Always walk away from trouble even if you are right. You will never win a fight or argument with locals.

    Short Bangkok visit

had a 5 day trip to thailand in transit from london to aus. first night stayed at the royal asia lodge on soi8 sukhumvit, took it on account of its convenience to the rail station for the next days hop to huahin. was too knackered to do much but go eat and find [CodeWord900] which was just off soi8. went in and picked out what appeared to be the best looking girl there, well she had a nice face but once we got upstairs and took her top off we had a dose of saggy tits and a pot belly so gave up on the condiments and just got on with the main course, which as many around here will know is a bbbj cim, this she did in an ok mechanical fashion, a steady 2.5'' bob without variation which eventualy did the trick. at least better than spending 3-4000bht in a bar/fine/fee along with being at least a little entertaining. as for the hotel, i think my visa card went missing from the safe, along with some singapore cash, can't prove it but found a few of the chaps working in there a bit offputting. won't stay there again on account of that and it was a crap room to boot however cheap. (will update other threads for rest of trip)

Anyhow, TIT. Where is OTH? damn he would have loved to answer this post.
Yeah Nic, but OTH had become bitter to the point of my personally wondering what the fuck he was still doing here in Thailand. I jumped on him for it repeatedly. If you are angry, frustrated, & unhappy and can't seem to resolve any of it, why live in a vacuum of negativity? MOVE ON.

OK. Yes. Arguing with Thais is like running around in the street at night barking at the moon, not only is it clueless behavior, it can get you killed.

I hope that the members of ISG have read enough here to understand how it works in Thailand. You are you, you can never be them. Arguing with them is nothing but a drain on your own stamina & mentality and puts yourself in place that can never possibly be resolved. Frustration that turns you into a person that you really never wanted to be.

You do know that I wholeheartedly disagree with the language part of your equation. As I have said many times here, speaking the lingo is one of the most important things you can learn to do in Thailand. Not only do you find out what you are dealing with on a day to day basis, you get laid better, WAY better. (I have a sister act going these days that is more satisfying than I can tell you and it would have never happened without native speaking skills and vast amounts of experience of dealing with Thai chicks.)

Not speaking Thai if you live here is like not knowing how to read, you just miss out on too much. (Being versed Shakespeare, Joseph Conrad, Arthur Conan Doyle, etc. prepares you for a life in Bangkok? Of course it does!) Otherwise why not just live somewhere less complicated? Costa Rica, Peru, Western Samoa, Bali, or the Seychelles? There is a lot to this Thailand place. Getting a ton of 'tang is probably the best part of course, but there's far more to it than that.

Now then, dudes getting the stuffing knocked out of themselves for doing stupid shit happens everywhere in the world every minute of every day. The deal on Suk last night was just a little example of life anywhere. Just because it happened in Bangkok Thailand at that particular moment in time really doesn't mean shit does it?

    Very simple.

You never argue with a Thai. You disagree but keep smiling and being calm. If you lose your calm you lose the fight.

You never hit a girl or attempt to slap her. Quite simple that some guy will jump in to save her.

We are talking what, 60 baht for a shot of vodka ?

If someone can lose their temper over 60 baht they deserve to get their face bashed in.

There are people who are kind and considerate who travel the world over and never have a problem.

Then there are the "them and us" kinds of people who are, and get, exactly what they deserve.

I just never expected anyone to go through so much trouble to help someone who he never met. I am sure that he probably help out other guys here but they just did not thank him publicly.
