Seems like you guys are going off in the wrong direction from the start by erroneously working with the presumption that a girl who has a high price = a girl who offers high quality service. Yet and still, we get into the subjectivity of what "high quality service" is. While she may believe in her heart of hearts that she is providing said high quality service, to you, me, or the next monger the same service might be considered shitty at best; and vice-versa. Each monger and each service provider has their own general price range. I would not be in a certain venue where I knew the girls typically went for 2000 baht trying to talk them down to 1000 baht. I would just go to the venues where the girls were known to be in my 1000 baht price range. Now if they were purposely trying to get me for over the average price then as El Frances said, she either thinks I am a sucker or she does not want to go with me. In either instance thank the king that there is enough of every type sp and monger to go around.

I totally agree with you the hot one is just eyes candy, the one that you pick up at the high end hotel club are lazy and offer average service, they don't try to offer good service, for good service go to massage place like tulip they work on tip offer you the best service but not much to look at.

I would differentiate between the case of the girl clearly overpricing (and perfectly knowing that she is overpricing= she thinks youre a sucker) and the other cases (the girl presents the high ceiling price)
In the first case I always walk away. If the girl thinks you are a sucker by quoting an outrageous high price, she will probably not provide a good service at any price.
In the second case, i.e. girl quoting 2000 ST at a NEP GoGo, they all do that and may (or may not) go for 1500 ST, it's worth trying negotiating.

PS Quoting 2000 ST at Nana Liquid seems to me closer to case 1 than case 2

If you're worried about driving up the price, you should worry about price creep, not the occasional big spender.

The occasional big spender actually helps the market by perpetuating the big spender myth. The dream of striking it rich draws more participants into the pool.

This is the psychological principal of intermittent reward, well known to the operators of gambling establishments. Its addicts include not just gamblers but anyone in a strike-it-rich profession: waitresses and Bangkok P4P girls included.

The real danger is price creep. The price is 1000. Then it's 1500. Then it's 2000. Then it's 2500. Pretty soon it's out of control.

Knowing the difference between a girl who is just trying it on an on who really expects to be paid a higher than market price is the challenge.

I fully agreed. Walking away is the best negotiation. Hard negotiation will mainly deal to poor service (sort of punishment) but still the girl extracting money out of your pockets.
She goes after the money, so if she fails to get a 1000, she might accept 500, but ultimately she wins with poor service
And will still get some money, without wearing her sexual tools much (with poor service)
If she insist and one walk away she is left empty handed and will satrt to think, after few times, she better review her paramenter, most likely without affecting her service quality.
Necause she will understand that that is the price and still she has to provide the service or she will loose again.

Too hard negotiation will often results in upset girls still being able to grab some money.
So better walkaway, left her upset, but with the time to think why she is rejected.
On the rest, I agree too. If the requested price is outrageously high, drop her. But it is not a few bucks that will change our life.
I had a lovely girl, taken for the second time, and willing to spend LT with me, bothering for half an hour on whether I paid 2 or 300Baht for barfine as she was getting 100baht out of the 300 (but none if bf was 200)
I said: I paid what I have been asked for, I did not negotiated a penny on bf, sort it out with the bar, not my issue, but stop messing with me for 100 baht as I paid bf, period. She was great in bed, she even bought sexy lingerie after the first encounter and brought it along for the second night, as she wanted to be kinky.
So, she even spent money to please, but was obsessed by those 100b!

I don't exactly have a "zero negotiation" rule, especially when I detect there's some posturing going on, but no way I'm gonna screw up my vacation trying to honor this officious nonsense (i.e. the imaginary 'you must negotiate for the sake of the rest of us' policy loudly enforced by a few people here.)

