Are ladyboys still a problem on Sukhumvit?

I'll likely be on my own in Bangkok this time and staying either at the Westin or Sheraton in front of Asok, and I'm wondering how much of a target they would consider me to be during some late night strolls in the neighbourhood.

I stayed at the Landmark last week and walked about two blocks to Nana Plaza. Watch out as the LB's will grope you trying to get to your wallet. I always keep my wallet in a front pocket and keep my hand on it.

Was wandering in Sukh last week and absolutely no problem.

However my hotel was in Patpong area, and one morning was on Surowong to go to an ATM about 8am , got to ATM and theres a really scuzzy looking LB standing near to ATM. I got my money ( and paid the rip off Bht 150 fee !!) when the LB starts asking for money, with hands out, smiling pouting etc He/she was gross looking and starts coming close and Im thinking I have two options, ight or flight.

Anyways, there were 3 jovial tuk tuk drivers sitting on a wall nearby. They could see my dilemna. 2 of them stood up, and gently told the LB to leave the farang alone. Problem solved.

I would agree 100%, although occasionally you do get girls who "choose" you just because they are excellent at doing that and making you feel like they have been waiting for you. I go to several massage places up on Petchaburi. I never take the papasan's advice, especially after they have told me certain things about the girls (how long they have worked, where they are from, etc) and then i've gone to the room and heard a completely different story. Last night I did a short trawl through the Sutthisan strip again .. dropped by two places, the first one on the left (opposite T-DED 99), and VDO (down the soi on the other side of T-DED).
