Firstly I would just like to thank everyone for the great reports and general information you've all given on the forum. I've read back so many pages and caught up again then go back another 50. Yeah I have no life.

Just a bit of advise if anyone can give me some pointers.

I've traveled all over Europe but not really done long haul before and it will be my first trip to Thailand.

I've planned to fly into Bangkok from either Birmingham or London on 30th or 31 of October just as we crash out of the EU so great planning just as the pound might plummet. I'll most likely do the 30th so I can change plenty of pounds the day before we actually leave.

The plan is 4 Nights Bangkok, 8 Nights Pattaya and then back to Bangkok for 5 Nights.

I was just wondering when is the best time to actually book the flights and Hotels and which would be the best flights to go for.

I have an idea after reading one here which hotels I'll probably be booking in Bangkok.

Should I just book everything now 5 months ahead or wait closer to the time for a better deal. The ones I've picked are between 2500-3500 baht depending if I actually book and pay now without the cancellation option through Agoda. I'm 99% doing the dates.

Pattaya not so much bothered as the one I've chosen is a bargain of about 1200.

Right now the flights are coming up around £500 direct from London and about the same from Birmingham but with a small layover. Travel wise it's about the same really as I'm nearly 3 hours from London and 45 minutes from Birmingham and when getting back home that 45 minutes sounds much better then the 3 hours from London. Would Direct be the best way to go and just deal with the 3 hours traveling when getting back.

Any info would be much appreciated.

I'll not really be able to give anything back to the forum till I'm on the ground, so if anyone who is living out there and would like something bringing over that you can't get you hands on or maybe want to try before paying the packaging maybe before buying bulk, just so long as it's legal and not too big I don't mind spending a few quid and bringing some stuff with me and passing it on for free as a payback for all the good, maybe bad advise and info I've read these past few months. I'm already thing the cost will not add up to what I'll have saved from reading on here so thanks again.

I've noticed that with older guys in general paying the price they always paid for decades.

In general I agree with your theory although there are several claims to the origin of this trend. One story goes that it started in 2003 in Australia where men grew their moustaches and beards in the month of November to express their support and solidarity towards other men suffering from various forms of cancer common in men. I don't have a beard or stache and never liked them but my opinion has changed of them because, I was listening to npr one day whilst driving (you can google this) that maybe around the late 1880's 1890's?
