Expect nothing but a big bill.

I went there recently. I had a good budget and high hopes but left pretty deflated. It's a cultural thing maybe. I guess there are guys who like to pay pretty women to sit with them while they sip on drinks and joke around with their friends. If you are with a group and want to take one of the rooms for a PG13 karaoke party, there is plenty of that on offer. I find that whole scene a bit adolescent. I went solo and sat in the lounge. Plenty of good looking women and the stage show in entertaining (a little). My solo visit with dinner, a bottle of booze and 2-3 hours of a bikini clad girl next to me cost 20 K. I could have spent more to see if I could get more but, honestly, why bother when there are sooooo many other options at a fraction of this price. I cut my losses and left. Personally I have no use for a place like this. And adjudging by the emptiness of the place on a Friday night, I don't think many others do either.

It's definitely a cultural thing. In a lot of Southeast Asian countries going to these types of places is where business gets done. People usually take their suppliers or clients they're trying to impress to these places and vice versa. It also serves as a "test" to see how you handle yourself when you're drunk, if you're the loud and boisterous type with loose lips, or if you can keep your cool even when you're hammered.

I think bringing 50% more than what you think you might spend is a good idea. Apart from the drinks and the "lady drinks", they also charge you extra if they take their tops off. Also, tipping goes a long way in helping them warm up to you.

I would suggest getting a private room because all the wild times I've had were in the rooms. You can do pretty much anything in the rooms except for oral / intercourse. I have had some friends who did get BJs in the toilet but YMMW. Outside is a much more tame experience.

Hope you weren't sitting in your hotel room doing all your research instead of having fun in thailand. As someone who is old at this, there's a hell of a lot more to do in Thailand then sit in a hotel room surfing the net.

I guarantee you that you can get the equivalent to any girl on the net by walking into any go-go bar or terme.

This was all pre landing in Thailand. I am a compulsive planner, so that works for me. And yeah, Thailand is an amazing country, I explored and backpacked for almost three weeks before spending the last week in BKK mongering.

The demise of Patpong is another reason I stopped swinging by Thaniya Road. When Patpong gogo bars were rocking pre-COVID it was worth the MRT ride (quicker than taxi in traffic) to get to Silom. Yeah, I think 10.000 baht for 60-90 minute would work. Though I do prefer a longger time stay for a higher price, as long as it is not rushed.
