So once again went out started walking down Sukhumvit until I got to Soi Cowboy. Made that turn and headed into Wood Bar.

I thought he just skipped a description of part of the journey, but agree with HorseTrader.

For the record, and Newbie's, Soi Cowboy runs between Soi 21, aka Soi Asoke, and Soi 23, PARALLEL to Sukhumvit. From Soi Asoke, it's on the far (increasing soi numbers) side of the Asoke BTS stop; crossing Asoke NOW made easy by the underground passage (escalator down) just after the exit from BTS. You should be on the left hand side of Sukhumvit when walking away from Nana (odd numbered side); that is, the Chase Bank side of the Sukhumvit / Asoke intersection. On Asoke, walk away from Chase Bank, past the Metro entrance, and the next alley to your right is Cowboy.

She wanted to stay all night but it being 2 am I really wanted to get some sleep. So let her leave and ordered a burger before attempting to sleep.

Skipped the morning wakeup? That hotel breakfast must be good. Nice FR.

Headed to Soi Cowboy and went to Chrome Bar as previously mentioned here.

So once again went out started walking down Sukhumvit until I got to Soi Cowboy. Made that turn and headed into Wood Bar.

The only Chrome and Wood bars of which I'm aware are on Soi 7/1. Perhaps they have different branches on Soi Cowboy. Or, perhaps you are thinking 7/1 is Cowboy and you have not yet discovered the real Soi Cowboy.

Based on your comments about walking back and forth to Nana and nearby Arab shops makes me think you were actually on 7/1. Soi 7/1 is directly off Sukhumvit while Cowboy does not intersect Sukhumvit. The walk from Cowboy to Nana Plaza is well over a km whereas 7/1 to Nana Plaza is about half that far.

I am probably the grumpiest failure of a monger around. And my first week of Thailand (as a free man) is coming to a close. And I have much to complain.

First of all, I had fancied the idea of going to these BJ bars, Lolitas and Kasalong, an I made sure I stayed very close by. But these were completely dead let down. They aren't even trying. I mean at Lolitas they were supposed to wear cute schoolgirl uniforms, but like I said, they aren't even trying. There is some older hags sitting around. Kasalong, I gave it an attempt anyway. The seasoned attendant (the only one showing any interest to serve) did her routine, but also, I felt without any real effort, as time went on, it didn't do it for me. When time was up, I decided I wouldn't force it and wouldn't pay another round of this.

Overall the freelancer scene around the Nana Hotel did not impress me. The very few who I might find pretty seem to have a horrible attitude, looking bored, messing with their cellphones. Back from my youth, Thai girls had a special allure to me, but as my life moved on, I see in many of them the faces of elderly Chinese women who I worked with professionally, it's hard to unsee that. Thai women look a lot younger than they are on the surface, up to a point. So many of the freelancers there I am sure are scratching their 40's. But then the young appearance is false, and it's hard to unsee the elderly Chinese colleagues in their faces. Since I like curves, it's another thing missing here. Those who do have them seem very tall and I don't like that, especially since I abhor even the slightest risk of ending up with a tranny after my one incident in Bogota.

I had no interest to sit down in any of those bars with the old dudes. I walked around inside the Nana Plaza, and I guess I should have done a go-go bar once. Probably will do that still while here. But I have no interest in drinking beer and be pushed to drink more. Today in the early afternoon I walked all the way from Nana to Silom and Patpong, and Patpong was a very sad sight. Seemed totally dead. Of course it may have been too early in the day, but I remember 10 years ago in the early afternoon there was still something going on. Now it looks like half of the places are closed altogether. I don't even recognize any of it any more.

Yesterday I was at Aya for a Nuru. And I guess that was alright. I came out smiling. So I had read about all the Nuru places. How Chrome Bar is essentially closed and you have to pick someone from Wood Bar (oh, yes, there too I found nothing appetizing sitting on that balcony so I didn't go in. Doki Doki and Aya was on my short list. Since the girl I wanted from Doki wasn't on the roster of the day, I decided for Aya. Actually I read one dude saying the Doki or the other way more expensive place starting with D also (can't remember) were using lots of Nuru gel and that the lack of friction was actually detrimental. Another dude was complaining that Aya wasn't using enough of the gel. So I thought, that should be good. Went to Aya and took Kate because she has more curves (a little chubby belly which I don't mind, especially with that belly button piercing). She was nice, I like falling in love a bit with my girl, like Trantra, you know, where you go in with the heart. She was open to that. She isn't a massage professional (she learned it from a friend who I guess initiated her in the art) but I can say that the standard of practice in Thailand is certainly far superior that of Brazil, therefore, even just some casually inducted girl will do a better job than in South America. So I quite enjoyed the pressure she applied, and the thought of being ridden up and down my back with that girl's pussy was quite a nice thought to behold. Not just the curves and all, but also even the attitude. One thing that I notice a lot, and did not at all expect, and really I find it upsetting, is that they are quite discriminatory of age here. I don't look that old, and I don't look that bad, yet I feel like because of my age showing in my hair color, the younger ones don't even try to get my attention (I mean the freelancers). And on the ThaiFriendly site, even though its all full of freelancers there, I have a similar suspicion. In Colombia and Brazil I feel much less of that.

