 5 adult children to do it. Not even if they are better educated and get a better job with higher wages today.

Therefore, you might not find as many desirable girls choosing a 7 night a week career as a gogo dancer but the number of mall workers, shop girls, office workers and university students interested and available for a bit of extra family support income for a discrete BBFS+CIP or BBBJ+CIM every few days seems to be growing. Hence, the online option.

Having just done a few visits to Hua Hin, and a stocktake of my own backyard around Rawai whcih showed lots of new talent recently arrived.

I am still of the opinion that a lot of country girl talent (both Isaan and Northern) skip Bangkok and follow family or friends connections to smaller places and bars.

There's no longer an ample supply of working girls in Thailand. Demographics have shifted massively and permanently. Fertility rate has been under 2 children per woman since 1992 (affecting the number of women under 30 now in 2022), compared to the 5+ in the early 1970's (women under 30 back in 2000's). Incomes have also risen significantly, to the point where a typical salary, even on the low end, is sufficient to live on without freelancing part-time.

The difference is stark, but the industry started off huge, there was plenty of inertia, and many punters were refusing to see the changes. For almost a decade, we've seen attrition with very few new faces, but many of the older providers hanging on. This was apparent everywhere, but most obvious in oilies like Tulip.

This situation was dire well before Covid, and the pandemic won't make it better. I just don't see where the large supply of girls would come from. Perhaps the economic crisis brewing in Laos (nearing a breakdown) would send a few working girls over the border, but that won't last long and is unlikely to have large effects down in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, there's no shortage of punters, so with the full reopening, it's only natural to expect prices to go up, and quality way down. At one point, I guess they'll stop coming.

Plenty of places were mongering meccas for a while, but withered due to various factors, usually demographics and increasing wealth of the locals, coupled with some significant event. I hear 1988 Olympic Games killed mongering for foreigners in Seoul and SARS in 2003 killed foreigner bars in Hong Kong. Thailand is here now, unfavorable background trends plus a major event. Now, mongering will never disappear (it still exists in both Seoul in HK), but it might change to be smaller and mostly for locals, no longer worthwhile for most visitors, especially long-distance ones.

This is such a great post. I would add that technology and new wealth in Asia is also changing the scene.

Even 20 years ago white farangs were basically the only game in town. Now there are Korea, Japanese, Chinese and even Indians flexing their economic muscle. I know of lots of girls that will only see asian guys, preferably Korean, Japanese or Chinese.

Adding to this the internet has opened up a whole other world. They join "how to date a farang" facebook groups, have been given the tour of the local village by mum pointing out all the houses that have been built by farang money in 1 way or another. When they hit 18 they are already well versed in all the little deceitful tricks that we all find so annoying.

In my view, Thailand is overrated, and after experiencing Colombia, it is definitely a much better option for me, not to mention it is much closer to the US.

I've always loved Asian women. The big but thing never really attracted me much. And if there skin (I. E. Inside there thighs) isn't nice and smooth, ek.

Seeing a lovely little thing up on stage in Nana Plaza, where the strings on her bikini bottom pulled tight, that gap between her hip bones and stomach, where the string's not against her. And it's not a rarity there.

And I'm old enough that, when I first started visiting Thailand, Escobar was still bombing the shit out of everything. FARC (FARK?) and whoever else was kidnapping whoever. I know it's much more sorted now, but is still nowhere near the safety of Thailand.

If it was just cheap prices, there's Venezuela and Bangladesh.

Yes, 600 was the going rate (before covid) A bit dirty and seedy, but, then again, so am I. There always seems to be at least one "prego" SW there when I roam around.

I have been coming to Thailand about once a year since 2003. I have also been mongering in Colombia since 2013, taking about 3 trips per year.

I personally prefer Thailand over Colombia. The sessions are less transactional, very few people speak English in Colombia, and one has to always be on alert for safety reasons. Plus no comparison about the food. Thai cuisine is far superior. I speak decent Spanish.

However, I just came back from a trip to Thailand. The trip was brutal, 17 hours from SFO to Singapore, plus another 2 hours to get to Bangkok.

So, if he accounts for say 2. 5 hours of travel time, and 1. 5 hours for security, he would still have 2 hours. homewer, that assumes that he properly calculated the layover time (meaning that 23:00 is when boarding starts.) If the plane leaves at 23:00, then boarding time could be 30 minutes to an hour before that.

He said that he is looking for something to help make his next flight more relaxing. Leaving the airport to travel 2. 5 hours by train to get laid, I would say, would be the "riskiest" sex one could have. I could not even enjoy the sex being so worried that I was about to miss my connecting flight. It is a good question though. Is there not a known massage parlour near the airport, that can be reached by a 10 minute taxi ride?

... Is the Philippines any better? Thailand was great, not slum like, which is what I fear about the PI. Manila is apparently a shit hole, and there is really no credible reason to go there except as a sex tourist. I don't know much about other places in PI, but I like good quality, clean, uncrowded surf beaches and don't want to get robbed or see too much abject poverty and blight. What about Indonesia? ....

PI has many great beach areas. Start researching the Visayas (Cebu) and Palawan as a start and go from there. Previously you would have to byo girl from Manila or Cebu City but online has changed all that and it's pretty rare not to be able to find someone locally with a little time on the usual websites.

Indonesia has a lot to offer but English drops off dramatically as you move away from Jakarta or Bali. It's one area where I would recommend finding Ms Right in Jakarta and offer her a few days holiday. 99% of girls with no job commitments will say yes and happily be your tour guide ++.

Broadly speaking: BKK, MNL and Jakarta have similar costs but provincial PI and Indo are much cheaper; PI is the easiest for an English only speaker even away from the cities; LOS and Indo win for food being a lot better than PI; PI then Indo then LOS for GFE; PI then daylight for BBFS options; looks are YMMV as PI and Indo are archipelagos and body types vary widely between different areas. Both MNL and Jakarta are chaotic with insane traffic but they have the widest selection of establishments and girls (many of whom are happy to accompany you for a few days) vs their provinces.
