Yeah pretty much in agreement here. Don't know about covid changes, but price and quality don't mesh in the scene too hard really, at least for the most part, but some stunners may have a larger fee as you said and get it no problem in the top gogos. The issues is a bit of the SE Asia business style where price and quality aren't necessarily aligned, especially for services to non-thais. There's just kinda a price they make up, similar to others in the area, and they hope they can get it and don't change it much no matter if they get customers or not or provide awesome service or not or quality or not.

There's more to say, but some of the best experiences I've had have been with less expensive ones, and some of the worst with more expensive, not even counting some hotties at lower prices and trash charging higher. Hell sometimes a stunner, especially in a shop, pulls out a terrible horrible performance for a fat check. Hell that's a lot more common than we all want to say it is. To each there own and we all have what's more important to us, but ID think in this day, there should have been a price correction, but I guess maybe its not happening.

There is actually been a huge price correction in the local scene. Girls that were working overseas, local VIP for 5 to 10 K a night and girls that were working pretty massage for 3 or so per session are now working sideline for 1 to 1. 5 k for one shot and 2 to 2. 5 k for two shots. And it seems that the local Thai dudes are now used to this price and are not going to go back to the pretty massage parlors. Girls also will not be able to go overseas as easily. Korea in Japan will be significantly more different for the gals to enter with the only easy place being the Middle East and many don't want to go work there.

But I do think you guys are right, tourist will continue to pay inflated prices as they do everywhere across the world.

I tired of the farang bar scene well over a decade ago. When my friends and I want to go out for a drink we go to bars with good craft on tap where we are not bothered constantly to buy another drink or by cackling loud girls wanting a drink. Most of us are in relationships so we get plenty of female interaction at the house. Almost all of us have been strictly oilies for well over a decade and the sideline thing actually has been wonderful. You can sit at home, read reviews, look at pictures some quite revealing, and some full action, and then go to a very nice hotel room, do the business, and you're done. And there's no pissing about negotiating prices buying drinks or trying to get to a ST hotel. I can definitely see how this would not appeal to tourists or short-term residence. But for punters who speak at least a little Thai, are willing to put in the time doing the research, and don't mind traveling out to the suburbs, it's a gold mine.

The other approach that works well is to accept their price but on a tiered structure.

I often say that's more than I'm willing to pay on a gamble, how about I give you 75%, 1500 if they ask for 2000, and then I say I'll give them 500 as a tip if they make me happy. Generally that leads to a conversation about service not cost. And in a service conversation they don't lose face if they say that can't do that and then accept less, for doing less, but only doing what they want. They see that as a win for them.

This is my approach as well not just in Thailand but in other places as well especially in SEA.

I do not mind paying more for or tip for what I deem good service though it doesn't always work.

Overall, I agree with your assessment here. I'm not sure I have even seen more than a handful of "stunning" girls working in public over the past Covid year or so. Maybe a few were working the online dating sites. I met a few new girls over the past Covid year whose photos might have fooled some into thinking they were "stunning" But when they showed up they were only above average at best.

I think the highest ranking on looks I have given the available girls in the Soi 7 bar collection, anywhere on Soi 4 or to be found in front of Thermae along Sukhumvit so far has been that some of them are "more than doable" Not that any are stunning, super hot, objectively hot or impressive, particularly for any of us who have lived here a few years.

I have mentioned several times how lucky I felt to have a few pre-Covid favorites and regulars who had to remain in Bangkok, could not retreat to their outer province for various reasons, have instead cycled through my rotation over the paat Covid year and how the vast majority of new girls I have met during this past Covid year were dreadful in terms of quality of service if not in terms of attractiveness.

I would judge 2-3 of my regulars to be above average in terms of looks, suspect a few newly arrived sex starved punters from the West might judge those to be well above average and possibly even "stunning" compared to what is available around town.

Yet none of those 2-3 regulars I am talking about have over the past Covid year been working the streets, working in a massage shop, in a bar officially or unofficially open, in an escort agency, on TF, Tinder or any other online site and I have looked at many of them. I have never seen them anywhere with someone else other than me except perhaps with a female friend in a restaurant.

