So, you took her out on a trip and paid for it? On a different note. When I looked in Youtube.com for recent videos of Soi Cowboy and Nana there are a few that make it look like they are open again. There are also some that show a very dark Soi Cowboy. That put me on the ground again. The others are old videos, just published recently. One video had a guy telling that already some Gogo's were 'gone'. Among them 'Crazy cat'. I really liked that one as it was calm and always had a few girls that I really liked. Does anyone know whether some Gogo's are already gone or is it just a BS video like the 'recent videos of old times'.

I have walked around soi cowboy during the day and at night several times over the last few months. At daytime there are many street food vendors outside the bars that line the soi. It is interesting to see Bacarra outside tables being used as a small food court during the day. At night it is completely dark at the moment with the exception of 1 small bar towards soi 21 and there is some activity at the other end around kazykosy. Everything else is completely dark. You do see small groups of thais hanging around in the dark having a beer, but I assume they work there maintaining the very closed bars.

All bars are closed up but you can see in many of them. Most of the furniture is just sitting inside gathering dust. I am sure when things open they will all be cleaned up and spring back into action. The businesses that did not survive will come back with different owners.

Let me try and summarise from info posted here. For Bangkok.

1. The alleys in soi 4 & 7 have bars open. But they start to close from 9 pm. Allowance is given with cops on the watch in the alleys and given some allowance to clear the place, possibly up to an hour (10 pm). The smaller alleys have more bars (alley within alley) but they still adhere to the 9 pm alcohol ban.

Freelancers are widely available in soi 4 & 7 bars, with better quality ones in the smaller alleys.

2. The agogo bars are not open. Nana, Soi Cowboy, Patpong.

3. Thermae is not open. But there are many freelancers standing on the street outside. Not able to separate who are the ladyboys & real girls.

4. The beer bars in patpong are opened to 9 pm, same as soi 4 & 7. But not the agogo bars.

5. Heard that clubs in khaosan are opened too. Maybe till 9 pm as well? Beware of covid test scams.

6. "Sensual" massages are open as usual, at least most of them. But with less girls available.

You have been eagerly reading posts and taking notes. That is exactly what I do before visiting an area for first time or one in an ever covid changing envirnment.

A few weeks ago I paid a 500 baht barfine to take a girl out of one of those Soi 7 bars at about 8:30pm because while chatting at the bar I learned she had just returned to Bangkok from her outlying province and had not yet seen what was happening anywhere in the area except Soi 7. So I wanted to take her out early enough to give her a ride on my motorbike to see what things were like on Soi 4, Soi 8, Soi Cowboy and parts of Sukhumvit while those bars, if any, were still open. It was a fun tour of the red light district in a state of semi-closure that she had never witnessed before. Worth the 500 baht barfine with that one.

I haven't been to Bangla in a month, but I think Bangla was more relaxed and open in the sense that nobody is worried about getting in trouble and you don't need to be careful about having a beer. Bangkok will always have more girls and a wider variety of girls. I think if you want to relax, play some pool, and not worry about having fun or taking precautions, I would probably say Bangla is better. Otherwise, Bangkok might be a better destination for you.

How would you compare the Bangkok nightlife to Bangla right now? I have another month in Thailand and debating if I want to swing through Bangkok for a bit or just keep hanging around Phuket and the surrounding islands.

I haven't been to Bangla in a month, but I think Bangla was more relaxed and open in the sense that nobody is worried about getting in trouble and you don't need to be careful about having a beer. Bangkok will always have more girls and a wider variety of girls. I think if you want to relax, play some pool, and not worry about having fun or taking precautions, I would probably say Bangla is better. Otherwise, Bangkok might be a better destination for you.

Moved to the alley at Soi 7 and sat down at Moonshine bar. Approached young 22 years old girl and had a couple of beers with her and her "colleagues". There was a free snooker inside and she said that her sister is playing with customers for entertainment. She quoted for 2500 plus 600 bar fine. But after 5 minutes dropped to 1500 and 600 bar fine without pressure from my side. Went to the hotel with her for 2 hours. Very nice GFE. She just came from her hometown and the snooker player lady was actually her mom. What a weird feeling, I have to admit. Then we went back to the Moonshine bar at 10 PM to have some food and I wanted to see what is going on there after closing time. Drinks and food were being served but I can guarantee police is monitoring that area as everybody was on a bit of alert.

Most of the girls from the bars were desperately looking for customers who were leaving or came late and it was a show to observe. On the way back I could noticed that a lot of girls from Soi 7 bars distributed evenly near closed Thermae and between Nana and Asok BTS stations.

I probably will go back the same area today.

On the issue of barfines at those Soi 7 bars, although there are certainly some freelancers passing through on their way to or from the front of (closed) Thermae, some who primarily work Tinder, ThaiFriendly and so on where there is no barfine involved, that collection of bars does NOT currently follow the Thermae freelancer business model with every girl at every bar.

For example, there are several girls in those Soi 7 bars who only hustle Ladydrinks and drinks for you but don't go with customers (well, not directly, that is). Right away you can see that is nothing like meeting a girl in Thermae where there is no such thing as a Ladydrink for which the girls get a commission or a barfine to pay the bar before taking a girl out of the bar.

Btw, I recommend anybody ask the girl if she goes with customers for Short Times or Long Times before buying her or yourself a drink at her bar if possibly having sex with her is part of your plan. Wait for a clear Yes or No to that simple question before settling in to order a drink. And if it is No, there is nothing wrong and everything right about smiling, thanking her and moving on to a girl who will have sex with you if the notion occurs.

It can also be the same as it is in Thermae in some cases; no Ladydrink, no LD commission, no barfine.

What you described is a common scenario in those Soi 7 bars; the girl and the bar have an arrangement where her presence has enough value to the bar in terms of drawing customers to sit and buy drinks that they provide her with a commission for every Ladydrink that is bought for her. Some girls might get a more generous commission than others.

Therefore, it is also understood that the bar suffers a bit of a loss by that girl's absence if she is taken out by a customer, right? Hence, a barfine is "charged" to take her out.

Also as you described, the circumstances can allow for a lot of flexibility on how or if the bar gets that money. Likely the girl doesn't want to blatantly cut out a bar owner who has been nice enough to give her commissions on Ladydrinks even when no customer is ready to take her out. So maybe she will just reduce the rate you'd already agreed to pay her by roughly the same cost of the barfine (or more!) and, as I had alluded to in a previous post, you wind up giving that much money to the bar now instead of the same amount of money to her later.

Why not just wait to take a girl after 9pm when some of those bars close anyway? Well, you could as long as you are certain the girl you want won't see a long time repeat customer walk into the area at 8:50pm that she feels compelled to be loyal to instead of you or she gets a much better offer coming across her smartphone at 8:45pm. Lol.

It depends on how critical it is for you to save that 300 - 600 baht on a given night with a given girl, I suppose.

But then I walked across the street and started walking back to my hotel on soi 7. There was a beer garden there and then a little alley by that bar. It led back into a little maze of bars that were hopping. It appears most of the girls from soi 4 were there instead. I have a TF girl scheduled for tomorrow night, but Friday I'm definitely going back there. At least half the girls were good enough to take home.

Great report. Appreciated. I'd recommend the massage parlors in soi 24/1. Don't know if they're fully operational now or not. Maybe each has two or three gals. Report back if you visit.