Having just come from India, where this age issue is even worse, I was nevertheless thinking that actually India could be better, even cheaper, for mongering, with the only problem being that the "red light districts" don't have nice accommodation, which is the biggest turn off there. Not even a room they have. But as far as attractiveness of girls, actually I was surprised to find myself wishing for a moment to be back there. Or have the girls from there in the atmosphere of here, with less crowds (the crowds of dudes over there are a turn off, that's better here. The old geezers here are mostly not part-taking in the action, instead they just sit and drink beer.).

What I find alarming and a possible sign of the entire scene collapsing soon is the fact that there are so many couples and even families to be seen around here. The pessimist grump in me sees that the good old days are over, and soon Bangkok will be just a place of wistful memories of old long gone times, with families touring around like the Mulain Rouge in Paris or New Orleans, maybe ordering a drink called "Blow Jog" but girls all getting virtual attention on Only Fans. Oh, and what's it with the hair dye here? I remember 20 years ago, when I was here not as a free man, I was so smitten by their long black hair, held together by crocodile clips, I loved that. And I could see their faces. Now they are all running around with masks, these stupid masks! And even 10 years ago I had noticed these stupid hair cuts they started to use, like imported from China or Japan. God, I hate these stupid hair cuts with the stupid fringes, and then all colored brown or blond. This is odious!

So there you have it. Mr. Grump is not impressed. Next is Pattaya.

It's not possible to do what you ask but all you have to do is mark your profile as appear offline. Then no one can see your profile when you are browsing. The down side is no one will contact you first but I can live with that. I only want to talk to ladies that I select anyway.

Yes, those airport taxis, the taxi mafia, still have you at a disadvantage. You're tired, your bags are in the trunk, and all you want to do is get to the hotel. So you paid a couple of hundred baht extra (he can pocket that and report the meter's bill). Still ... next time, you might try, as you're sitting in the taxi, just say "My Pie, meter" (close enough to the Thai pronunciation without the tones) that they'll understand. It's understood as "I don't go". Or "My Ou (ch), kap. Meter". It's the "ou" in "ouch"; leave out the "ch". That's "No thank you (as in I don't want)". For me, it works on taxi drivers, pushy tuk-tuk drivers, touts ... Yes, it's about one of 10 Thai phrases I know, but it can mark you as "not a first time tourist, been here before, I know the game". Or just be happy the guy got a nice tip.

And for the Newbie's: it is customary to round up on taxi fares to the nearest 10's, as in for that 53 baht fare, I'll give 60 and say "kap". (thanks)

The first couple visits I was very frustrated with the taxi drivers. Wanted to take the airport rail link, but flights leaving North America during the daytime arrive BKK in the middle of the night, and some years ago, the airport rail link stopped running at 10 PM (now runs until midnight). I changed my flights, and now take a red-eye from the USA, arrive in BKK early afternoon, take the airport rail link for 40 THB ($1.25) to the Phaya Thai stop on the Sukhumvit BTS line, then a few stops on the BTS to my hotel near the Ploen Chit stop for another 30 or 40 baht. I do not mind the train, actually I rather enjoy the train, and I don't feel taken advantage of by a taxi driver. I understand that some want a taxi directly to the hotel as it is convenient and may seem faster. However, given Bangkok's traffic, the train may be as fast or even faster.

So it's Day 2 Friday and I maybe only slept 4 hours. Head to the fitness center in the hotel and work out a bit. Showered, changed and then ate breakfast down at the lobby. I decided to go for a walk today so Googled Doki Doki and was off. It was about 30 minutes away, so made sure to bring a water. So landed in Bangkok on Thursday night and was running on fumes after being up and traveling for pretty much 24 hours. I convert some money at the super rich all the way down on the bottom level which sucked for me. Headed out to grab a taxi and I had already read MaxBkk report #51725 about the taxi but me being too tired agreed to 500 Baht. It wasn't until I saw red analog numbers of the meter being hidden behind a small towel did I realize my folly. Got to my hotel and took a nice shower and ate my club sandwich that I ordered. Downed a Red Bull then walked to Nana Plaza which was 10 minutes away and just checked out the mentioned spots. I sat in most of the Rainbow bars and saw some girls I liked. But wasn't too sure if 3000 Baht for ST was reasonable so I left. Headed to Soi Cowboy and went to Chrome Bar as previously mentioned here. As Toppers report #52220 mentioned I went across to another bar to pick a girl and then back to Chrome. Rates are 1500 Baht for an hour and got a nice nuru from a lady named Som but unfortunately couldn't cum as I was way to tired.
