I don't think it is the fried and sweet it self. The asian diet is full of fried food, but either the ingredients or what is never heavy as the western food. You can have a significant Asian meal and never feel over heavy as with western food after one dish. More vegtables, maybe? Don't underestimate the lack of cheese and diary products in the Asian cuisine, another fat factor (not to mention cholesterol etc).

I have changed money at many places in Bangkok over more than 20 years and have never received a note which was later refused by anyone.

You are just as likely to get a fake $ or £ in my view.

Agreed there will be most action night time. However, my idea of a midday excursion (apart from the obvious) was to get my bearings of places in daylight so to make things easier at night. Also, once the job starts there will be no other daytime opportunities to see the highlights and the quality of the eye candy. I also need to sort out how to get to places from my hotel and better doing that daytime and at leisure rather than at night / after work when a part of my anatomy is demanding urgent attention.

So it would be safe to exchange US$ at Thailand banks? So much for using money changers since they are suppose to be everywhere in Bangkok.

I have only been to Thailand once a few years ago so I don't know how to tell a real bill vs a fake bill.
