I thought someone reported cart bars moving to Soi 22, but I have not seen any sign of them whatsoever. They were never legal.

That was me. They have been relocated to Soi 22 down an ally to the left of the main large bar in the front. The owners of the cart bars have rented those hole in the wall bars along either side of the alley.

Yep. The tourist restaurants are horrible with regards to food safety. Don't know why, but every stupid european breakfast house has the most unsanitary food. I get very sick eating at the tourist restaurants (both Thai food and western food ones) as these people couldn't care if I was eating dead rat heads, they'll never see me again. So I keep to the street food, as those cooking for the locals are relying on repeat customers and are there for years at the same spot. And yeah their food does taste better than the restaurants. They cook 1-2 things and are good at just that.

European breakfast house? I don't know what you mean here? Most pubs that serve breakfast are quite okay, that I know of. On other hand, very Thai type places don't know how to make western food. Maybe my stomach is not the most sensitive.

Sure I like street food and its much cheaper. However never had any health issues from other breakfast places.

I did have mild food poisoning lasting several days, from an Italian restaurant in Soi 19 about 8 years ago, where City Lodge is roughly. I should have known the lamb smelled and tasted weird. However as I has ordered truffle sauce, I had no idea what it should smell and taste like. Large size river farm prawns are always far too dangerous for me to order, (to avoid toilet issues). I also had problems with the bright green pickled seaweed salad from a market shop selling Japanese food, more than once. They refused believe it, even though several persons were having diarreah including Thais and that was the only thing in common to us all and each occasion. The seaweed salad has been my only food problem for years since I avoid prawns. I guess it was not fresh each day.

Suzie Wongs: Used to my favorite in the old days, but today's Suzie is very different from the classic one. The nice girls are gone, some fatties are left. And what happened to the show?? Just one year ago there were lots of acts (same programme that goes back to at least 2011). Now there are just two, the body painting and the lesbian one (still good). Probably I'm finished with this bar. I was here on a Sunday, maybe it's better on other days. The drinks are of the more expensive, 175 baht. The show starts at 10 pm.

Suzie is definitely in decline. Less slim girls, but still a few left sometimes. Baccara has bought it, or the business at least or taken over the lease, whatever. So drink prices have gone silly, lady drink was 200. Remodelling the bar has commenced I believe. Eventually will change radically. Some shows may have been cut. I did not care for many of the nasty shows anyway.

This bar was packed as recently as when Sheba was merged with Suzie at time Lighthouse opened, in Sheba location. Just 2 or 3 years ago? Business has now dropped right off. The number of shows is greatly dependent on the number of customers to justify it.

I'm back in Bangkok at the end of January. Am I correct in thinking all the cart bars have gone? Or have they just moved? It would be a shame if they are no longer there as I have found some of my best girls at these venues.

To get to the Lord, it is best to take the underground subway, from Asoke station. I believe it's called the MRT, and the stop for the Lord is the Thai Cultural Center, then you walk a little bit. Avoid taking a taxi during rush hour, too much traffic. Poseidon is 2 stops further. I am not absolutely sure about these, but if you check the clubs websites, they will give you the exact stops and possibly a map showing you which way to walk.

The Lord is located at Ratchadaphisek 7 Alley, so is approx. Half way between Soon Watthanatham (Thailand Cultural Centre) and Huay Khwang MRT stations on west side of Ratchadaphisek road.

Poseidon is before MRT station Suthisan, but that station is definitely closer than Huay Khwang.

Copa Cabana is near Poseidon (just around the corner) and is worth having a look maybe.

I never went there by Taxi. If lazy to walk can get a motorcycle near most MRT stations.

I filtered out everything other than the two I want to comment on.

Crazy House: At Crazy House, I don't let the girls buy two drinks. Yes, they will try to order two. Normally "tequila and coke". Which they charge separately for tequila and the coke. I tell them they can get one. They are fine with that. Good girls at Crazy House!

Tilac: Yes, Sunday at Tilac sucks (normally). You picked a bad night. That night is normally dead. But some nights it is awesome. I love the girls there. They are the most GFE at Soi Cowboy in my opinion. It's rare I don't get great service when I take a Tilac girl.

Girls trying for 2 drinks also occurs at some other bars. I just show them 1 finger to mean one drink (not the rude sign), CH. I decide when and if I buy a girl a drink. Does not mean I am overly stingy, but we have to maintain control. Waitresses do not get a drink merely because they request one. I decide if they actually deserve one, without prompting by them. The more I get pestered for something, the more sure I will be not to give it. Can't reward bad behavior.

