Since we're on the topic of Thermae, I thought I'the throw in my experience. I haven't written a field report for it yet, but I'll throw this out here for now. I went to thermae around 10 pm on a Saturday night, which I know isn't the best, but I still found this short and cute girl on the left side. She did make eye contact, smiled, and came over to me when I beckoned, so I took that as a good sign. During negotiations, I only managed to talk her down to 3 k from 3. 5 k, and she agreed to BBBJ and CFS. When I have an experience like that, the session is called off immediately when there is no performance and the gal gets a few hundred Baht. They will continue to pull those stunts as long as guys accept it and pay full rate. Of course my interview is usually a bit more in depth, but even then it's a crap shoot. You'll probably get better performance out of a 1-1. 5 k Baht Soi 4 gal. It won't be any worse and you will not have spent 3 k for a big bag of nothing. I know very few dudes who are getting performers out of Thermae these days.

It's always someone else's fault that the farang are priced out instead of our own. Older retired ex-pats on a limited budget due to not being employed anymore is priced out not because of his limited buying power but because of some asinine comment like 4 minutes, 4 inches, and 4000 baht. Current mongers from the UK and Australia are being priced out not because the exchange rate sucks but because some Asian guy is overpaying. Nevermind that there are still many 2 week farang millionaires coming from the USA inflating the price as well.

Blame can be shared all the way around. 2 week millionaires from the USA & Asia, weak exchange rates if you come from the UK or Australia, backwards Thai thinking of charging more when it's slow, and simply bars just being more greedy than ever before which is the most obvious reason. Tiered bar fines based on time and / or coyote / agency girls, bill padding double lady drinks, known gogo bar scams, and BGs just being a starfish and looking for a reason to cut short a session all either drive up prices or give a sense of little to negative value.

There's always the famous saying that a TG will charge more if she doesn't really want to go out with you. It could be that farangs are getting prices bumped higher now that the Asians are in town. But really it's a large mix of everything I've listed out that's affecting us.

I've been here living here for almost two decades. The two-week millionaires have always had little effect on the overall price. There were just not the many of them when compared with expats and visitors who paid 1 k to the gals. Gals have always used the high price technique to scare away dudes they did not want to go with. Personally, I moved here when the Baht was well over 40 and saw it tumble to the low 30's well before the current strength it's experiencing against all currencies, including Asian ones. Yes, the exchange rate has had an effect, but when we look just at the Baht price, the cost has risen significantly over the last few years. The one factor that is constant in those years is the increasing number of Asian punters and the decreasing number of Western punters. Even back when the Japanese started coming to Thermae about 01, they tended to pay more. After the closing of the Siam City Coffee Shop in the mid-00's, which was the Asian Thermae and where most gals were priced at 1500 Baht as opposed to 1 k Baht Thermae, Asian customers started coming to Thermae in droves and the atmosphere, which was a party every night with some quite aggressive gals, changed and prices hit their first increase. Gone were the uber-fun gals dancing by the jukebox, the gals grabbing your crotch as you walked by saying, "F*ck with you tonight," and boom, 1500 as opposed to 1 k. And in came gals who would not go with Western guys. Personally I found the changes to be quite drastic as early as 07 and went from being a 3 to four night a week patron to being a few times a month then. And that had nothing to do with price but because it was no longer a "fun" place to hang out. Over the next decade the number of Western dudes kept declining and the atmosphere kept changing, until we see today's Thermae, 3 k gals, dressed conservatively, standing against the side, trying to act demure, not drinking, not dancing, projecting a kind of faux innocent politeness, with a myriad of dudes walking around in circles. Reminds me of a bad middle school dance with gals on one side and boys on the other. Not to mention gals who will completely ignore you or look away from you if you are Western and try to talk to them. Do you realize how rude and insulting that is here in Thailand?

With all due respect, the comment 4/4/4 or 3/3/3 is really not asinine. Demeaning yes, so for sure not a nice comment. Asian guys have always paid more, are smaller as a group if you look at statistics as far as size, and have very different performance expectations and you can verify this with gals that go with them. And the Asian punter far outnumbers the Western punter and will continue to do so. And to make matters worse, very few of the Asian dudes you see in Thermae are expats. Just like the GoGo scene it is for tourists now. I'll still contend that the number one factor with price increases in Thermae is the vast number of Asian tourist punters.

I don't know if gogo bars are for me. I've checked out the bars at Nana and Soi Cowboy.

