Figured with the close proximity of Nana, Cowboy and Skytrain to so many hotels in Bangkok, I'd wait until I had feet on the ground to make arrangements. Planned to take the train into city central, find hotel near Nana or Asok stations. Initially thought about finding a LBFM in Bangkok and offer her an all expense paid vacation in Pattaya. After doing many hours of reading, decided to go along with the prevailing opinion of why focus on one when there are so many available.

Well plans changed and I ended up in Bangkok four days sooner and later in the day. Flight and immigration was smooth and uneventful. Exchanged some cash and got something to eat on the lower floor of the airport. Head for the train station at the BKK airport. As I'm looking at the rail map to figure out my route, a very official looking lady with an ID badge says the train is not working. Offers to find me a car and asks me where I'm going. Takes me over to little tourist info shop and shows me a binder full of hotels, tours and services for sale. After some back and forth negotiating we settle on $2000 baht for car and room. Paid the money at the booth, which I was a bit unsure about, but was given a receipt. I had two suitcases plus a carry on, it was door to door, so figured it was worth it and I did a good job for $60 US.

It was around 3:30 pm, I'm escorted to a new car with a bottle of water and a cute older female driver. Ride into the city was nice and relaxing, got to sight see and enjoy the water. Closer we got to destination, the worse the traffic got, but I wasn't driving and enjoying the view. Last 2 kilometers took over 20 minutes. Ended up near Ratchaprarop station at Cozy Villa Hotel, in name only.

Let me congratulate you on an excellent report. You knew a lot about Thailand from reading the forum. I would like to point out a few mistakes in the event it will help others. For a first trip book your hotel in advance so you have a place to go when you arrive in BKK. You knew to book near the BTS, Sukhumvit, Nana, and Soi Cowboy, but you wound up in another area I believe. There is a scam at tourist sites where a man or woman will tell you the site is closed but they can show you someplace else. This is a scam they use on unsuspecting tourists and the site is likely open. Happened to me at the Grand Palace. My best guess is the trains from the airport to BKK city were working when you were there and the lady grabbed you to make a commission for herself.

The Nana girls are dogs all the time. Just coincidentally, I was walking through there on Saturday night and they were more horrid than usual.