I have been to Tilac several times. BFed a girl only once (in memory over last 2 or 3 years) who was quite good on the bed (no complaints), but maybe not as pretty as I would like. Very tall. Mostly struggled to find any girl that could hook me. Just this bar line up is not quite my personal taste and girls a bit over dressed for me. Will go back once in a while in case place changes some how. I was just a bit bored being used to nudie bars. However any bar can be boring, and most are. So I am agreeing with John Traveller and ET on this one. Just lacking pretty girls, or any girl that managed to attract a park from me.

Suprisingly I recently went in Toy bar and liked two girls from a very small line up and had a good time even did not BF that day. The music was extra good, but not extra loud. Liking the music puts me in the right mood somehow. Pretty faces works too. Just two pretty faces, so I called both of them. One gogo girl and one Coyote. They alternated with each other dancing, or entertaining me.

Sharks is not for me. Girls are Baccara style, but not truly pretty (to my taste). Too many surgeries. Music is bad (I am too old for this stuff). Girls look bored and I am bored. No redeeming features.

I have tried Cactus but did not like it. Just too dark for my aged eyesight. Could not see if girls were pretty or not. Too few girls as well.

So really the only thing that matters is did you get a chemistry with any girls going. Could happen anywhere.

The girls entertain you to get drink commissions. We don't kid ourselves they would be interested in any way in real life. It's just the game.

Which one is better is a matter of personal opinion, and i suggest that you check both of them and decide for yourself. The Lord is much more expensive, but the girls are better looking in general. Also, Poseidon used to have a farang surcharge. I was paying an extra 500 bahts a few years ago. Then, one time I brought a Chinese friend of mine. He was not charged the extra, even though it was his first time there. I was charged despite the fact that I had been there many times and they knew me. Never went back again.

Thanks for the tip on Tilac, Smoothy. I used to barfine a favorite from there until she got married and quit the biz about 2 years ago. Since then I haven't really been feeling it with Tilac girls and find myself moving on after one drink unimpressed with the vibe. I only barfined out one girl from there in the past couple of years and it was decidedly unmemorable.

Maybe I should give it another try. Could you elaborate more on what you consider to be the worthwhile GFE (Girl Friend Experience) you fairly consistently experience with Tilac girls?

The only busy tourist area was Soi 4 by nana plaza. Many African girls and many very pretty. They want big money too. The starting is 2000 baut but some can be talked down to 1500 baut. Thai girl are still 1000 baut. BKK was cool just too expensive especially at the massage places that want 1800- 2200 baut.

At about 3 AM near Soi 7 at Sukhumit, I had a pretty African girl offer me ST for 1000, if I would buy her a LEO from a lady selling beer out of an ice chest. I had just popped shortly before and wasn't hungry for African food. However, she was rather attractive, pleasant and on the smaller side. Had I still been looking for poon, I likely would have jumped on her, and finally had my total chocolate experience (I've only laid a mulatto girl, who I briefly dated).

Maybe you have to go at the right time and talk to the right girl. I had a comely, young Thai girl try to pimp off her plain, shapeless girlfriend for 2000, as well. But, that was earlier in the evening. Later, at Jungle Jim, I had an unattractive, heavy and very mature Thai woman quote me 2000 for ST (plus barfine) after I made a completely hypothetical request for her price. After I left Soi Cowboy, I went while walking past the Westin and I picked up a superb lay for half that price without haggling. She gladly walked several blocks in some ridiculous high heels to my hotel, with nary a complaint. In my brief time there, my experience was that unrealistic pricing can be found anywhere in BKK, with any demographic.

Another observation is that black people in the sex industry, anywhere in the world, typically go for the least amount of money. That might come off as a racist idea to some, but that is just the cold, hard reality of life. In the American porn industry, they get paid less as performers. On Craigslist, they are always the cheapest hookers. In the DR, the Haitian girls go for a discount to the native Dominican girls. In parts of Spain, apparently the African girls are dirt cheap compared to European girls. That probably applies to the rest of Europe. So that said, why should African girls suddenly go for a premium to the average street price, just because they happen to be in Thailand? Maybe because some guys thought they needed to paid more for coming all the distance to some place where they are not all that welcome? If there is a premium to African girls, it only exists because guys felt they should pay them more. Their services will become cheaper as soon as guys decide they will pay them less. Simple economics. Its not like they are going to be paid better back in Africa, right?

