I must say I do not want to be taken as an equal to a bunch of drunken Thais ,

Maybe Thais look down on us because we are not " the chosen people" like they are , But I am sure they would love to have some of the goodies we have and an easier life,

I am happy NOT to be Thai, and have no reason to turn "native" , live in village and be a sugar daddy !

Holy crispy Thai catfish Minuteman! You ARE kidding, right? I mean, sure, it's great for entertaining first timers here but your favorite? Yowzers, we gotta talk.

Yes, that is where I take my visiting friends. It is very unique, entertaining, and great food. Expensive, but I think it is a great place to take out of town guests.

Let me ask you:

1. Where do you take your foreign friends when they come to visit?

2. What are your favorite restaurants when you go out by yourself or with a couple of your local pals?

The trouble is half the time the Thai's such as this will think that they are not in effect scamming you, you are actually a super rich farang man earning more than 1000 US$ a day and so by doubling the price and asking for a dollar more its nothing. This is why you get the "fuck you" as he thinks you its like asking you for 1 cent more, not 1 dollar more.

This situation is due to Thai girls. Sadly in Thailand there is a structure in place where each and every girl has to try to outdo the other girl. She must have the better phone model, the better looking boyfriend, more money, more friends, richer parents, richer boyfriend etc.

Now this "culture" has been going on for many years, and many girls feed stories back to their village about how their boyfriend is richer than the other girls, how he sends 100, 000 baht to her every two weeks. And then another girl comes and wants to outdo this girl, so she tells everyone her boyfriend sends 120, 000 baht and so on.

The end result is that lots of Thai people think all farangs are earning millions of baht every month and so they think a few baht here or there is no problem for such super rich people.

Now, we are quite off topic when it comes to Bangkok reports, but suffice to say that scamming is not always as it seems, sometimes and indeed quite often they do actually think you are uber rich and 50 baht here or there matters not, you will not miss it the same as if you drop 20 satang on the floor.

But as I said, do not lose your temper, keep on smiling even when having the disagreement.

I always do my best to educate Thai's differently. I always tell them I am very poor, a real cheap charlie and earn nothing. They laugh, but also they never expect any extra tips.

Sadly a number of loud mouthed arrogant dumb ass tourists do come to Thailand and shout out about how rich they are trying to show off. This kind of behaviour sets the seen for people charging foreigners more. Cause they are all rich, so they think.

It's funny though how some get it while others dont, and how some can be good natured about it all while others aren't....my ex gf's family probably had a few expectations when she brought me home to Isaan the first few times, after all, around them are plenty of Thai women whose farang hubbies have bought them houses and made them queen of the village, but once they found out that i had little interest in that, and that i could sit in the backyard with them and drink whiskey and enjoy mor lam, they basically treated me as an equal with no further expectations. Once when i went to Samui, a noodle vendor told me 50 baht for a bowl of noodles on the beach. When i remarked in Thai that she must be the most expensive vendor in the kingdom, she laughed and said, "okay, farang that can speak thai 25 baht," and i became a regular customer for the next few weeks, with her joking with all her friends about me every day...and then there are the angry ones, who just cheat and see you as an ATM..

A question concerning the Japanese monger.

Japan has so many beautiful stunning gals and many of them are available for close encounters of the sexy kind.

So I don't really understand when I see so many Yippon-bros walking hand in hand with a Thai gal.

Maybe some member can tell what the p4p-scene in Japan lacks. Or is it just the price what drives them to Thailand?

One more thought, the bars in soi 33 are similar to hostess bars in Japan, except without the high sticker shock. I also know of several yings at LL specializing in yeppun, oops hope I don't get blasted for the advertisement to the yeppun brothers out there, ha!

Keep in mind I do not live in Japan; however, think it is the price and the anonymity. Most of the Japanese I see in BKK are salarymen, married and have to be home at night. Doing business in BKK you can establish an instant GF exepreriance for the days you are in BKK, somthing that is not possible with the P4P ladies in Japan (unless you are willing to take them out of country on a long vacation).

That's just what you should have done. It's not a high stress kind of thing. You don't have to get on your high horse to "refuse". Just decline to pay, being reasonable, and not drunk. I've never had much of a hassle.

Yep, no smoking in our bar since the law was in place 1.5 years ago. And I am surprised, that so many bars still allow smoking inside, here in Soi 33.

Where is the problem to walk 10 m and smoke outside the bar, even having a chat with other smokers around there?

Giving some bars credit on Soi 33 (without name dropping ) many of the bars have stayed smoke free even if the owners smoke. I find it amusing the owners having to sit their arse outside of their own places to light up.

Went to the Bier Garden on Soi 7 last night.

Not sure if it is because it was a slow weeknight or if the number of mongering tourists is down, but I was offered several ST for less than 1,000 baht. The working girls wanted to do some business last night.

The beauty of the Bier Garden is the low price and zero bar fines.

There are also tons of girls standing on Sukhumvit too in the same area. The quality appeared much less than in the Bier Garden though.

Tell me if this observation is different than your experiences. I believe the most beautiful girls are found in Soi Cowboy. Tilac, Bacarra, and Sharks have some spectacularly beautiful girls. Expensive...but beautiful.

Right. Seems what is happening now is that there are certain bars that allow smoking...

I'm at one of my favorite go-go bars last night. There are large red "NO SMOKING" signs everywhere ... the guy next to me pulls out a cigarette and lights up ... a waitress puts an ashtray in front of him ... the smoke wafts into my face ... I'm gagging.

Laws are meant to be broken in the LOS.
