I had the opportunity to include two nights in Bangkok over the weekend last week before business meetings would take over post of my time on this trip again.

Arrived last Saturday early afternoon and too a taxi into town. We had a bit of traffic on the highway but my driver found some really creative ways to try and pass it on side streets.

We eventually arrived at Sukhumvit Soi 2 and I checked into the Majestic Grande Hotel. I will post a short review in the Hotel section but let me just say that I was happy with my choice of hotel.

Anyway, I did not have too much time available and had made a very easy plan for the two days: Saturday; Annie's in the afternoon, NEP in the evening, Sunday: Shopping Siam Square Area, late afternoon Dr BJ and round it off with a visit to Soi Cowboy.

Annie's is located directly across from the Majestic Grande and so the decision to go there right after my arrival was an easy one: A good massage with extras after a long haul flight just seems to be logical, to me at least. Even during the lowest moment of the low season, there will still be more girls in Bangkok than you can ever hope to make love too. WG prices will not change for high or low season. Hotel prices will be lower in low season. Search the usual hotel booking sites (such as www.booking.com) for the Sukhumvit area. Most hotels in that area are guest-friendly and if you have doubts just email them and ask about their joiner fee policy for unregistered guests. Of course you must book a room for two persons!

Take a look at On8 Hotel. On Soi 8. Clean. New. Short walk to Nana. Girl friendly. June will be hot. Not too crowded. Not much effect on prices.

If I were ever to actually stay in BKK and need to take the airport express from near Phaya Thai, the regular stops of the normal run would be impossible with luggage. Bloody mindedness to get tourists to use Makkasan perhaps?

Phaya Tai is about as far from the action as Makkasan. In both cases you have to transfer to another mass transit system. In both cases you have to navigate stairs with your luggage. Phaya Tai has more stairs, but a shorter overall distance to walk. I'd guess about a 5 minute walk and 15 or 20 minutes to take the skytrain to Nana or Asok. From Makkasan station to Petchaburi MRT it's around a 10 minute walk and another 10-15 minutes to catch the next train to Sukhumwit.

In short, they're roughly the same. Neither one is that convenient, especially with lots of luggage, but neither is hugely inconvenient.
