A lot of great reports here but everywhere seems to be 45-60 mins away from the airport. I have a 4. 5 HR layover in BKK and was wondering if they are any BJ bars / brothels closer to the airport.

Whilst it can be done and people do it, I think you know your answer already.

If your trip is job related, best route would probably be try and come up with an excuse for having to stay longer, at least overnight. I have told my work due to my age, I need to break up the long haul flights with a night in-between, that I can't manage the excessive load on the body. It worked and was no issue with my employer once I approached (bull shitted) the subject.

With 4. 5 hours, you aren't going to enjoy things, your flight could be delayed, you can't say for certain how long immigration control will take, traffic to BKK and possibly more importantly back out to the airport can be uncertain, checking yourself back in through security at the airport. The list of unknown variables could be extended. Way to much stress!

I've been back in Bkk these last two days, first observations:

There was not a single person in front of me at the immigration desk.

Price of the oil massage (without extra) have gone up substantially. I've seen only two places offering it at 400 per hour. Every others were 500,600 and even 650 per hour. Strangely, prices of other services didn't go up (foot or Thai massage). These prices have been checked along Sukhumvit between Nana and Prom Phong.

NEP is filled with so many LB bars nowadays, I could count at least 5 or 6 LB bars there. Newbies beware in which bars your putting your feet in.

It's so hot outside that I'm fearing to get a cold because of the big difference of temperature between outside and every places we want to go in. Hope it's going to keep raining hard during early mid days.

As for traffic in north Jakarta, Classic, Travel, Malio, Kota Indah all 10-15 minutes taxi of one another even with traffic. Taxi rides will all be under 5 USD. About the same time it would take from Terminal 21 to Walking Street on a baht bus or Nana to Cowboy in BKK traffic.

Negative about Jakarta, it's a bit out of the way like Manila/AC.

Tonight around 11 h30 was the good time to be in Billboard.

Not for the show on stage, which is pretty much the same every night.

But for the improvised show in the middle of the gogo. A big fist fight, 5 on 5 big guys, all of them customers and westerners. A two minutes fight that ended with one of the group being stomped on the ground. There was only one security guy and he stepped on the side from the beginning and didn't intervene at all. 3 others came way after the fight stopped and took the winners group outside. They picked a fight with the big spenders of the night, so it was easy for the Thais to decide what to do. I highly doubt these guys being beaten by the guards on the way out, they were quite big and knew how to fight like a pack. My guess is they've been told to get out and never come back to the NEP. One of the losers had been stomped very badly and still stayed for an hour, pretending to be ok. His friends shoud have taken him to get a scan, he took some real big shots on the ground.

I think Jakarta is cheaper. Please correct. But why Jakarta over Thailand?

In Thailand, Patts and the general Suk area is very centralized, I've read Jakarta is very spread out and getting between mongering areas is chaotic.

Please educate me as yes, have never been to Jakarta.

Bangkok and Jakarta are two different beasts all together. Most westerners will prefer Bangkok. You can get pretend girlfriends with fake boobs and tons of tats to sit with you while you drink. Some may seduce you and play the long game. Plus Bangkok has a lot of non mongering attractions, food, culture, massage, shopping etc. Jakarta has none of that but it does have younger, less jaded, less body modified girls you can fuck for well under $30 with no drinks drama. They won't speak English and pretend to be your girlfriend and there is less to do in the day so if you stay more than a few days you will be bored. But as a weekend fuckcation destination its better value and better sex in my opinion.

I don't think Bangkok GoGos, other than BillBoard, have inflated prices.

What do you mean? The girls are quoting higher prices at Billboard than in other Gogos, or is it the price of the LD?

The price of the beer is not inflated (155 for LEO) and at least it seems to be the only lively place in the NEP, every other places are looking dead once you have a look inside.

Hard pressed to get under 3 k. So considering the exchange rates you're looking at a 200% increase. Not to mention the place is lost its fun aspect that it had in the early 00's. Gals dancing by the jukebox and grabbing your unit as you walked by them. Now it's like a morgue in there.

It's like a morgue to you. I have a great time. I always get under 3000 too.
