Going back to that article I posted, the guys who got "scammed" paid cash for every round. Could that be the problem? But I still cannot figure out why it would be.

Don't believe everything people say about getting scammed in bars in South East Asia. There are plenty of cheapskates crying wolf.

Just yesterday, I was in a pub having a drink and shooting some shit with a friend. There was a Caucasian man sitting at the next table. And after a couple of beers he got up and left. We only got to know about the fact that he left without paying, when poor waiter started frantically asking other patrons about this illustrious gent.

I paid for those 2 beers. Its a lot of money for a waiter, not as much for me.

I agree with Engine Driver about AC. I have been going there 2, 3 or 4 times a year for at least the last 10 years. I never had that problem. The waitress also made clear verbally and audibly "I receive from you one thousand pesos" etc.

That's not the case at all in AC. I've been going there for many years and I've never been overcharged. Nor have I heard any reports of it on the AC thread.

Probably unrelated to Stickman or their advertiser. These fake extortion scams happen all the time. Sometimes they even include a password that you may have used at one point on some poorly secured site. Gmail does a pretty good job of detecting and trashing such emails before you even see them.

Use unique passwords. Use long passwords.

Pat Pong was notorious for trying to charge cover charges and show fees but this does not happen on Cowboy to my knowledge. You receive a paper bill after each drinks order so you can check it. In Crazy House you even have to initial each order since many customers forgot what they ordered, or some cultures just try to deny it.

Some customers fell for the "tequila coke" request for lady drinks. Of course it is a request for two drinks not one. Best to order explicitly with the waitress to ensure no misunderstanding. Don't allow girls to order the drinks. This is the only so called scam in Cowboy that I know of, although lady drinks cost more than customer drinks for the same drink. In some bars, a lady Tequilla is completely different to a customer tequila.

It is possible for the drinks total to be calculated incorrectly, but is not that frequent. My mental total is more accurate than their calculator, where typing mistake is possible. Normally they will total up twice to be sure is correct.

I take bill scam rumour with a grain of salt. Customer can be wrong or get a shock about drinks bill in the Arab's bars. However I don't regularly check all bars. I think reports need to name a specific bar and have plenty of evidence from experienced Cowboy customers.

I have not experienced clear bill scams. Mistakes occasionally.