For the most part, they do have a lot of attractive young girls. Although most of them will have tatoos and I'm not really into the whole tattoo thing. I tend to prefer the attractive, natural-beauty without any surgical enhancements or tattoos to the body. The bar fines seem to be between 1 k-1.5 k. The attractive girls seem to quote their own take for 3 k and some lowering that to 2.5 k. I took one girl from Nana and she seemed more concerned with trying to get me to finish quickly as opposed to trying to provide a good time. She did offer me CIM so I guess it was ok. I took another girl from Nana and she was one on those 'PR' girls who works on trying to bring you inside the bar. She offered a decent GFE experience and even offered to cook for me for another evening. I haven't contacted her again just because I'm just being too superficial; her stomach tattoo is just turning me off.

Two girls (who happen to be friends) from one of the gogo bars on Soi Cowboy offered to take me to go eat some noodles ('kuay tiew') after their work. We exchanged LINE info and one of them offered to take me on a trip to see Hua Hin; never been there so we'll see.

I do like this bar on Soi Cowboy called 'Tilac'. I just like how their outside table is setup so you can just sit and chill out (watching the view) while having a beer. Unfortunately, their girls are not that attractive.

I frequently walk past [CodeWord900] and Kasalong; unfortunately, based on just looks alone, I couldn't recommend going there. I think I've only seen one person sitting outside of Kasalong that I'd give a go for a BJ. Otherwise, I'll pay the couple hundred Bahts extra at 7-Heaven to get an attractive, young girl to provide the service.

Like it's some magical entity. I can afford it, but why? It's become very poor value for money.

Many of us choose Thailand, not just because of cheap plentiful p4 p but for the lifestyle you could live on very little. I'd often say it was a 3 star life on a 1 star budget. It's still 3 star in most aspects but your paying 4 star prices for many things and not receiving the quality of goods and services you expect for top dollar. Things you ignored when it was cheap are now a focus as they have become quite dear. And it seems the tourist numbers are declining because of it.

I assume from your post that you haven't priced the Ladies in Thermae for quite some time. I was also shocked at what they were asking. Maybe it was to early in the evening at around 10:00.

The right side winners were at 3000 to 5000 thb st. I was a little taken back that they were not ready to nego and although laughing and playing around they would not budge on their price.

They are waiting for their Japanese prize to make an offer I guess.

It really is absurd, and like the GoGo scene, directed at tourists, not residents. It hasn't been a local hangout for years, and neither have GoGo bars for that matter. There really are no more girlie establishments that are expat hangouts, where you can go grab a drink, have a fun time or just a conversation and laughs with your friends, not be hassled by waitstaff, grab a gal if you want, and spend way less than the insane 3-5 k gals in Thermae are asking now. Incredible, Thermae gals were 1 k for years and years. 1 k in 99 and 1 k in 09. Then 1500 for years, 2 k for quite a time, then boom, rapid escalation in price. As you say, the Asian punter will pay. Was in a few weeks ago and the place was rammed. Never seen it that full. Lots of young Asian punters. By young, I mean under 30. Some didn't looked like they were fresh out of uni. All starry eyed, nervous, and naive. Gals would put up three fingers and off they'd go. Certain it didn't take her long to "earn" that money.

It was such a great place at one time. Sad? Angry? You bet. Who wouldn't be?

In demand girls can afford to say no, if the price is not good. That is fair enough, the next guy will pay more.

Girls to the right side are comparable to Soi 4 girls somewhat, so prices should not be too far away for many of them. Yes some exceptions where I may have considered a right side girl, more so girls near to the front door, not sure if that is part of the "right" or not.

The worst girls on Soi 4 might be 1K an average girl 1200 and a much better girl 1300 to 1500. It makes no sense to me that the price variation is so low. I will go higher for something special, for sure. For some reason I just don't want the cheapest. Does not excite me. Sure I can get a dick in for 1K, but not my objective. I want value for the money too. Not a dog or fat face.

I had hope to report more mongering activities while I explored more of Bangkok for the first time. I found that searching through the forum had been pretty helpful in preparing me for the different mongering areas to explore on this trip.

Unfortunately, the girl that I met on my first visit to Thermae has just spent the past 3 days with me. A positive though is the only thing that I've paid with her is for only meals and drinks that we've had. Otherwise, I've only given her that 2 k on the first time we met and some taxi money when she just left. If it weren't for her school days, she'd probably still be with me right now. When I went to Thermae the 3rd time this past Friday, I observed from outside that even from 8 pm-9 pm, girls were still rolling in to start their 'work'. And I didn't observe too many girls being taken out during this timeframe either. I went inside around 9 pm. You seem to have more luck than me (or more canny selecting girls) but very similar taste. I have to agree with your report completely. I am mostly just call in for a look too. Hard for me to get to the best girls. They don't want me or give off a bad vibe. No memorable girls in recent years from the Thermae, none even worth repeating and for me nearly half were bomb outs.

The clear problems for me, were over dressed girls hiding that body was not so fab, and too many girls with a lack of experience doing Farangs. The ones experienced in Farangs and preferring Farangs are just too ordinary looking and not too the standard we want.
