My first visit to Bangkok is coming up soon. I'll be landing at BKK around 1 am on a weekday. Considering the time it'll take to get out of the airport and check into my hotel (about 3 km SSE of nana plaza), what are my best options for some quick fun? Day 2 was quite dry and only saviour was Doki Doki. Hung out at the usual spot of Hooter to see street action. People setting up stalls, kids going to school, streets being cleaned of last night revelries and the sun yet to come out strong. Got dropped outside Bamboo and guess what. Its closed. Disappointed! Anyway, opposite side I see Grace Hotel. Famous for Arabic and Middle Eastern chicks! Dream come true but its already 5. 30 am. Anyway I go the hotel and immediately got put off by everything about it. Headed to the cafe grab coffee and baklava. Now its a hotel catering to Middle Eastern people so I assume they will have Baklava and coffee. But no, they don't have baklava and only have coffee with milk. So I google translate, milk on the side and black coffee only. Sigh! Saw these three middle age women, of which two were younger than the other one. Kept eyeing and smiling at me. Good lord, its 6 am! I smile back but not long enough to signal her anything. Quickly sip down my coffee and GTFU of the hotel. Came back to my hotel and slept peacefully!

Day 3 was better. To summarize, Mango+SW+Wood Bar+Insanity. Wood bar, caught a cute chick with a name bebe and thai name Kanjanaporn. Looked at some 2006 posts (I used a different handle then). Interesting I wrote that I did not go to Pat Pong any more and it could be avoided (rip off style bars kept increasing). Largely poor service girls and expensive, plus all the LB bars. One guy wrote that Cowboy was full of LBs in all the bars. He was quite wrong. There may have been the odd secret one. Giotto wrote that Cowboy could not have LBs as that would scare away all the Japanese. How wrong. Japanese are their major customers.

Pat Pong was in its hey day when it had the most bars in about 1990 (I first went there in 1991). The decline already had started. There were still some very slutty bars and full nudity. There were rip off bars, especially in the street connecting Pat Pong 1 and 2 and maybe Lipstick and others. I did not become aware of Star of Light till much later, but still used Pat Pong occasionally into about 2001. I also went to Cowboy in 1991 but was not aware of Nana Plaza at all.

I believe I started at Nana Plaza in late 1993, Lollipop, Pretty Lady, and Hollywood (all on ground floor), and later Voodoo opened. I continued to visit Nana sometimes through 1990's and into early 2000's until the nudity disappeared and Lollipop Mermaidium was stopped. I believe 2002 was the big crackdown with Thaksin coming to power. So that is where I think the Nana Plaza decline started. Right now there seem to be very few bars of any real interest to me at all there. Too many over dressed girls. In its hey day Nana Plaza had about 39 shops, which has declined to 30 in 2015 and probably less now. Many bars open and close again after a short time. Its not easy to make them work. Could be 10 LB bars by now. I did have regular girls at Mercury and Billboard in recent years. They were quite non normal bar girls.

I was chiefly using Soapies in early 2000's (and late 90's). I could only get away from GF for short time before she would call to check where I was.

Somewhere in the early 2000's the gogo bar price of girls probably went up a lot so when I first went back to Cowboy in 2006, I had been away from bars for quite some time and little idea of the prices. At that time several Cowboy bars had full nudity. Being told that is what brought me back. Long Gun had been a fore runner but was already declining (as Goat pointed out). Relatively little girl full nudity time by 2006, and they were allowed to have big Bush. Suzie Wong had shaved pussies and more nudity and also shows that were erotic (like the lesbian shows) without being the Pat Pong style shows. Long Gun had the ugly shows. Some time later Long Gun improved with some cabaret type shows.

I later became more of a Sheba (Suzie Wong sister bar) patron as they had better girls and music than Suzie Wong. When Sheba closed, I moved to Crazy House and some Suzie visits. I always wanted girls dancing nude, which was long gone from Nana. I had a regular girl at Doll House too. Crazy House was a good bar (for some) when it first opened but it just gradually declined basically from then on over the years. I don't go there any more, and its a very long time since I barfined a girl there. Never was a fan of Bacarrat (due to excessive surgeries and stage too full to see the girls), although took a girl successfully a few times.

So right now it's hard to recommend bars in any gogo area in Bangkok. I have heard of the Pat Pong resurgence, but my visits there did not unearth lots of exciting girls, being a bit picky. One visit with Natty, the girl I liked in Kings Castle whatever was same girl I had already done in Twisters at Nana (was slow to realise at first). Pretty but not quite a perfect body (tits a bit saggy). Probably too much surgeries for me generally. Cowboy still has some bars with full nudity and shaved pussy. That greatly aids me to make a selection with no shocks about the body afterwards.

Not sure what year the Arab bars (these days said to be rip off bars) opened in Cowboy and the LB bars, and large number of Coyotes, but that only hastened the decline for me. Numbers of very pretty naked girls has dropped away. Cowboy gets closer to the worst years of Pat Pong, while Pat Pong perhaps improves again. So the decline of Cowboy started later than Pat Pong and Nana, but probably accelerated at a faster rate.

Some guys were totally fed up with the gogo bars many years ago, but I found it a better venue to give me a chance to select a pretty and fun girl, than MPs. I used to like Soapies heaps in the 90's and early 2000's, but then they declined too for session success rate. I probably did not start at Oilies till 2006.

I think guys can still enjoy some carefully selected Bangkok gogos if they are on a big budget and if they don't mind the surgeries too much. My visits start to get rare. It might not be value for money. Ha ha. I state the obvious.

Well, I'd say since about 05.

Yes I reckon they were still okay Up to 2005 in Cowboy, and declined gradually. I was pretty much happy with Sheba up till it closed (a few years later), although easy to spend too much, although probably avoided Long Gun since several years earlier (perhaps 2005+) , before tall Noi (super body) started working as the front of house girl. I liked a skinny show dancer called Ning, even just to watch her shows. She did a two girl cabaret act that was fairly professional, up till her co-dancer left (not the Phat Pong type stuff). So strangely Long Gun was a bar I would attend regularly for short visits even without barfining any girl.

Its hard for me to remember actual years now that memory is less sharp. Still I can read my very old reports, to find out when I was still doing Long Gun. 2008 I wrote that Long Gun was not a favourite bar any more even though I liked two girls and one waitress (naturally beautiful girls).
