RuenThai: This spot is literally next door to BKK Happy and I swear everytime I walk by, a girl from inside would open the door to beckon me in. Sometimes girls are actually quite hot. But the place looks a little run down, the signage, and there's zero internet presence. I do wonder what it's about. I'm sure it's the same deal, but with so many options, why. The girls in there look pretty desperate though, the place looks like it's on its last legs. If I had more time, I might have tried.

That name brings back some fond memories. 6,7 years ago, had an assignation at Snow White, Soi 26. Bit early, so decided I'd walk up the soi a bit, then walk back. As I was walking, a door pops open. Mid-afternoon, there were 2 ladies in FULL evening dresses, 1 with a DEEP V neck and some VERY NICE cleavage showing. After a couple of decades visiting Thailand, I figured I was past surprises, but that certainly did. Passed on the invite due to previous engagement, but bookmarked. Remembered the advice of an old Thai hand from decades ago: Don't be like a kid in a candy store, "I want that, no this, no that, no that. Just pick one, take, enjoy, then return later to sample another candy".

Returned several days later, just walked past as curious if the "Jill-in-the-Box" would repeat. It did, though, this time, 2 younger women in street clothes. Went inside, besides the 2, there were 3 others sitting in a row of chairs along the window, looking out the drawn curtain for likely candidates. I checked the prices, decent, same as other places. I picked one of the attractive "Jills-in-the-Box", and up we went along a STEEP and NARROW staircase. Small room, but clean, a/c worked, small shower stall in the room. She (as usual) left to grab her kit. As I somewhat remember, we showered together, she starting a BBBJ in the shower. Then to the bed where I received a very decent massage from strong hands. Then, flipped over on back and we got down to the nitty-gritty. Very enjoyable, enjoyable enough, in the ensuing years, I'd visit once a trip and take the same girl. It must have been VERY enjoyable as it wasn't until a couple of years later I realized that the Soi 26 door was the back door; the front door was on the Soi 24 alley (the time I did leave from the front, besides the 4-5 girls at the back window, there were another 6-8 inside the front door or sitting on the patio outside).

I can't say there was anything special, but the "Jill-in-the-Box" I ALWAYS enjoyed. Decent place, good service where you're remembered. Haven't been there in 4 years, so now, can't say. But on my return this year, I will see if the "Jill-in-the-Box" still works.

X-Ray Kapoo: The one and only 'Kapoo' joint I tried. Just to see what the fuss is all about and in the end it's really just another type of place to pick girls from, that's very reminiscent of all the other massage / soapie*type deals. To be honest I can't*really tell the difference, there were subtle*things like the place itself is nice and snazzy, the staff seemed to be more geared towards expecting you to be local, and the girls are supposed to be hotter. Are they though? I picked Nana from the photos and I'm okay with that since they gave me the option to wait to see her in real life. And the fun thing was they did this weird discount thing. She was nice enough, a bit distant at first, but opened up by the end, good sex, can't even remember now if it was BBBJ or not, I came in doggy while she had the skirt off, her shirt was on and unbuttoned, sexy as hell. *.

As an American, I can sure join in that sentiment. We have too much wokeness, hypocrisy, TDS etc and especially now with the election coming, the press jackals are sreeching even louder. Its going to be nice to be in a place where I'm not a deplorable, gun obsessed, fascist-rascist climate and election denier, but just another jai dee farang. December can't come fast enough, assuming all familial responsibilities fall into place.

They do definitely worry about whether you believe them or not, hence the photos, I got sent Line photos showing me when she was in the hospital with her mom. Her story is sad in a general sense, brother works construction, mom is sick, niece is still very young, they rent a house just outside Bangkok, she's the main financial provider for the family, etc. By Thai standards, and even by South East Asian standards, the photos of her home ain't half bad. Pretty decent actually, but not that great by our standards. The fact that she's the main breadwinner, and that's her life basically, is sad in the sense that she didn't choose this for herself. Yes, it's true, none of us chose to be born, but most of us have some degree of autonomy after or before some time, but being a girl in Thailand, somehow their culture says she has to take care of everybody her entire life. It's pretty factual that in Thailand, somehow it's the daughter's responsibility to take care of mom and dad. And most of the folks back in the villages know what their daughters have to do to send them money, etc. But they don't say anything cause they need the cash, it's an open secret. It's a rough life for most of them, let's all be honest here, nobody chooses to be a prostitute unless they have better options. Again though, all that being said, best to believe how much you want, tip them for good service, keep in touch if you want, but don't fall in love, and don't ever send them money after the fact. Many people's lives are terrible, we empathise, but there's only so much cash to go around. Hell, I didn't ask to be born to my shitty life. It's not so much I wish I was dead, more like I wish I was never born. With how tough I have it, when I see what those girls go through, guys like us that they have to service, you got to hand it to them, they are tough. Much stronger and more determined than any of us. I admire them for their tenacity, their resolve, the Asian work ethic. It puts us all in the west to shame.

When were these discussions? I have been living here for 20 years and was never told to not wear a certain color as a foreigner. Thai people couldn't care less about how Foreigners dress is what I experienced everywhere (temples and government buildings aside).

I have been here long enough to remember when the discussion de riguere was regarding clothing color. Specifically: the colors associated with the opposing Thai political movements.

The narrative: as a tourist you could not wear those colors under any circumstances. Don't even think about it. If you did you were perceived as taking sides in Thai internal politics, it would be seen as insulting to the local population, and it could only lead to trouble.

Four or five years ago I clicked with a total sweetie at Mandarin, and for a few days I was a repeat customer. She always insisted on using one of the short time rooms that were literally steps away from her bar. I tried to convince her to step across the street to my suite at the Shama, explaining that it was very close and considerably nicer. (The girls seemed to really like having their own bathrobe.) But she wanted to stay in the friendly confines of Nana Plaza. Perhaps there was some financial arrangement between the Mandarin and the nearby facility. Perhaps she'd had a bad experience in a customer's hotel and preferred a place where security was standing by. Perhaps she was anxious to get back to the bar soonest. Who knows?

The place was definitely convenient, and it was nice to dispense with the formalities required when escorting a guest into the Shama Suites. I wouldn't describe the ST facility as "shitty. " It was clean and the guys in charge seemed to run a tight ship. The shower worked fine, and there was plenty of hot water at a good pressure. In any event, if I wanted to bar fine my sweetie I had no choice. She seemed relaxed and happy there, so that was fine by me.

The lady might have a Thai boyfriend who hangs out on Soi 4, maybe a moto driver. It's typical for the ladies to tell their boyfriend that they "only drink", so she can not be seen going with a customer. And they certainly can't go LT.