Girls getting two ladies drinks instad of one and then leaving after a few minutes is just one of the tricks they pull. I'm definitely finished with this bar.

Tilac: A large bar, but when I was here (a Sunday) there were few dancers and customers. I find it very strange that some people like this bar, as none of the dancers were attractive and the waitresses were greedy and smelling at the day of my visit.

I stayed some time in Bkk lately and had time to spare for the bars, although I must say that for barfining the gogo-bars are not a good option these days. Expensive and with so-so quality, it's better to go to a massage parlour. But I still visit the bars for a good time out.

Sow Cowboy:

This street used to be favorite of mine, but that time has long passed. I think it changed around 2012. Of the 26 bars only 4 I find interesting now. (NEP and Patpong are better for barfining at the present time.) Here follows some short reviews of some of the bars.

Cactus: This small joint is easily my favorite. Yes, some of the women have got a few pounds extra (although not all of them), but they are nude and available. A nice atmosphere, rock music and Belgian beer also goes a long way.

But the show at 11 pm is so-so, a bit similar to Suzie, only WITH clothes. Ridiculous. But otherwise a good bar, although the dancer I took out from here (only one from Cowboy this year) turned out to be a clock-watcher.

Shark: A resonably good place to spend some time. Good looking dancers.

Crazy House: Very popular, but I don't like it. Some of the dancers are good looking and some are nude. But I have a problem of how they operate in this business. Cowboy2: now one of the "Arab" bars, this means that you should NOT barfine (3000 baht instead of the usual 700). But the bar looks different from the other Arab bars, being full of dancers and customers and having normal drink prices.

Rawhide: The good thing with this bar is that the dancers are attractive and they are nude.

Lighthouse: Boring place with Coyote dancers (not interesting in barfining, or maybe not even in having a drink).

Baccara: Very popular with the Japanese. Many pretty ladies here if you like silicone boobs. Expensive.

Tilac: A large bar, but when I was here (a Sunday) there were few dancers and customers. I find it very strange that some people like this bar, as none of the dancers were attractive and the waitresses were greedy and smelling at the day of my visit.

Sunshine, aka Afterskool: One of the small bars, this one is quite interesting. When I visited I took a seat at the far side of the bar. Then the waitress told me (twice), that I should move over to another seat, because where I sat was the BJ and handjob place. Funny thing. Reasonable priced drinks and a congenial atmosphere. The "dancers" look ok.

Jungle Jims: I never sat down here because it's always full! So it is probably good then? A small place, a bit similar to Afterskool.

SUMMARY: Basically there are two types of bars at Soi Cowboy, the large expensive places with the casual tourist, and the small bars with the repeat customers staying for several drinks and possible exhibit noughty behavior.

THE BEST:
Dollhouse, Shark (large bars).
Cactus, Afterskool / Sunshine (small bars).

PASSABLE BARS: Crazy House, Rawhide (large).
Five Star (live band) , Crazy Cat (medium).
Toy, Jungle Jims (small).

PUBS AND RESTAURANTS: Sams 2000, Shadow, Spritz, Penny Black, Country Road, Old Dutch, The Corner, Tiger Burger+AtCorner.

AVOID: the so called "Arab bars", owned by "The Man From Iran". It seems that all of the employees in these bars are out on the street trying to lure people to go in. Don't go, they are overpriced, and these days with very few dancers and customers. Will they close soon? Sahara, Deja Vu, Spice Girls, Kiss, Rio, Midnite (and partly Cowboy2).

AVOID?: in my opinion these are not worth visiting at this time: Suzie Wongs, Lighthouse, Tilac, Baccara, Lucky Star aka Long Gun, Dundee (large bars).
Moonshine, Fanny's (small bars).
Be aware that Cucktoo is a ladyboys place.

Both of the Nana car park FL that I just tried said that they stay out until 6 AM. I think you will not have a problem.

I was taken to an upscale massage spa (not a sexual place) by my middle class Thai GF. The service was 2 hours long and outstanding, I tipped THB 200. My girl told me I had over tipped, and should not give more than THB 100.

As a foreigner, it's best to be guided by the local market.

I am happy for you that THB 1000 is no big deal, and it's entirely up to your own discretion.

Where I do get annoyed, is you are encouraging other newbies to throw money around when BKK sexual services are already ridiculously overpriced.

My Thai dentist just did the following: 1 x ray, 2 x novocaine jabs, remove old crown, insert temp crown, two hours work for her and the nurse, the bill THB 1700.

Can you see that THB 1000 as a tip is perhaps a little bit over the top?