I'll be in BKK till mid Feb 2011. If you're in town anytime during that time, my offer will still be good. I've been reading your fantastic reports and I've got to admit that reading your reports have been the little push I needed to finally make it to Thailand. Thanks Bonzo1, appreciate the support, but here's the report from tonight, went to nana rainbow 4, quite a few decent looking ladies nothing in the 9 or 10 range but some pretty ladies, they ranged in age and looks, a couple of nuggy ladies a couple of thin ladies, a couple way over the hill ladies and a couple of barely legal ladies, first lady that approached me I bought her a lady drink quoted 600bht bar fine, 2k short time, tried to negotiate 1500bht short time, she looked at me like I was asking for anal with her mom and sister at the same time LOL, ya it was a tad bit uncomfortable so after a bit she went to dance and I got approached by another chick with her friend, was tempted on the double but decided not to, I asked her how much short time she said 2k, ya not to screw myself on a chick I liked I said sure, so bar fine 600bht short time 2k, tipped 300bht I would have tipped more but LOL spent the rest drinking and stuff.

So basically for any noobies out there 2k baht is retail price for short time pretty much at soi cowboy and nana go go bars, if you got skills you can maybe get 1k or 1500bht, I have no skills I pay 2k LOL, I was at nana liquid disco and was quoted 2k for short time as well by 2 girls so take it for what its worth.

I'm also interested in the questions you posed since I'm planning a trip to Bangkok in November. I did a Google search on Galaxy and found some info, however disappointing. I'll leave it to the regular Bangkok board members to verify whether this is accurate, but the following comes from the singeltravel website:

Contrary to what I'd heard, the eroticism was only the most subtle, was way overpriced, and in general not worth it at all except for the Japanese and Hong Kong businessmen with money to burn that the place seems designed to cater to.

I was led into a private room, took off my shoes and sat on cushions before a sunken table. A very old waiter took my order, a three course chinese meal and a couple of 20 oz bottles of Singha. I then was taken to an outer area where I chose a girl to feed me.

I picked an Isaan girl of 28 with a ready smile dressed in a light orange business suit. We went back to the room and talked some until the order came. And when it did, she simply proceeded to feed me, spooning me mouthfuls of fried rice, chicken with cashews, and prawns, interrupted by the occasional sip of beer. After a while, with my encouragement, she joined me. My hands were mostly at my sides but occasionally rested on her thighs or breasts. She remained fully dressed the whole time, not "scantily clad" as I heard.

It was a pleasant enough time but in no way worth the 1200 baht for the meal plus a 500 baht tip for the mamasan and another 500 for the others. And if you wanted a *one* hour massage from the girl afterwards, the price was 2200 baht plus 400 for the room which was in a cheap hotel you had to walk outside down an alleyway to get to. All this included a 10% added charge for paying by credit card since I never carry that much cash around Bangkok. The bath, massage and fuck were passable but half as long as they should've have been. Had I known I was going to be shelling out nearly 200 US dollars for something this underwelming, vis a vis its reputation, I never would have gone in.

It was about midnight when I left, feeling cheated, and took a taxi back to Sukhumvit to find a bedmate at Thermae for my last night in Bangkok.

Sorry guys, but my problem is I don't like negotiating, if I am quoted a price I do not like then I just say no thank you and move on; I am not sure where and what financial situations everyone is from but for me personally negotiating a few hundred baht is not worth my discomfort, I have tried 3 times to negotiate pricing in Thailand, they all ended in no sale, and in all 3 situations I was trying to negotiate not because of pricing but I was doing so for the sake of negotiating, all 3 times I felt uncomfortable and all 3 times I felt like gah that was stupid and a waste of time. Hence, now I do not negotiate, and I am not saying you guys are wrong or anything but for me its not something I want to do and I do not believe it is worth it for me, I am here on vacation and I am here to have fun.

As far as why I paid going price AND tip? Well the going price was what I agreed to pay, the tip? That was for what I considered good to great service, yes I might be overpaying and yes I might be messing up the market for some people but I'm looking at it from the law of averages, theres going to be cheap charlies out there who pay way less and who try to cheat the ladies, so I'm on the other end, I would guess most of you guys fall in the middle so it all averages out, I guess to humor you guys when I go out tomorrow I will try to negotiate ONCE, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
