As one who has worked and visited Thailand since 1970, I would recommend just spending your free week in Bangkok. Find a hotel in the lower Sukhumvit area (Sois 2-19). There is definitely a difference between the two cities, the main one being Pattaya has a nice polluted beach. LOL Otherwise, Pattaya has nothing that BKK doesn't have. For mongering, BKK has more better-looking women available. (This isn't just my OPINION, but that of an Issan farm girl said she would be working in Pattaya because she doesn't look good enough to start in BKK. While I agree with all your points, I will disagree with your conclusion: The sex scene is Pattaya is so much smaller, especially area-wise, and easier to get around in, that for a first-time Thailand sex tourist with just a week or two to spend, Pattaya will be much more enjoyable I think.