So, for all practical purposes they have not been working P4 P over the past Covid year except with me and possibly 1-2 other sponsors somewhere but most likely getting support from overseas lonely hearts they met 1-2 years ago.

My conclusion is they don't really need the money enough to hook up with many if any new customers, nevermind if they will come down to 2,000 plus taxi for LT with BBFS+CIP and BBBJ+CIM+Swallow for a new customer, which is what I have been giving them for the past year of seeing them every week or so. However, as you alluded to, I have a long term pre-Covid relationship with them.

I liken the omission of quality of looks when talking about girls who drop their acceptable ST rate to, say, 1,000 baht in Bangkok to omitting quality of service from the discussion. I think it is quite possible if not fairly easy these days to get an above average working girl to agree to 1,000 baht for ST if it is going to be standard covered FS and she can reasonably assume it won't require much of her time at all. Almost certainly 1,500 baht is doable for that level of service, standard fare service, with a just above average girl.

And I also think it is quite possible if not fairly easy to get average girls to agree upfront to things they would never agree to pre-Covid for the same 1,500 - 2,000 baht ST they were mostly getting before.

It is much more difficult to get objectively way above average girls to agree to the 2 higher levels of service I mentioned above for less than 2,000ST or 3,000 LT even at the worst of times over the past year. The same as during normal times. And for most punters, I suspect it would be impossible.

Now, when it comes to "stunning" girls agreeing to either or both of those 2 higher levels of service I mentioned with a new customer for anything close to the going rate even for "stunning" girls in Thailand, forget about it. And definitely not for LT too.

Unless the guy is a super star or could pass for one. Even then I doubt it. And they might not even need to be objectively "stunning" Just being the hottest girl in the lineup will do.

Why should they? To go further on the idea you mentioned; there will always be punters who are so obsessed with the goal of being seen walking out with "the hottest girl in the lineup" or in the room they will accept anything or nearly nothing from the girl and happily pay them top dollar for it. And the hottest girl in the lineup knows all about that dynamic the instant she shows up for work and looks around.

Sooo basically what I'm hearing is if I wanted to plan a boys trip for New Years, Thailand is not the move? I've been reading some of the post below and it seems like the nightlife is super dead. Where would anyone recommend to go for New Years if there's nothing going on in Bangkok or Pattaya?

Yes, you are correct. I don't really think the sidelines game is suited to the short-term visitor. I can't stress enough how much time is required doing research. But hey it's kind of fun reading reports and looking at pictures.

In addition many of the girls don't speak English or speak very limited English. Speaking at least some Thai is an enormous help. I would imagine some of the girls would be quite uncomfortable with someone who didn't speak Thai at all. I found that some are quite thrilled when I walk into the room and start joking with them in their language. It's quite a good ice breaker.

Landed last night at 10:30 PM (Asiana flight was barren, so was the airport). Went through health check and security no issues, out of the airport and picked up by hotel before 11:30. Went straight to the hospital, got tested, got my results back today at 9:00 AM. Needing to book the Test & Go package was a PITA and a bit of a rip off but considering the prices of tests in the States it's honestly not too bad.

A few things I noticed, had to go through a special transfer at ICN where they required everything in paper before they would give me the actual boarding pass. QR code, test result, arriving and departing flight itineraries, luggage tag, hotel receipt for test & go, and proof of hotel being SHA+. I had everything on my phone and ended up having to email all of this to the Asiana desk for them to print out. You might want to prep ahead of time if you have a short connection since no one in the line expected this, and it took them about 15+ minutes to process each person.

Example:

Case 1: the girl quotes 3000, you counter with 2000. Girl not happy. The girl loses face because she has to give a discount.

Case 2: you propose 1500, she asks for more so you go up to 2000. Girl doesn't lose face because she convinced you to increase your initial offer.

Variant of case 2: she may accept 1500 from the start.

This is the best method, just stating my price works well for me.
